Coastal Home Repair Unlimited' LLC provides expert home maintenance, repair and remodeling services to Wilmington, Pleasure Island and Bald Head Island. From cosmetic upgrades to storm damage repair to structural changes, we'll provide a precise plan, a definitive schedule and an extraordinary attention to detail. Owner, Brendan Barry, has been building and remodeling for 35 years and has the skill and knowledge to deliver your project on time and on budget. His Industrial/Commercial experience provides unique insight into many current popular design concepts and the years of OHSA training provide a safe work site.
"From the get-go, Brendan was so easy to work with. After explaining the project (a complete reno of a one-bedroom beach condo, third-floor walk-up), he was on board. He was mindful of the budget we set, flexible when we asked for changes, creative when solving a layout issue, readily available via text, email, or called directly (he ALWAYS returned the text, call, or email usually within minutes)...professional, courteous, timely, knowledgeable. If any issue arose, whether it was with supply-chain delays, questions with our project, or an interaction with neighbors/HOA, etc, he immediately called and gave us a heads-up. Brendan and his crew were there to accept appliance deliveries when we couldn't be there. He pointed out TO US items that we would not have noticed on the walk-through that he felt should be included on the punchlist. Just can't say enough about how pleased we are with the work that was done, and the process of working with Brendan was like working with someone we've known for a long time. We couldn't be happier with the end result."

"HORRIBLE CONTRACTORS!!! I have had contractors before and experienced some issues but this Anthony guy is very unprofessional and he is an absolutely nightmare! Not a single item was completed from the contract he and I agreed on and he took 60% of the contract amount and he stopped working the property. I had a property with some cosmetic work stuff and repairs which shouldn’t be that complicated. After he toured the property and gave me estimated time frame for 2 weeks. I know normally how it is not done with contractors so I asked him a few more times and confirmed if he could really finish it in two weeks. He was confident and said two weeks for no problem. After it has been almost 4 weeks, not even a quarter of work has been done and I noticed he didn’t even show up. He has so many excuses and complaints every single time when I contacted him. It felt like he was working for free which was not true. We agreed on 3 installment payments, 1st installment, before the job start about 30% of the total price, and 2nd one, 1/3 of the total price, and the last one at the completion of the job. After 2 weeks of work and not much of work has been done, he already requested for the 2nd installment. I asked him, the work has not been done 2/3 of the job, more over not even half way done. Anyway, he got upset and he wouldn’t continue the job if I didn’t pay. So I paid and then BOOM! He didn’t show up at work and when I asked him, his answer was it is too cold to work at the property. He made excuses and excuses and he said he will only come back if the heater is fixed. I did and texted him and called him. NO RESPONSE. Besides, his quality of work is horrible. He and his crew painted all over, light fixtures, light bulbs, floors, even bathtub. What kind of painter paint over the tub?! They simply didn’t even covered the parts not supposed to paint but they were so lazy and sloppy worker. They installed the brand new room doors, two out of three, didn’t even close properly and didn’t even use the shim. Installing the door is one of the basic carpentry job and he can’t even do that! I asked for the breakdown of the work and cost and no answer. When I confronted him for a few stuff, he just blah blah blah and repeating himself by making endless nonsense and not doing the job at all. Even if he does a job, not a good quality one."

When you’re hiring a concrete contractor, ask as many questions up front as possible. Here are a few questions to ask a prospective concrete contractor:
Do you use stone or sand for base material?
How thick do you usually pour concrete?
How many years of experience do you have?
Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?
Do you have worker’s compensation?
How long have you worked with your subcontractors?
How do you handle garbage and waste disposal?
Do you provide a guarantee or warranty on your work?
Do you give free estimates?
How do you handle change orders?
Can you provide at least three references?
Can I see some of the work you’ve done in photos and the actual project?
Concrete repair costs range anywhere from about $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot to fill minor cracks, to about $6 to $14 per square foot to replace damaged concrete slabs. Repair costs vary widely depending on the size and type of work needed. For example, replacing 100 square feet of driveway will cost between $600 to $1,400, on average.
Yes, concrete contractors should be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed concrete contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. States have different requirements for concrete contractor licensing, so be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification, which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Depending on the cost to repair your driveway, it may be more cost effective to tear out and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The cost to repave a driveway ranges between $1,400 and $12,100, including removal of the old concrete. Contact a reputable concrete contractor for advice and an estimate. They may have a good reason for going with repairs or replacement after assessing your driveway. You may also have the option to resurface your driveway or pave over it without taking out the existing one.
Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.
