I’m out Thousands of dollars and still in need of home repairs. Dan S, (Dry Otter’s Site inspector.) came to inspect and give me a quote on 11/28/17.I stated my reasons for seeking help. “Excessive “Settling” (Dips in the sub-floor throughout the house.) “Squeaky floors”, bad odors, (mold) dampness etc. After inspection, Dan told me I also had wood rot. Said a wire insulation support he picked up went right through the wood with little/no effort. Horrified, I took Dan’s word for it. He offered to show me, but I was unable to go look. I told him that a bad back and that an acute stroke left me in constant pain, with limited mobility. In hindsight, sharing that information with Dan was a Big Mistake! Essentially informing him that I had no way of getting under there to verify, or check any work done . When Dan called back, I informed him I narrowed to 3 companies, and he was in 2nd place. He asked “How much do I need to come down in price”? The figure was 2k .Dan sent me a new quote for $15,832 total. We made an appointment for 12/11/17. Where I reiterated exactly what I wanted done. Now "Re-prioritized" after Dan’s inspection report. 1) Replace all rotten wood and *“sister” any joists that showed any weakness at all. 2) Level my floors, and stop all the squeaks. 3) Kill the mold. 4) Encapsulate, and “waterproof”, so I never need worry again. Dan’s more than cheerful reply? “WE CAN DO ALL OF THAT”! As Dan began to write the contract details, I didn’t see what was discussed. He said he had to “Itemize the material” per company policy. Okay, I saw mold remediation written. I saw pipe, gravel, sump pump, install electrical outlet. I saw replace ¾ plywood, 4x8 posts, (Assumed to replace rotten wood okay) I saw sister joists, adjust & level floors, okay. All “sounds right”, doesn’t it? Dan left very happy with a deposit of $3958. Tuesday January 16th. Apparently, Dan had missed the heat & air system which was (Big as a cow) smack in the middle of where supports needed to be placed. He returned with a heat & air guy who proposed to move the equipment 3 feet to either the left or the right. Only it would cost me near 4k and (the fun part) his guy couldn’t guarantee it would work after all was said and done! Eventually, "Dan’s mistake" ended up costing "Me" $5800 More for new system when the old one still worked fine ! Job Finally Finished End of February 2018, After countless delays Kevin Sanders (Owner) had to personally go under the house and work to get the job done, and left with final check for $11,874.00. Fast forward: When my flooring contractor comes for installation, in 2 places he literally “pushes his hand right through the Sub-Floor”! He says not the worst of it, and asks me to follow him. I grab my cane & follow him outside. He opens the crawlspace hatch and climbs in. I said I couldn’t follow. (Previously mentioned stroke) He told me to stay there. He stepped just behind the hatch reached up & showed me a fistful of “Crumbled Wood”. He said “This is what Your House is Sitting On”! (Video Link) [*** Link removed ***] “PANIC“! I couldn’t believe it I called Otter Owner Kevin Sanders. His response? “That Wasn’t in your Contract”! WHAT? I collapsed, “I couldn't Breathe”! Fearing another stroke, I ended up in the ER!. Follow up phone calls were intercepted by Kevin's Office asst. He instructed her to tell me to call his lawyer instead. Response from the owner: We take your concerns very seriously and attempted to discuss this issue with you when it was brought to our attention. Unfortunately, we felt it was in your best interest to defer to a third party and those attempts to resolve and communicate have failed because you will not return his calls. RE-Otter Response: The "THIRD PARTY" Otter's response referred to is "Otters Lawyer". REALLY?? “I” should call "YOUR" Lawyer for "MY" best interest? "YOU PEOPLE "ASTOUND ME”! NOTE: I had to edit my original post (Below) to respond.

