After a lot of research, we hired Mr. Miller to build a covered porch to replace our old deck. We basically handed him a picture we'd found, discussed a few changes with him, and he produced the most beautiful porch we could imagine. He was very professional, congenial, kind, and an amazing builder. Everything was cleaned up after the building was completed. Even with lots of weather issues, we had our porch ready in time for our grandsons visit shortly before Christmas. We really love this porch and plan to use it all the time!

Chip was easy to work with and went out of his way to make sure we got exactly what we wanted and were pleased with the finished Master Bath. We have a beautiful bath that we can enjoy for many years. He helped with many creative ideas. Excellent workmanship and very professional. Was prompt in getting started right away and getting the work completed quickly. Beautiful tile work. We look forward to Chip doing more projects for us in the future.

Worked closely with Chip to insure each room remodeling was accomplished with a minimum of unexpected problems. Chip provided many great ideas to insure proper tile and grout selection. Honest. Fair. Does excellent tile work and takes pride in his work.

From our first meeting i realized that Chip understood what we wanted done, and had the skills and talent to turn our idea into a reality. i was impressed by his thoroughness and the questions he asked, which helped him get a clear picture of the project.
The project began with tearing the old deck down to the joists, adding new larger footers and adding new joists to enlarge the space. Within the first 2 weeks the room was framed and the quality of his work was excellent at every stage.
We added some things to the project as it progressed which slowed things down slightly, but again, i am very impressed with Chip's workmanship and professionalism. His communication is great and the project has been a pleasure from start to finish.
i have taken photos of every stage of the project, and will post those as soon as i figure out how. All i can say is I absolutely will use Chip Miller again and have and will continue to recommend him to anyone interested in home improvement projects.
i cannot say enough good about how well this job came off!

Chip Miller Home Improvements is very personable. He seemed very nice and pleasant. He's clean but I wouldn't use him again. He said he would fix certain things on my drywall and then when it came down to doing it I had to go back and point it out and he said, we would fix it, then I had to go over with my husband on a Saturday and stand and wait for him to fix it. He said, okay, do you see anything else? He acted like he was just ready to get out of there and he didn't do what he said he was going to do. We don't feel like we got our money's worth. I've had several other contractors come in for remodeling and I've used two or three other people and I would not have Chip Miller back. I want people to understand maybe Chip Miller would work out for some people but what I had him in there for, I just think I paid too much for what I got. When he actually got in there, he just skipped around and what really upset me with him was the painting. After he fixed the drywall and the ceiling, I had had popcorn ceiling taken down, I wanted him to smooth them out, fix it, mud them and sand them, there were places on the ceiling that were never fixed. I had him paint, I bought the paint and I asked him what paint he wanted, he used it and whenever he rolls the paint on the ceiling, they're supposed to come back with the brush down one or two inches on the wall and hit it with the brush so when it drips, it doesn't dry as a drip on the wall and he didn't cut in around the ceiling, he just rolled it. You can see roller marks four or five inches down my wall and he didn't wipe any of the drips off. When I got in there to do the wall and climbed up on the ladder and got ready to cut in the wall to do my line along the ceiling, there were drips everywhere and by then you can't get that off. You can't sand that off the wall, I know, I tried. I had read on his other reviews that he had taken wallpaper down and he had done a good job. I asked him when he got ready to paint the ceiling, are you going to cut in when you do the ceiling or do you want me to cut in when I do the wall? He said, whoever does the ceiling first usually comes down and inter-tube. I thought, that's fine but I didn't expect him just to roll it on and just leave it, that was very disappointing and I could never get the streaks, you can stand on one side of the room and look across the ceiling and there was streak in it. He repainted a room for me to try to get the streaks out, I said, in this room, the walls are all white and I'm doing the ceiling a real light sky blue. I said, I'll buy you another gallon of paint and he said, that'll be added to your quote to put another coat on there. I said whatever it takes, this ceiling has got to be painted again. I'll pay you more to do the ceiling and do you want me to buy another gallon of paint? He said, no I think I've got enough. There was a little bit in that can and I came to find out later, he had taken that little bit of blue, quarter of a can of blue and mix it with white to get enough to put a quick coat on that ceiling, he made a different color. When I went back in there to touch it up and open the can, it wasn't what the label was on the outside of the sample that was on the top of the can lid, you could see where he had mixed white on it. If they are willing to stand and watch him, it's okay. There was so much dust going on from the sanding and I truly thought he had it under control.

"[Member Names] hired me to go in and try to repair ceiling work that they tried to do but they messed it up . They tried to strip there textured ceiling and put many, many gouges in the sheetrock it was very difficult to see them all and to repair them.I quoted them 1500.00 dollars to do half of the house. They had a small budget to work with and they said the job is mine if I would do two more cielings for them, including a large water damadged area.I felt sorry for them that they could not physically climb a ladder all that well so I took the job.I quoted one coat of paint and applied the paint. They provided a paint with a sheen to it that would require a second coat but with there small budget they could not afford the extra cost. The agreement was to one coat the cielings and let that paint run on to the walls and they will cut the wall color into the cieling. The sky blue ceiling and me mixing white with it is so very bogus!!! She provided the paint why would I try to stretch it??? The streaking she is talking about is lack of a second coat of paint that there small budget could not afford. If I knew she was going to come in at dark time of the knight with a spotlight and inspect my work I would have charged her after hour rates that her small budget could not afford and work in the dark.It has been about three months since we have done her work I wonder why the issue is now and not then? I have been in business of my own since 1993. It is now 2014, I must be doing something right !!! Have a blessed day to all very sincerely CHIP MILLER."

