"These guys are great and the quality of their work is amazing! I was actually away at work when they arrived (on time, as scheduled). Before I could get home to see the lights I received a message from my neighbor emphasizing how much she loved them and wow, was she right! The lights are wonderful addition to our Christmas decorations. We could not be more pleased with the team at Central NC Christmas Lights, their service and pricing. They have earned our business for any future lighting needs as well as our highest recommendation."

"Jose was a professional and did a good job with the installation. The only thing that was bothersome was the he tried to get us to pay for work that he did not actually complete. He quoted us to be able to vent out our microwave but it turns out he could not complete the work due to where the microwave was placed, but he still wanted us to pay him for the full quote when all he did was actually install. That was a bit disappointing, otherwise he was fine."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

Holiday decorating enhances your home by brightening up dark winter evenings caused by Durham's dense tree canopy. Adding thoughtful lighting brings warmth and visual interest to your property. Because the local winter weather is mild, decorating your porches and patios extends your comfortable outdoor living space. A beautifully lit exterior also fosters neighborhood pride and creates an inviting atmosphere for hosting friends during the festive season.

Helpful?

Watch out for professionals who cannot provide proof of general liability insurance or fail to include a licensed electrician for hardwired connections. Avoid quotes that ignore local historic district guidelines or tree protection rules. You must also reject contracts with vague cleanup terms. Tangled lights and adhesive residue left behind after holiday decorating violate property maintenance codes in NC.

Helpful?

Hire a local professional who carries general liability insurance and understands state electrical codes. Confirm the contractor knows how to safely anchor displays in Durham clay soils and work around mature trees without causing damage. Ask about their policy for weather-related damage between installation and takedown. Finally, verify their scheduling flexibility, as demand for holiday decorating peaks sharply in late November.

Helpful?

Choose flexible wiring and wet-location-rated lighting to withstand winter rain and occasional ice storms in NC. Use mold-resistant materials for horizontal surfaces to combat high humidity. For historic brick homes, select outdoor-rated adhesive hooks and non-penetrating gutter clips to prevent mortar damage. When planning your holiday decorating, always use non-penetrating attachments on mature trees to protect the bark and comply with local forestry rules.

Helpful?

Inspect your exterior for signs of wear from Durham ice storms and high humidity. Look for rusted fasteners, corroded extension cord connections, or crushed wiring from fallen tree branches. You must replace any damaged hardware immediately. Additionally, check your siding and brick for leftover adhesive residue or staining. If prior holiday decorating left ground stakes stuck in your turf, remove them to protect your lawn equipment.
