Our trees have grown tremendously since the treatment. One tree still isn't doing so well, but Chuck warned us ahead of time that we may need to remove it. It is fairing OK, we still don't know whether or not it will have to be removed.

Liked that Chuck is a certified arborist. Only trims what he believes should be trimmed. Tough to schedule because he is so busy. I waited 7 weeks but he did a great job.

This is the 3rd or 4th time we have called Chuck. Most knowledgeable, honest, courteous and effective arborist around. This is the second tree he has saved, when others suggested cutting it down. He sent a trimmer to cut what was dead and told us what to do in order to save the rest of the tree, which is very valuable for shade and aesthetics. Very busy, so be patient, especially during stormy periods, but worth the wait!

We called him back after they leafed out and we were pleased that he suggested just removing the dead limbs and inject both our Ash trees for the emerald ash borer that is devastating this area. We had him inject both trees and remove the dead limbs in the one tree. I also had him remove some of the lower limbs from a Mulberry so it didn't interfere with mowing. We had several old limbs put to the side of the yard that were too big for us to cut up and his crew removed those for us as well. We were very pleased with the process and the clean up work. I would not hesitate to use him again. He also counseled a neighbor on the condition of their Ash Tree that needs to be removed. I had a previous bid for the injections and Chuck was right in the ball park and even slightly under the other bid. I did not get any other bids for the other work, but based on my past experience with having trees trimmed, I felt it was a reasonable bid. I would add that Chuck came highly recommended to us.

Chuck Bingham offers an educated, personal service. The first time I used his service I had bids from two other companies. The other companies gave cookie-cutter (and MUCH higher) estimates, including services I didn't need or had asked for. Chuck insisted in me walking the yard with him and his assessment was based on MY trees, not "THE" trees. I asked him about statements in the other bids. One bid mentioned that one of my trees had softer wood and should be removed. Chuck said, "Yes, that tree is a softer wood, but yours is healthy and in good shape. No reason to remove it." I've used his services for the past four (more?) years, and been extremely happy. Very personal, professional and so cost effective he's usually totally booked.

Chuck came and gave a very reasonable estimate. When I faxed him my signature to confirm we agreed to the terms, I also asked him to look at a dogwood tree to trim. At this point in the process, his truck became disabled, so he wasn't able to get back for the work until over a month later (why I rated N/A on punctuality - don't want that to count against him). He called me the day he ultimately came since I wasn't home and gave me an estimate on the dogwood, which I approved. He completed the job, and we're very pleased, Our crab apple looks like a beautiful (large, life-sized) bonsai because of the artful turns the branches take, while Chuck removed lots of little twig/smaller interior branches and found appropriate places to cut back to so that the tree is not touching the house. I have used him many times previously and trust him to recommend what's best to keep our trees healthy, even when it means he's not making any money. He's willing to answer questions and give recommendations on other trees' care, even when he's not being asked to do anything with them. He cleans up thoroughly after completing work.

"Thanks for the review, but sometimes things like breakdowns my truck are out of ones control and you have to rely on someone else to complete the job in my case a new engine installed in my truck."

Excellent. We had high winds and torrential rain last night which broke a very large limb of our River Birch tree. The limb was very dangerous as it fell on our front steps but was still attached to the tree. We called Chuck and he was out here at 9 the next morning. Chuck is an arborist and gave us much information on the care of our trees. Will definitely use again!!

Chuck was awesome! He took his time and explained what was wrong with the tree and the steps we could take to save it on our own.  He recommended products that he uses and gave us detailed information including where to get the products for the best price.  He was extremely knowledgable and fun to talk with.  If out tree doesn't pull through, we will DEFINITELY call Chuck and have him address the tree. We will also gladly use him for any other tree issues and refer him to our friends and family.

Job went very well. Chuck was right on time...to the minute....both on coming out to do the estimate and on the day he came out to do the work. Job was just as quoted and he did a complete clean up of he yard. Also gave so good suggestions regarding some other issues that I had not even thought about. Very fair price for the amount of work he did and no high pressure sales pitch regarding other trees on the property. A++++++++++++++++

This is something that I will have to do every year for 7 years.  I also did this treatment last year.  Sigh.  Chuck told me that I should have called him when the trees first started to leaf out.  I wish he had sent me a reminder but he said he no longer does that as too many of his clients move and the cards got returned to him.  After he injected the trees he pointed out that I had carpenter ants feeding off the dead part of my tree.  He showed me how to treat that problem.  Chuck loves trees and convinced me to keep my huge ash tree even though it is right by my driveway and is in the way when I back out of the garage.  He said my energy bills would go up if I took down the tree because of the shade it provides.
Response from Leawood Tree Service
"Thanks for your response and hope your having good luck with the carpenter ants and they are taking the bait."

I contacted Chuck as I had used him several years prior to take out a tree. He returned my call and came out the next day to give us a bid. We accepted his bid and he came out one day later and did the work. We had
a huge limb from a 60 year old Maple come down from some heavy winds a couple of days earlier. He cleaned
up the tree from all the damaged limbs, cut up the limb that had come down and also removed several dead limbs from another tree. I had originally wanted to take down the whole tree and Chuck talked me out of that.
He was very friendly, gave us some good advice, was prompt, cleaned up the whole yard. I would recommend him to anyone and would not hesitate to use him again.