Chip has been very responsive to our concerns and questions. Since we are out of town our daughter meets with him. He goes over details and keeps us informed of the project. Since the work just started I can't comment on the full project yet, but so far so good. He also was very easy to work with on holding costs down, letting us help with finishing room by doing painting. Can't wait to see it finished.

Our house is an older home built in 1957 and nothing is today's standard size. In order to install a new updated front door (with side lites), the entire front entrance had to be removed. Because the entire front entrance had to be opened, the new door had to be installed the same day. The doorway opening had to be framed in to fit a smaller modern door.
Chip Miller did an excellent job in removing the entire front entrance and framing it in to fit the new door. His work was quick efficient and he wasted no time and the door fit perfectly. He returned the next day as he said he would to finalize the trim work. The door is a perfect fit and we are extremely pleased with the work.
His price was fair, he showed up on time, completed the work in a very professional manner and he cleaned up his area and took the old door to the landfill. We would highly recommend Chip.

I wanted an entirely new look for my fireplace and hearth. I had a general idea of what I wanted, but I wanted a professional to install it and to give me design ideas. Chip was very professional, knowledgeable and a joy to work with. He quickly responded to phone calls, was always punctual and polite. He gave me some ideas about the glass tile insert on the front of the hearth and explained very clearly the visual outcome of lining up tiles, grout lines, etc. I have had a lot of work done by and quot;professionaland quot; people, but Chip is a professional without a doubt. It is obvious Chip takes great pride in his work, respects his customer wishes and their property. He maintains a spotless work area and is very conscious about being neat, not only in his work area, but also in his appearance. Chip is a hard worker and puts in a full days work for his customers. I will certainly give a high recommendation for his work! Chip has my permission to show his work to prospective customers. I am so pleased with my new fireplace!!

I found Chip Miller to be both knowledgeable and professional. When he came over to see the two small jobs we needed done he brought up how to be sure the mold around the tub wasn't a bigger problem than re-caulking. Mr. Miller said and quot;re-caulking will remove the mold you see but it won't necessarily fix the problem.and quot; I was SO pleased to hear that Mr. Miller, like myself, wanted to solve the problem, not just quote the job for what I asked.
Upon Mr. Miller's recommendation, we contacted Serv-Pro to take a look. We have also done business with Serv-Pro and have the highest confidence in their work and that they do only what needs to be done to fix a problem. Serv-Pro did not find any further mold - it was free for them to come out to look at the tub - so we scheduled Mr. Miller to re-caulk our tub.
Mr. Miller is polite, punctual, and respectful of his customers and their property. During the tear-out Mr. Miller took the time to show me what he found before starting to re-caulk. His findings confirmed Serv-Pro's conclusion there wasn't any evidence of mold behind the grout or tile. He did a beautiful caulk job and cleaned up the area when he was done.
The price we paid was reasonable and well-worth Mr Miller's knowledge and quality work. His years of experience are apparent by the discussion of the job and points he brings up.
We will have Mr. Miller back to do the second small job we have once our custom sink is ordered and arrives. And we're putting him in our rolodex for future work.
I feel the need to address some of the low scores given Mr. Miller based on his not being bonded and insured. If you prefer the company doing your work have these items, then search for one and ask for that information before a company comes out to do a quote. It will save both of you time, energy, and money. It is unfair and outright mean to give low scores based on a company not meeting your preferences when as Mr. Miller has stated, his company meets all NC state requirements.

The project overall went well. No big surprises. Chip's skills are extremely varied. He worked well with others to coordinate delivery of cabinets, and glass shower doors.

From the beginning Mr. Miller was professional, quick to reply, and finished the work efficiently and expertly. We added to the original estimate which meant his one-day job required two days to complete but he maintained his composure and put in the extra time. It was pleasant that he didn't inflate his quote because of the extra work but added a very reasonable sum for the second day.
This renovation was for a family in need due to health issues and Mr. Miller's compassionate response is greatly appreciated.
I would strongly recommend you give him a try! He is now our first choice for renovation and remodeling.

This house was built in 1959 so there were multiple layers of wall paper on plaster walls. Chip was very careful to remove the paper without damaging the walls. He was meticulous in matching the color of the door way and the floor threshold to the existing colors and to the overall style of the house. He was conscientious in making sure we were happy and doing what we wanted done. He was very good about cleaning up every day and keeping us posted on the progress of the job. He is personable yet quiet and professional.
This old house held many surprises during remodeling. Chip handled them all without being flustered. For example, in the middle of this project, we had an electrician upgrade the old wiring in the house; we also had a new ac/furnace installed. So, that means that at least 2 days Chip had to work without electricity and without air conditioning during some hot humid days. He maintained a sense of humor and good relations with the other guys who were working. We have more work to be done and will call him!

Through no fault of Chip's, we had some roadblocks, but he spearheaded the effort to get the situation
corrected.. Other than that, Chip was on time, a good worker and got things accomplished.
