"I recently had Home Shield install new insulation in my home, and I couldn't be happier with their work! From start to finish, they were professional, punctual, and efficient. They arrived right on time and completed the job in a timely manner without cutting corners. What really stood out to me was how clean they left everything. They made sure to clean up thoroughly after themselves, which is always appreciated. Additionally, their expertise was evident—they not only knew exactly what needed to be done but also took the time to explain what steps we could take to keep our home warm during the colder months. Overall, their excellent service and attention to detail exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them"

"Price was about average, can't complain - don't remember exactly how much or exact service date (disclaimer).  Company screwed up the scheduling.  Installer was busy with personal life and we had to work around their schedule.  Inconvenient.  Came out and sprayed insulation in the garage.  They left the door open to the basement so the entire chemical smell inundated the basement.  The spray was general even but there seemed to be small holes and spaces generally through out the insulation.  When I inquired about the small spaces the response was they generally use the small spray cans you can get at Home Depot\Lowes but that they didn't have any.  I said I would take care of it myself, I had enough inconvenience with the screw up in scheduling.  Other than that went well - it's not that involved, just spray foam.
They did clean up the mess relatively well, but not perfect."

"Josh and his crew were here at the agreed time and worked daily until the job was complete. Josh is very efficient and knows how to seal and protect the crawl space. I had previously used a pest control company to do the work but just ended up wasting a lot of money as the job was not done correctly. Josh is honest and dependable and I could not be happier with the work performed. I would recommend Sedona Waterproofing Solutions to anyone who needs it. I just regret not using them first."

"North Coast Insulation and Roofing did a fantastic job with replacing my roof and fixing the water damage. They looked at my roof and gave me an estimate of the cost for repairs, free of charge. They were polite, professional, and they listened to what I wanted and worked with me to ensure that I would receive what I asked for. Before contacting them for an estimate, I thought it would cost around 7000 dollars to repair my roof, but it was actually less than that! So not only did I receive exactly what I wanted, I was able to get it under budget and save money as well! I completely recommend North Coast Insulation and Roofing for your next project."

"I have used them for years and years and years.  They were recommended by a former neighbor at the condo-complex I was living in.  My favorite thing is that they are environment friendly.  They do not spray stuff all over the interior of your home.  They actually put things in the walls and that to me is healthier.  They are just very prompt and courteous.  They know their stuff.  I have just had a wonderful experience with them in three different residences through the years.  The price is very reasonable.  I have been a customer of theirs for at least ten years.  Jamie is the office manager there, she has been all the years there, and I can trust her.  She is just fabulous in terms of getting people scheduled and getting things done.  They have several employees there who have been there for as long as I have been their customer.  That says a lot about them as a company, so they have limited turnover.  Jamie has had some health issues in the recent years but she is just absolutely divine.  She is my lifeline to pest control.  I have recommended them to different people through the years.  They are definitely great."

"Since our last cleaning seven years ago , we had done some remodeling including replacing flooring. The COIT crew arrived on time. They were the most courteous and knowledgable service personnel we have had in years. Did a complete job and showed us the before and after pictures. Beyond debris and dust they found parts of a small styrofoam child's airplane. Since there have not been children in the house for 20+ years, the parts had been there along time. Pleased with the work and will use again."

"We purchased a new home and soon realized that the crawl space was not only damp but that standing water was collecting right underneath the furnace and we were already getting mold on some floor joists. We sought out three estimates. I was most impressed with Moisture Loc. Jon Patrick did the inspection and estimate. He was the most professional and thorough (I don't think one of the men even went into the crawlspace). He proposed thoughtful and practical solutions for our situation and not a "one size fits all" solution. As a result, their estimate was the best. We decided to split the job in half due to financial constraints. Moisture Loc was perfectly fine with this. They even allowed us to pay with a credit card and make two monthly payments after the work was complete. We did the first part of the job in Oct. 2010 which consisted of installing a drain around the entire crawlspace, installing a sump pump and wiping down the floor joists for mold. Everything went fine with this job. The crew were prompt, friendly and fast and the job cost exactly as was estimated. I wanted to see if this partial solution might take care of most of the problem. When it was clear by July 2011 it would not, Jon Patrick came out again to confirm my suspicions that the humidity in the crawl space was still too high. Moisture Loc honored their original estimate and finished the second half of the job in August. Again, the job went off without a hitch. Andy is the supervisor and runs a tight ship. He is very good about communicating the logistics of the job. The crew got going soon after I gave the OK and again finished promptly. Moisture Loc again allowed us to split the amount due into two monthly credit card payments after they completed the job. There were no up front costs. That option is an incredible benefit and one you won't find very often in the construction industry. If I have one complaint, it's that the work crews can be rough on surrounding plants/landscape and their clean up is a little wanting. I found black spray paint on our white gravel driveway rocks where apparently some overspray had occurred and also numerous plastic bits in the mulch. Overall I'm very satisfied with the quality and value of the work and recommend them without reservation."

"They did a very good job with everything, but after replacing the rotted wood the front door stuck to the point that I could not open it. They removed the door and sanded it and the door sill until it could be opened again. Also, I checked the insulation in the house crawlspace and found about a 10-15-foot length at the entry where there was no insulation. I did call their office to let them know of this. I drove to a big box store and purchased a roll of insulation and installed it myself."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Water heater blanket prices range from $20 to $40 on average, though you typically won’t need to spend more than $30 for all the tools and materials required for installation—which include the blanket itself, heavy-duty scissors, and electrical tape. Blankets with higher R-values will also be slightly higher in price.

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.

The best R-value for home insulation depends on where you live and where you’re installing the insulation. Your climate zone plays the biggest role in determining the correct R-value, so be sure to know which zone you live in when determining the R-value you need.

When temperatures are too cold, it can keep ice from melting, and products like ice melt and rock salt are ineffective. Water turns to ice in temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Ice melts on its own when temperatures reach above 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ice melt loses effectiveness in temperatures below -25 degrees Fahrenheit, and rock salt works in temperatures 5 degrees Fahrenheit and warmer.

Exposed ductwork can sweat just like ductwork placed behind walls, sometimes even more so. Ductwork sweats—like a cold drink on a hot day—because of a temperature imbalance between the air in the duct and the air in the room. In a crawl space or wall, this temperature can equalize faster due to the small space but in lofts and open rooms, that wouldn’t happen as quickly. Many people insulate their ducts for this reason.
