"Bill and Billy were very professional and efficient with the projects I had at my home. They built me and 2 car garage and deck off the back of my house. Pricing was very fair and the quality of their work was top notch. They're family owned and operated. I highly recommend them as a general contractor and builder for any home projects."

"Ryan and team did an outstanding job on my house as they had to replace all of the decaying MDF surrounding my windows along with rebuilding my double decker front porch (original builder did not construct the porch correctly which resulted in structural issues). Quality and craftsmanship has been top notch and no complaints."

"We needed to remove an old, exiting glass sunroom and replace it with a deck. Gianfranco stayed in touch throughout the project and the crew, who were great, arrived on time. They started the demolition and construction of the deck the same day. The project was completed earlier then agreed. They worked efficiently and professionally. Jenny stayed in touch with all updates, from the beginning to the very end of the project. The deck came our beautiful! We will definitely use them again."

"I called Joe after seeing a patio that he'd done for my neighbor, & from our very 1st encounter he & his team have always provided the highest level of customer service. They were respectful of my home & my time, & their craftsmanship is 2nd to none. Everyone who sees my patio wants to know who did it. I've had total strangers ring my doorbell just to ask for a closer look. Joe & his team far exceeded my expectations, & now they're my 1st call for all my home improvement needs!"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

The foundation for a pole barn should be at least 36 inches thick to ensure that the piers won’t shift from frost heave.

The best lumber for building will be the strongest and most eco-friendly wood your budget allows. That being said, Douglas fir, pine, oak, and maple are all common building materials. Contractors will use a strong, inexpensive wood to frame a house or other structure and finer woods like mahogany for detail work.

Rather than using a common two-by-four piece of wood for a rafter, you probably will use two-by-six, two-by-eight, two-by-ten, or even two-by-twelve boards. Wider lumber is typically a better choice in a larger building as it provides more sturdiness. Some installers may use wider lumber for rafters near the edges of the roof, where the greatest stress occurs, and save money with narrower lumber toward the middle.

The construction stage is almost always the longest part of building a house. Within this stage, framing often takes the most time, lasting anywhere from one week to a couple of months, depending on the home's size, the crew, and the time of year. Other parts of the construction phase include pouring the foundation and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring. The planning and design phase can also be very time-consuming, sometimes taking months or even years, especially for a custom home. The final finishing process, which includes painting and installing trim, is typically shorter than the construction or planning stages.

Prefab sheds can be worth it, depending on your needs and goals. If you want to build the shed yourself or have a quick project turnaround, then a prefab shed will likely be worth it. If you want something more customized, then starting from scratch may help you achieve your goals better than a prefab could.
