"I live in Florida but my mom lives in Wilmington and needed a new kitchen sink installed.  I went directly to Angie's List and based on their positive reviews, called DB Plumbing to see if they could do the install.  I explained that as the sink was heavy it needed to be picked up at the store first and then installed at the house.  Jo said this would not be a problem and we scheduled a time.
The installer arrived on time and installed the sink as promised.  The price was fair and my mom was ecstatic so it was a relief off my shoulders.
Thanks DB Plumbing and thanks Angie's List.

"The guys came on the first day to look over the work to make sure we were all on the same page.  We walked through the project and quote they had provided.  After that, they got to work on the repairs.  It took a little longer than that predicted, but I'm very happy with the results.  It's hard to pick out where the plumbers cut the holes in the drywall to access pipes, excellent work.

"Our technician, Dameyan Jackson, called the night before the day of service to let me know the time that he would be here to service our system. On Friday, he called to let me know that he was available to come earlier than scheduled, if I would like. He arrived shortly after the phone call, came in and quickly recognized that the pump had failed. He was very knowledgeable and professional. I was very pleased with his service and look forward to him returning to install a new pump."

"Quick to respond and fix the issue. We needed a new electrical wire from the well pump to the house. They came out the same day, fixed it the following day and were beyond professional and customer service oriented. Very transparent about what was going on and the costs involved prior to any service work and throughout the process. Stuck to their estimate too! Some plumbing issues were also discovered and that was also fixed before the sunset that day. We were only without water for a few hours. Highly, HIGHLY recommended. We will definitely use them in the future."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.

Yes, it’s possible to install a sewage ejector pump outside rather than in a basement. However, there may be some extra steps involved, including running pipes from the inside to the outside of your home and digging (and re-filling) a hole for the basin. If you aren’t comfortable with this type of work, contact a plumbing pro to handle it for you.

Several indicators suggest it's time for a sump pump replacement. A key factor is age; if the pump is over 10 years old, its lifespan is likely ending. Performance issues are also clear signs, such as the pump running constantly, cycling on and off frequently, making unusual noises or vibrations, or failing to function at all. A faulty or burnt-out motor is another definite sign a replacement is needed. Additionally, if you notice any signs of incorrect installation, the pump should be replaced. For a definitive diagnosis, a vetted plumber can assess the pump and confirm whether a replacement is necessary.

Submersible and pedestal sump pumps are two popular types of sump pumps. Submersible models are covered by water in a sump pit, which helps keep the motor cooler and quieter. Pedestal sump pumps stick out of the sump pit, so the motor stays dry and is easier to access. Submersible sump pumps are the pricier option, but they also have longer life spans.
