"Communications and scheduling were awful. Took forever and 7 calls to actually get them to send the quote. When I call they say Jorge will call back, he doesn't. Call him, and his voicemailbox is always full. Three times the roofers were scheduled to come and they never showed up, never called. Really regret using them. When the roofer finally showed up, he was a sub contractor that didn't really know what he was supposed to do. Felt bad for him, he had to bring his little boy who just wandered around my back yard while he worked on my roof. The actual work seems fine, it's the whole process of working with them that is awful. Can't figure out who they actually are, Findlay Roofing, Roof Roof, Mighty Dog Roofing? That was probably my first warning flag."

We are a detail-focussed small service & repair business catering to the needs of our customers 24/7. Service Calls and small repairs are done at standard Labor & Materials invoicing. Larger projects such as rewiring, remodels, deck construction, are done with a fixed-price contract and all elements calculated via a site visit with owner for a total price thereafter. Local area estimates are free, but a nominal charge is required for out-of-area estimate requests to offset fuel & maintenance costs for business vehicle plus nonproductive time lost ( I credit customer this if we are hired to do a job). I DO NOT subcontract as a rule but do have a couple highly skilled tradespeople who work independently and cover additional needs for my business as I need them, such as A/C system charging, etc. We have 100% satisfaction with our customer base and I guarantee all work 100% for 1 year after it is done (labor & materials)! Examples of our clientele are the average residential homeowner to medical offices to single professionals to retirement communities to legal system professionals to major retailer stores in Malls. We have a diverse portfolio of clients and all are treated the same way building trust by our work ethic, integrity and professional character we put forth on any job. We work VERY clean respecting all properties. Please check my LinkedIn business profile as well: https://www.linkedin.com/in/steve-lackovic-45761b91/

We have been in business since 1993. We have and still do rely on our reputation to keep this business operating. We give free estimates with a itemized proposal. We request material money at start and payment upon completion and satisfaction. Thank you, Chip Miller

"After a lot of research, we hired Mr. Miller to build a covered porch to replace our old deck. We basically handed him a picture we'd found, discussed a few changes with him, and he produced the most beautiful porch we could imagine. He was very professional, congenial, kind, and an amazing builder. Everything was cleaned up after the building was completed. Even with lots of weather issues, we had our porch ready in time for our grandsons visit shortly before Christmas. We really love this porch and plan to use it all the time!"

We are a local small business specializing in basement and crawl space waterproofing and moisture control in the Greater Charlotte Area. Our experience includes over 30 years in the industry from design, install, service, and management. From basic crawl space clean-up to more advance projects including drainage, closed crawl spaces, and basement waterproofing; we have the knowledge and experience you can count on to handle your problem appropriately. We provide long term warranties on our systems, service, and maintenance; and are dedicated and committed to quality and customer service.

"I’m out Thousands of dollars and still in need of home repairs. Dan S, (Dry Otter’s Site inspector.) came to inspect and give me a quote on 11/28/17.I stated my reasons for seeking help. “Excessive “Settling” (Dips in the sub-floor throughout the house.) “Squeaky floors”, bad odors, (mold) dampness etc. After inspection, Dan told me I also had wood rot. Said a wire insulation support he picked up went right through the wood with little/no effort. Horrified, I took Dan’s word for it. He offered to show me, but I was unable to go look. I told him that a bad back and that an acute stroke left me in constant pain, with limited mobility. In hindsight, sharing that information with Dan was a Big Mistake! Essentially informing him that I had no way of getting under there to verify, or check any work done . When Dan called back, I informed him I narrowed to 3 companies, and he was in 2nd place. He asked “How much do I need to come down in price”? The figure was 2k .Dan sent me a new quote for $15,832 total. We made an appointment for 12/11/17. Where I reiterated exactly what I wanted done. Now "Re-prioritized" after Dan’s inspection report. 1) Replace all rotten wood and *“sister” any joists that showed any weakness at all. 2) Level my floors, and stop all the squeaks. 3) Kill the mold. 4) Encapsulate, and “waterproof”, so I never need worry again. Dan’s more than cheerful reply? “WE CAN DO ALL OF THAT”! As Dan began to write the contract details, I didn’t see what was discussed. He said he had to “Itemize the material” per company policy. Okay, I saw mold remediation written. I saw pipe, gravel, sump pump, install electrical outlet. I saw replace ¾ plywood, 4x8 posts, (Assumed to replace rotten wood okay) I saw sister joists, adjust & level floors, okay. All “sounds right”, doesn’t it? Dan left very happy with a deposit of $3958. Tuesday January 16th. Apparently, Dan had missed the heat & air system which was (Big as a cow) smack in the middle of where supports needed to be placed. He returned with a heat & air guy who proposed to move the equipment 3 feet to either the left or the right. Only it would cost me near 4k and (the fun part) his guy couldn’t guarantee it would work after all was said and done! Eventually, "Dan’s mistake" ended up costing "Me" $5800 More for new system when the old one still worked fine ! Job Finally Finished End of February 2018, After countless delays Kevin Sanders (Owner) had to personally go under the house and work to get the job done, and left with final check for $11,874.00. Fast forward: When my flooring contractor comes for installation, in 2 places he literally “pushes his hand right through the Sub-Floor”! He says not the worst of it, and asks me to follow him. I grab my cane & follow him outside. He opens the crawlspace hatch and climbs in. I said I couldn’t follow. (Previously mentioned stroke) He told me to stay there. He stepped just behind the hatch reached up & showed me a fistful of “Crumbled Wood”. He said “This is what Your House is Sitting On”! (Video Link) [*** Link removed ***] “PANIC“! I couldn’t believe it I called Otter Owner Kevin Sanders. His response? “That Wasn’t in your Contract”! WHAT? I collapsed, “I couldn't Breathe”! Fearing another stroke, I ended up in the ER!. Follow up phone calls were intercepted by Kevin's Office asst. He instructed her to tell me to call his lawyer instead. Response from the owner: We take your concerns very seriously and attempted to discuss this issue with you when it was brought to our attention. Unfortunately, we felt it was in your best interest to defer to a third party and those attempts to resolve and communicate have failed because you will not return his calls. RE-Otter Response: The "THIRD PARTY" Otter's response referred to is "Otters Lawyer". REALLY?? “I” should call "YOUR" Lawyer for "MY" best interest? "YOU PEOPLE "ASTOUND ME”! NOTE: I had to edit my original post (Below) to respond."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can hammer a nail into a wall stud. But before you do, it’s important to confirm that you’re actually nailing into a stud—and not wiring, pipes, or ductwork. To check, find a few more studs in the wall, then measure to make sure they’re either 16 or 24 inches apart.

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.

If nail pops in your drywall aren't fixed, there can be consequences to the structure of your home and the aesthetics of the room. Nail pops may loosen or weaken drywall and may be less effective at providing support and insulation, ultimately requiring more extensive repairs or replacement in the future. If not fixed, the blemish will become increasingly unsightly over time, potentially leading to further damage as raised areas easily catch on objects or clothing.

Yes, most services include necessary frame modifications for proper door fitting. Confirm with your provider.

The best way to determine if ceiling cracks are structural is to hire a ceiling contractor to inspect the cracks and provide a professional opinion. That said, you might be able to make an educated guess based on the size and appearance of the crack. Larger cracks, cracks accompanied by sagging or discoloration, and cracks that travel from the ceiling down the walls are all signs of structural issues.
