"I would have given them 5 stars on overall service; however they were only able to install one light fixture. They did not have a tall enough ladder for the other. They did s great job on the other light."

"What great service! “Easy” came out the day before to evaluate the job, our needs and provided a fair price to complete the work. On the day of installation, he showed up on time and ready to work and complete the job. He is an experienced plumber who cares about his customers and the quality of his work. We’ll definitely use G.L. Ward Plumbing again for any future plumbing needs!!"

"This is our second time to have work done by swift. I will continue to call them because they actually show up & work. The work that’s been done is 5star the technicians are educated and have a work ethic. Yes they pull permits & have their work checked! Our outstanding technicians were James & Javiel. They tore out & installed all ductwork under our home in three days. It has made a world of a difference in our home. Thank you guys for taking care of us & making our home a lot more comfortable. I highly recommend the yearly service program. It has paid off for us."

"Mgr Jeffrey offered free estimate next morning. Had two outdoor hoses were unable remove from hose bibs; were seized on. afraid needed new hose bibs! BG sent tech Joseph Lopez who was professional, knowledgeable & personable. After assessing bibs advised cost for removal of hoses and/or to install new bibs. i gave the go ahead to do his best to remove hoses! noted he consciously covered his shoes when coming through home from front to back yards. He patiently & carefully tried a few removal methods including the spray/wrench we had tried. He was finally able to remove them by carefully using a hack saw! He also installed a new hose connecting part on ea bib w/new threads that are guaranteed 2 yrs. It was third of the price new bibs would have cost! We so appreciated the extra conscientious efforts Joseph Lopez made to repair the hose bibs giving us excellent results at economical price! Thank you! again, we are very happy satisfied customers of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing"

"They completed the work for me within a few days of the initial phone call. The plumber was very knowledgeable and professional. As well, the quote for the work was very reasonable and lower than the other quotes that I received. I will definitely make Vigilant Plumbing my "hometown plumber" whenever I need those types of services."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.

Some sump pumps are powered by water rather than electricity. Water-powered sump pumps generally use one gallon of city water to pump out two gallons of water from its basin. Therefore, if you're looking at a potential 10,000-gallon flood, your sump pump will need to use 5,000 gallons of city water to prevent it.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

No. Sump pumps have different capacities, which refers to the volume of water that they can remove. They also come in various horsepower ratings, which measure the size of the pump’s motor. For many homes, 1/3 horsepower is enough. But if you live in an area that floods often, you might need a more powerful model.

Every three to four months, you should clean any dirt and debris off of your sump pump. You should also check the inlet screen (at the bottom of the pump) to make sure that it isn’t blocked. On top of that, you should deep clean your sump pump once per year—or hire a sump pump pro to do it for you.
