"Wes Reese with Straight Edge Painting came out right away when requested. We had a bad plumbing leak the night before. He gave us a quote on the spot to remedy the situation and the next day him and his crew were there. They repaired a 2' x 3' hole, scraped the ceiling to smooth and touched up the walls after painting the ceiling. This happened on a Thursday and allowed us to continue with out closing on Monday. Big thanks to Wes and his crew!"

"They did an excellent job! They ended up painting our whole house including some ceilings. There was paint designs they had to cover up and you can’t even tell anything was ever there. They had to fix holes in the wall, etc. they did so well that we asked them to remodel a room for us. They combined two rooms into one and it looks awesome! I keep sending them requests for other things I’d like done!"

Customers say: Quality work

"We had damage from leaks in the roof. After getting the roof fixed AB Drywall came in and patched a couple of holes and remudded the entire ceiling. They apply the mud so that no sanding is needed. The ceiling looked great when they finished. We couldn't have been more pleased with the work."

Small jobs welcome

"Luis and his team are very professional , very focused and very polite and transparent! They completed all jobs thoroughly and in a very timely manner. Unsightly "popcorn" style was removed from ceiling, and now the newly primed an painted ceiling looks beautiful! They took the time to properly cover all furniture and appliances as well. The entryway (landing) at front door, was also completed very nicely, and all mold and damage on the garage wall was professionally and thoroughly removed. They drywalled and painted the opposite garage wall which was unfinished, and now my garage is properly insulated. EXCELLENT work! I'm currently discussing other jobs with Luis for the very near future. I am very pleased with the work done!"

"I had originally sent Albert's Paint an email to request an appointment for an estimate along with 2 other companies. I ended up calling to get the estimate scheduled. The estimate that was given was well below that of the other two companies. This would normally be a red flag if it weren't for the fact that they had several good reviews on Angie's List. A relative was there while the work was bing done. Initially there was a little confusion about what was to be done. The contractors were told the Master bedroom, but I wanted to have the wall paper removed and the walls painted in my kitchen and bathroom along with the hallway ceiling. I had kept a copy of the itemized estimate and had my relative show them the sheet. Overall they did a really good job. You can't tell that the walls had to be heavily spackled. When moving the refrigerator, they accidentally put a small tear in my vinyl floor. I left them a message that night and they were out the next day to repair it.

"Mr. Rosas and his team are just great at everything they do. I was remodeling a rental property to become my primary home. Everything had to be repainted (ceiling, walls, doors, trim, etc.). On top of that, light fixtures were moved, walls were cut open to add support structure, and several other things resulting in a lot of drywall work. M&H Painting did an excellent job on the drywall work and the painting made it look like a new house. This is the third project that I've used M&H Painting and I've found nothing that they do not do very well. I will definitely use them in the future."

"After the repair was done I noticed a leak in my bathroom ceiling where one of the roof vents were replaced. I called the Subcontractor Brian on a Saturday morning. The weather was cold and raining. He was at my house within the hour up on the roof and fixed the leak. I havent had any leaks since. I would hire Brain the Subcontractor again."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cover a popcorn ceiling, which is often more cost-effective and easier than scraping it off. Common methods include using ceiling-grade drywall, applying a skim coat, or installing beadboard panels to create a smooth, updated finish. Covering the ceiling can also protect you from asbestos exposure if the material contains it. However, it's important to note that this method only seals off the asbestos and does not eliminate it, which could be a concern for future renovations or home resale. If you suspect your ceiling contains asbestos, it's best to hire a local asbestos abatement company to test the material and manage its safe removal.

In most cases, it is worth removing popcorn ceilings because they are considered outdated and can make a home more difficult to sell. Buyers typically prefer a smooth, modern finish, so removing the texture can increase a home's value and appeal. The necessity can sometimes depend on the housing market; in a competitive market, buyers may be more willing to overlook minor renovations. The most critical factor is the potential presence of asbestos, which is common in older popcorn ceilings and poses a significant health hazard if the material deteriorates. If you know your ceiling contains asbestos, you are required to disclose this when selling, which can be a major deterrent for buyers. In this situation, it is highly recommended to have a professional remove or encapsulate the ceiling to resolve the issue before it impacts the sale.

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.

No, not all popcorn ceilings have asbestos, but a vast majority do. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned its use in 1973, although it still may have been used up through the early ‘90s. But, in general, homes built or remodeled before the early ‘80s likely utilized materials with asbestos. That being said, a professional test is the only way to determine for sure.

Yes. Sagging ceilings often indicate more severe problems, such as structural damage, roof leaks, and pest infestations. As the sagging expands, your ceiling may eventually collapse, posing a threat to your physical safety and leading to expensive repair and restoration costs. That’s why you need to fix sagging ceilings as soon as you notice them.
