"Bill and Billy were very professional and efficient with the projects I had at my home. They built me and 2 car garage and deck off the back of my house. Pricing was very fair and the quality of their work was top notch. They're family owned and operated. I highly recommend them as a general contractor and builder for any home projects."

"We ve been our home for 4 months and couldn t be more pleased with it. Lace took our dreams and made them a reality within our budget and time line. The majority of the vendors were detailed and customer oriented. They kept the esthetics of our home in mine during every step. Lastly, when it comes to doing our phase two of our dream home as well as for our vacation home, without a doubt, we will be using Lace V Construction........."

"We needed to remove an old, exiting glass sunroom and replace it with a deck. Gianfranco stayed in touch throughout the project and the crew, who were great, arrived on time. They started the demolition and construction of the deck the same day. The project was completed earlier then agreed. They worked efficiently and professionally. Jenny stayed in touch with all updates, from the beginning to the very end of the project. The deck came our beautiful! We will definitely use them again."

"Joe Everette is the absolute best in the business. He is a master at keeping on time and on budget, while providing top quality work and materials. He does not cut corners, he is particular with every detail. We honestly have no complaints at all. We are so happy with our new home which is in the last week or so of construction. We give him 100% + grade AA for an awesome job. No matter how many times we bug him he never acts irritated or like he does not have time for us. If you want top quality, he's your guy!"

"Marc was prompt and flexible in meeting with me and completing the work in a timely manner.  He tackled a very difficult wiring issue and was able to solve the problem, one which required a return to correct.  He researched finding dock fixtures to match the ones installed many years earlier.  Sent his crew back to ensure things were working correctly.  Was willing to look at other items that were not part of the original job request.  Price was very reasonable.

"Bill was very professional. They installed a roof for me in 2013 and I knew then I would use them again.  They are very professional and courteous.  They explained everything in detail and followed-up. They also did a great job cleaning up after the work was completed. Most recently, I have used BTR for repair and "handyman" work. I had the same experience with them.  I would use them again.

"We love our new counter tops! Sam and Tony of Imperial Stone were knowledgeable and professional. They clearly take pride in their company and went out of their way to accommodate our schedule. We were able to go to their warehouse in Indian Trail to look at their granite slabs and to take samples home. They paid close attention to the details before and after installation, taking care to position the hand made patterns on the slab to avoid any areas that might look bad in the finished product. They did a beautiful job hiding the joints. They made sure all our questions were answered about use and care of the granite. The stainless sink that was included in the purchase is high quality and looks great, too. I would definitely hire Imperial Stone again. Note that Imperial Stone only provides and installs the counter tops and the sink. They recommended a contractor to demo the existing tile counter top, to disconnect and then re-plumb the new kitchen sink, to add any trim that might be required, and to install the backsplash. Although working with the contractor to do all the additional work was our responsibility, Sam and Tony explained carefully all that would be required and coordinated with the contractor's schedule."

"Lamont was great to work with. As a young woman, hiring a contractor was a little intimidating. Lamont was super professional, well priced, and his sales approach was great. I didn’t feel pressured at all. The room turned out great!"

"Except for numerous meetings with Chuck and/or his manager regarding details, the total experience was a plus... from providing estimate to job completion.  We had two bathrooms totally remodeled (one at a time) which took about 3 weeks.  Hallways and adjacent rooms were well protected from dust and debris by Rick and his team as they worked, and complete cleanup was provided at the end of each day... nothing left behind except in the room in which they were working.  My wife and I felt comfortable leaving our home each day to conduct various activities.   Excellent finished project!

Custom Home Builders FAQs, answered by experts

Schedule exterior home building during the moderate spring or fall months. In Denver, you must book professionals by February for spring projects. Watch for climate warning signs, like soft subfloors after humid summers or roof damage following winter ice storms. Additionally, many local houses built in the late nineties now require major system replacements, including new roofs, water heaters, and updated deck supports.

Helpful?

Before starting home building, verify your local permit requirements. Since Denver is an unincorporated community, county offices handle all building, septic, and well approvals. You must secure septic site evaluations before applying for structural permits. Additionally, check your neighborhood for active homeowners association restrictions, which operate on separate timelines. Finally, confirm if your property sits in a flood zone, as this requires special elevation certificates.

Helpful?

Always verify state licenses before hiring professionals for home building. North Carolina mandates specific credentials for general contractors, electricians, and plumbers. Request proof of general liability and workers' compensation insurance before any work begins. Because the Denver area experiences rapid growth, local professionals book up months in advance. Hire established regional experts rather than out-of-town workers, and ensure your contractor pulls all required permits.

Helpful?

Start your initial home building preparations by addressing moisture control. North Carolina experiences high humidity, making crawl space encapsulation a top priority to prevent mold and wood rot. Next, assess your cooling system before the hot summer months arrive. You should also evaluate your property's grading to direct water away from the foundation. Finally, schedule a termite inspection and establish a pest treatment plan immediately.

Helpful?

Homeowners frequently underestimate septic system limitations during home building. Adding square footage requires a septic upgrade, and soil evaluations take significant time. You must also account for lengthy permit reviews and strict homeowners association architectural approvals. In Denver, heavy clay soils demand specialized foundation designs. Finally, quality local contractors book out several months in advance, so start your hiring process early to avoid delays.