They did a great job on the work they were hired to do in our crawl space. We had a sub-pump, electrical outlet and a partial interior french drain installed in the crawl space. I have since tried to contact them to get an estimate on doing additional work in our crawl space door and put a thicker liner down in one section of the crawl space. Kevin came out on April 16, 2019 to look at the work required and was going to get me an estimate. I text him on 5-13-19 to ask about the status of the estimate, no response. I called the office and spoke to Lorissa in June and was told she would check into it and one of them would call me back... It is now July and still no response. A courtesy call would have been appreciated so I could have found someone else if my job was too small.

We collected 5 bids for our crawl space work (minor fungal cleaning, floor liner, dehumidifier and sub-pump). Dry Otter’s bid was in the middle to higher range, though they seemed to have a better handle on what needed done – no more/no less. Couple points: On the front-end Dan provided a thorough estimate of what work needed done; Sterling and his crew were very professional and responsive to my questions and requests; Kevin came near the end of the project and inspected the work with me – he answered all my questions and also had the crew come back (within a week) to make minor adjustments; and lastly – throughout the process Lorissa (office coordinator) kept in contact with me on both scheduling and billing. Would hire/recommend again.

It went very well. Quality work and responsive. Their recommended solution was not over the top like some of the others I received. Also addressed a couple of touch up items right way.

We had our problem solved within a few weeks and we could not have asked for a better company than Dry Otter Waterproofing to be so helpful. With the heavy rain we just had, our crawlspace looks better than ever! Thank you so much Dry Otter for all your help. Highly recommended company. Kevin and Mark were excellent to work with.

We had cement block and we took out a permit and had it framed up and sheet rock and all of that. They put in another sump pump, they dug the trim in the areas we need it. They put in that dry prof sheeting. Then they covered the trench and stippling. They dry proofed two walls and part of another wall in the basement. Excellent work. Its held up.

Very well. Must mention that due to my travel plans the project had to be completed in a narrow time frame. They made it happen, even sending members of management to work a full day as their other teams had prior customer commitments. They know what they are doing and keep their promises. Highly recommend.

We had 3 bids and Dry Otter seemed to have a better handle on what was causing our moisture issue and they were also the most economical. The crew that did the installation was courteous and they worked hard. They paid attention to detail. We ended up having to have a drain line installed around one side of the foundation and a sump pump installed. The crew leader initially found that we had a mouse nest under the old vapor barrier. We had a pest control firm come out to alleviate that problem. They estimated that it would take 3 days but it ended up taking 4.5 days. Once they were nearly done they notified us that we had a drain from the bathtub that was leaking onto the new liner. Prior to starting this work we had humidity readings between 80-90%. With the liner and insulation board that was installed the temperature stays at approximately 68 degrees and the humidity reading is now 50-55%. Our floors are warmer in the winter and the crawl space will not have hot humid conditions in the summer. I had a few questions after returning home and inspecting their work Kevin came over and did a few minor items and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend Dry Otter to anyone that is thinking about having this done.

High integrity company and excellent customer service. We had humidity issues with our crawlspace and were impressed with the treatment plan provided by Lance among others we looked at. We were impressed with the installation and solution. Kevin (owner) came out to inspect the work of his installers and even repaired a vent that was not their responsibility - impressive customer service and work. We would highly recommend them.

All interactions with Dry Otter, to include Michael (consultant), Kevin (owner), and the 2-man installation crew were professional, prompt, and customer satisfaction-focused. The price for services was very competitive, especially given the consistent quality of service. This is a company that clearly maintains and enforces a culture of professionalism and high standards. Highly reccomend this company!

I have used their competitor in the past for a previous house. They were much more expensive, and they installed a inferior dehumidifier from Sears that did not last. Kevin, the owner, came out during the work and made sure his staff were doing quality work. He installed a commercial dehumidifier. We had to redo duct work for our hvac system. They came back in to redo the duct work area without any complaints and they never charged me for it! It wasn't his fault they came back; the duct work hadn't been installed correctly when the house was built. He is very responsive. His guys were very professional, cleaned up well, let us know when they were leaving and they worked hard while they were here. They were very pleasant and it was a nasty job! I would highly recommend them!
