"Hyperion came out and gave a quote for the window replacements. Explained the work that would be done and how it would be done. Showed up on time to do the work and did a fantastic job. So rare now days that someone actually says what they are going to do, does it well and professionally."

Customers say: Super punctual

"This isn’t the first time County remodeling has done work for us! I added above windows, siding and doors because they did that a few years ago for us, and were great to work with. We were happy to have them back to help remodel our basement and add a shower to our bathroom. They did great work! My bathroom is exactly as i had envisioned in my head. I absolutely love it!! The quality of workmanship and materials used is above and beyond my expectations. Respectful of property, friendly, easy to work with. Will definitely hire again! Thanks for your great work as always!"

"I used H&F exteriors to redo the complete outside of my home. From top to bottom. My windows were the original windows to the home, now that it is summer time, my AC Unit barely runs, no where near to what it use to. From the window installers, to the guys on the roof during the hot day, and the siding guys. The entire team did a great job. I worked with Jill and she was easy to work with. Highly recommended."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Whether you should repair or replace a screen door depends on the type and extent of the damage. It is easy and economical to repair a small tear in the mesh using a widely available DIY patch kit. However, if there are large tears, multiple damaged spots, or if the screen is made of a specialized material, replacing the entire screen mesh might be a better long-term investment for a tidier appearance. You should also consider the condition of the frame; if the frame itself is damaged, it's likely time to replace the entire door. Other factors to weigh include whether you want a new style or need a more durable door.

The most affordable way to screen in a porch is to add a base track system to an existing wooden frame. The whole process should cost around $2,000 for supplies, depending on the size of your porch. It’s much pricier to build a screened-in porch or sunroom from scratch—and you’ll probably need to hire a contractor for a project like that.

Window seals don’t last forever, so they’ll inevitably fail for one reason or another. One of the most common reasons is the expansion and contraction of the glass. When the glass gets warm from sunlight, it expands and adds pressure to the seal; at night, as the glass cools, it contracts. This process, day in and day out, can eventually cause the seal to fail. Other common sources of failure include the house settling over time, chemicals that damage the seal when repainting windows, and incorrect window installation.

Most window screens last for about 10 to 12 years, assuming they are made from quality materials and receive proper care. The lifespan of common materials like fiberglass and aluminum can vary based on weather exposure, as constant sun or harsh winters can accelerate wear and tear. Regular cleaning and basic maintenance can help extend their life. Signs that a screen needs to be replaced include rips, tears, brittle or sagging material, fading, or a bent frame. While small tears can often be repaired, larger areas of damage typically mean it's time to replace the entire screen.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.
