"Samuel is extremely competent, timely, responsive, and transparent. Unfortunately, we had a roof installed a few years ago by a company who cut corners, and STMZ came to repair two separate leaks in the “new” roof. He documented every step of the process with photos, and explained what he was doing. (Most contractors, in my experience, do not take the time to explain the process to you!) I highly recommend his services, and if we ever need to replace the roof, STMZ will be the company we will call."

"I hired Neli over a week period for 3 different appliances, my dryer, washing machine, dishwasher, and even kitchen sink! I had a fantastic experience: 1. I fixed my dryer with Thomas' excellent remote guidance, changing the timer and the switch! Fabulous guidance Thomas, with lots of money saved! I learned a lot in the process. 2. I determined that there was no dishwasher leak and in the process learned how to check for leaks and trouble shoot for some common repair issues. It cost $40.00 but as I had some water on the floor, I was ready to get a new dishwasher. Now, I am confident that it wasn't a leak and caused by putting in the dishes in a funny manner and not a repair issue. I am using the dishwasher now again with no problem. 3. I determined with Thomas' help that the washing machine had a major problem and could have spun out of control into my wall....no question, it was time to get a new washing machine! This was a well spent $40.00--I even got Thomas advice on purchasing a new washing machine and what to look for. 4. I checked the drainage on my kitchen sink and learned how to empty out the "trap" and that most likely, I am okay, but what to swap out if I have continuing issues with slow drainage. In the end, I saved lots of money, gaining and learning valuable experience! Absolutely fabulous service!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

In Laurel, quality plumbing work is evident when pipes are neatly routed and firmly secured, with proper drain slope to prevent backups. All fixtures should deliver consistent water pressure, and drains should clear quickly. After installation, request documentation like inspection records and warranties. Confirm that approved materials are used for local water conditions and that all visible joints are tightly sealed and leak-free.

Helpful?

In Laurel, plumbing projects may reveal hidden issues like outdated galvanized or polybutylene pipes that require replacement, or tree root intrusion in sewer lines, especially near older trees. Permit fees and code-required upgrades can add to expenses. Unexpected repairs may be needed if asbestos or lead is discovered, or if pipes are difficult to access behind walls or under concrete slabs during drain cleaning or pipe replacement.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Laurel should prioritize a plumbing inspection to check for leaks and corrosion, especially in older homes. Schedule a water heater flush to address mineral buildup, and consider a sewer line camera inspection for peace of mind. Upgrading to low-flow toilets and installing a water softener can help manage hard water. Always locate and test all main and emergency shut-off valves.

Helpful?

For plumbing maintenance in Laurel, keep a heavy-duty plunger, adjustable pipe wrench, and plumber’s snake for clearing clogs. Pipe insulation is useful for sudden cold snaps, while Teflon tape and plumber’s putty help seal joints. Stock water softener salt to combat local hard water, and have a water shut-off key, flashlight, and wet/dry vacuum ready for emergencies or quick plumbing repairs.

Helpful?

In Laurel, watch for slow-draining sinks, persistent low water pressure, or water discoloration, as these can signal mineral buildup or hidden leaks. Recurring clogs or gurgling drains may indicate sewer line issues. Unusual sounds from the water heater, musty odors, or damp spots in the yard can point to larger plumbing problems that require prompt inspection and possible drain cleaning or pipe repair.