I highly endorse Leawood Tree Service. I first called Chuck for a bid a few years ago. I got two other
bids from big companies, but found Chuck highly rated on Angies List, so I put his numbers in the mix.
The other two companies came to assess my trees when I was at work (which I thought was great). I got bids in the $1000s from them.
Chuck insisted I be there when he looked at the trees. I grumbled, but met him. I'm SO glad I did - and was so, so impressed. He really knows his stuff, very professional and personable, and he cares about doing a good job.
He scoffed at the things the other companies tacked on, and told me about the maintenance needed for each tree. His bid? $100!
I had him back this year to do a general tree check and clean up. Again, a beyond-fair price, and he did even more than we talked about! This is service like it should be performed.
If you're in need of tree service, please give Chuck a call first! [I'm not related or getting paid to write this - it's just been hard to find
awesome people to work around my house, and I wanted to give him a shout out.]

I've used Leawood Tree Service before to thin a tree and was very happy.  When Mr Bingham returned to provide an estimate on my tree in the back yard,  I emphasized that we are bird watchers and as that is the only tree in our back yard, that while it needed to be thinned to prevent wind damage, I still needed to be able to reach and hang all my feeders.  When he returned to perform the work, I again reminded him that I needed branches left low enough so that I could hang all my feeders.  He removed all the feeders and assured me all feeders could be rehung on the tree after he was done thinning it.
I left him to do his job but when I came back to see his progress, I was stunned to see that he had cut off most of the lower branches (there are now only 2 that I can reach) and, in fact, the two branches are on one side of the tree and NONE that I can reach on the back side of the tree.  I'm unable to hang 1/2 of my feeders.  To compound the problem, we spend most of the summer on our screened porch and I knew that if he kept the low branches on the tree for my feeders, that it would provide the privacy that we need to keep car lights from shining onto our sitting area.  I can't tell you how shocked and devastated I was to see that he totally ignored my request to trim the tree based on MY needs and requirements -- and he chose to trim it the way he wanted.  I waited one day  to calm down before I wrote this review thinking that maybe I'd be less emotional about it but I was awake all night thinking about how, in my mind, he has ruined our enjoyment of our tree, the birds and our deck -- all because he decided to ignore my needs.
I know he didn't forget my insistence upon being able to hang the feeders as once he was done, he asked me if I could reach the feeders.  I could only reach 3 of 6!   If he was truly concerned about whether or not I could reach my feeders, he would have asked that question BEFORE he cut all the lower branches off.  This isn't some cheap haircut that will grow back!  I have absolutely no way of getting back those branches and the privacy they provided.

Before he left I told him how unhappy I was with what he had done.  He suggested I use a pole with a hook on the end to move the feeders but that was unworkable.  He had no solution for the privacy problem he created.
Now bird feeders are not a big deal for most people but my point is that when you work with Leawood Tree Service, this experience tells me that it isn't what YOU want that matters -- it is what HE wants.  If you use this company, be aware of that issue.

Response from Leawood Tree Service
"When I was called back I was told that the tree was too thick and that the lower branches were in the way of the mower people, as well as that the grass was fading away in the summer. I used a green pointer and told her the lower limbs with the bird feeder would have to be removed since most were only 3 to 4 ft off the ground. I told her that the bird feeders could be hung on higher limbs so she could still see the birds but she would have to have a small pole with a hook on the end to remove the feeders for filling. She seemed fine with that & when I return in 29 days I re-stated that to her before starting the work. I asked her if she had aquired a small wood pole with a hook, she said she just couldn't visualize that, so I told her I would take less branches off so I could hang the feeders myself since we were about the same height, she said fine and went back inside, when she came back out later she said I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD LOOK THIS OPEN and I don't like it and don't know what my options are now? I asked he if she wanted me to just quit she said no go ahead and finish the tree which I did, I then hung all the feeders back up myself so she could see the birds feeding. This house sits 2nd back in a culdsack and the street she is talking about is 100 yds away with a neighbors 6 trees all in the backyard that the lights she is talking about would have to filter through to get to her porch. The only NEEDS she told me about was being able to see the birds feeding, the limbs were too low for the mower people, & grass fading in the summer, NOTHING ever was mentioned about sitting out on the porch at night, car headlights and she needed to keep the lower limbs. I trimmed the tree to the NEEDS she told me about, I'm only 5'9" and I easily hung all the feeders when done with no problems myself. NOTHING WAS EVER MENTIONED ABOUT PRIVACY ! When she came out she said she couldn't reach the feeders I reached up and removed it and replaced it, she said that was not easy and she didn't want to do that, so I said I would go to a local Ace's and buy for her the wood stick and hook and bring it back to make it easy for her. When I returned she had taken all the feeders down and moved in different places and a small 10 inch plastic stool on the ground she had used to move the feeders. I showed her the stick with the hook and removed several feeders and replaced them showing her how easy it was now. She then said it looked to hard and she was upset about the removal of the lower limbs. I then said well there is nothing else I can do to make it easy for you & do you want this tool I just bought and made for you or not, she said yes just leave it by the tree. I bent over backwards for this customer and now know what she meant by OPTIONS with this bad report. I've been in this business for 20 years and on Angie's list since 2004 and have won the Super Service Award every year since 2005, so I will stand on my record and let the customers form their own opinions of this report."
