"Seth and his crew respect the trees, the property and the customer. They did all of the work without having to drive any heavy machinery onto the property,, so the yard was not damaged at all. They had two guys up in the trees with chainsaws and two on the ground picking up and raking. When they were finished, the trees looked great. Not like they had been hacked up, but that they had been neatly trimmed. No more dead branches hanging and falling. Just very clean looking. I just bought this old House and have a lot of improvements to make, so I could not afford to get all of the tree work done at once. We are doing it in stages. I am planning to have them back to do more work on my property in the near future. I was very impressed with their whole operation!"

"I was so pleased with this tree service. In addition to removing 2 trees, 3 stumps were grinded. A tree was trimmed in the front yard; they even trimmed our hedge. A large pile of brush and limbs was removed from our backyard. They left the property looking much better than it did when they arrived. I would most definitely recommend these professionals for any tree work you need to have done. Thank you so much."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Christian and Lupe have a great family business. They did everything on time and exactly what they said they would do and we are very pleased with the job they completed for us. We had a difficult area to take out a couple of trees where they could not use all of their equipment but they did exactly what we wanted and cleaned up very thoroughly. We definitely recommend Martinez Tree and Lawn Service for tree work."

"We were amazed by the service we received from A&R Tree Service and Landscaping. Armando came out to discuss options and provide an estimate the morning after we spoke on the phone. His crew was out the same afternoon to remove a huge limb that had broken off our silver maple during the storm but was still in a dangerous position. The next day of good weather they returned to do trimming on three of our trees. Armando has a good knowledge of what is healthy and not healthy for a tree and also what can be done to try to reduce risk of property damage. His crew worked like a well-oiled machine. They had two climbers who were able to get into all the areas of our maples to trim things that other companies could not reach. They were obviously very experienced in roping off the large limbs and carefully lowering them to the ground, skillfully maneuvering them around our three power and phone lines. They cleaned up well, raking the entire area when they were done trimming. We look forward to using them again for any future tree and landscaping needs."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

There are a few general rules to follow that will help you prune your trees correctly. One of the most important rules is to prune during the correct season for the type of tree you have. Typically, pruning should be during late winter. For younger trees, you should not remove more than a ⅓ of the tree's crown when pruning. Also, remember to remove dead and diseased branches first, then proceed with pruning the rest of the tree.

Light-bark trees are most notorious for producing lots of sap when wounded. These varieties include maples, birches, poplars, dogwoods, magnolias, and elms, and they will bleed more when the trees are dormant. That’s why it’s a good idea to prune them in the summer months rather than waiting until winter.

Yes, it can be good to remove dead branches from trees. Dead branches can lead to rot in other areas of the tree. They can also cause damage if they fall on a house, shed, fence, car, pool, or other structure or property. However, it’s important that dead branch removal is done safely. If the branch is high in a tree or requires a lift or ladder to access, consider calling a professional tree removal company, as they will have the experience and equipment to do the job safely.

Getting a tree pro with the right experience can be the difference between your transplanted tree surviving or not. When hiring a local tree transplanting and removal service, follow up on references, check their portfolio, ask for a breakdown of the costs, and get proof of liability and workers’ compensation insurance.

Also, look for companies certified by the International Society of Arboriculture or registered with the Tree Care Industry Association and make sure they have an appropriate state or city license.

Yes, forestry mulching can grind stumps, but the level of effectiveness depends on the equipment used. Drum mulchers can break down smaller stumps, but larger or deep-rooted stumps may require a dedicated stump grinder for complete removal. If full stump removal is necessary for replanting or construction, additional excavation may be needed. Always check with your forestry mulching provider to confirm whether they offer stump grinding and if their equipment is suitable for your specific needs.
