"A very pleasant group to work with at a good price. They were contracted to perform tree trimming, primarily to remove dead branches. I felt like it was slightly overdone, as many branches were removed that were not dead, leaving a significantly different look. Some dead branches were missed, and many of the cut branches stayed hung up in the tree, which ultimately fell down later or will be falling down later. I certainly am not an arborist, and maybe what seemed like the work was overdone, will work itself out with new and expanding fill in. If that is the case I take back anything that may have sounded negative in this review. They were certainly a pleasant group to work with and should be considered by others."

"It was an excellent service. They removed 5 trees and trimmed up 4 more trees in 6 hours period of time. Very reasonable price. They just charged me 2500USD for the work. We were very impressed with the service."

"I was so pleased with this tree service. In addition to removing 2 trees, 3 stumps were grinded. A tree was trimmed in the front yard; they even trimmed our hedge. A large pile of brush and limbs was removed from our backyard. They left the property looking much better than it did when they arrived. I would most definitely recommend these professionals for any tree work you need to have done. Thank you so much."

"Flexible to work with on the job. I had a couple of additions to the first estimate and they more than accommodating. I will have them out again. Trees look good, minimal damage to the lawn."

"Michael and Bruce are fantastic and really helpful with advising how to handle older trees with issues. Their team handily trimmed and removed limbs, branches, and entire trees on our acre+ lot. They also cleaned up boxwoods. The whole yard looks like it has had a spa day. We will use them again for future cleanups, snow removal, and more!"

Customers say: Quality work

"My daughter and her husband bought their first home and wanted to remove some trees for creating a yard and garden space. I took out the one that a large ladder could reach and cleared the fence of a LOT of brush. I piled this in the center of the backyard and looked at the tree, soft maple, that remained. I couldn't reach the branches and theorized about cutting steps into the trunk to achieve the goal. My daughter was not fond of my ideas. I was very happy to see that JC Garay and his crew were very prompt in getting the tree out as well as the MOUNTAIN of debris that I left. It is so glad to see professionalism is alive and well. Thank you!"

"I used A&R for a good sized tree trimming project at my house. I needed climbers in an area that was not easy to access with heavy equipment. Armando and his crew were responsive, respectful of my property and the surrounding structures. They were on time and on budget. They cleaned up after the work was done, and did an excellent job with what I needed done. I would 100% use them again! Armando was professional, and you could tell he takes pride in his work."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Unless it’s dead or dangerous, think twice about cutting down a tree in your yard. They’re good for health, well-being, wildlife, and the environment. Plus, local authorities often have regulations prohibiting the removal of trees, especially protected species or individual trees with historical value.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.

In nature, there are many things that can cause a tree to die, including diseases, insects, and natural disasters such as fires or droughts. Non-natural methods of killing a tree include herbicides or manual intervention, such as cutting it down. Consult a tree removal professional about your options for naturally killing a tree.

Absolutely. These steps are significantly easier, too, especially when it comes to preserving the root ball and moving the palm tree. However, you will want to make sure the tree has plenty of fertilizer to establish itself and start growing. Supports may also be more important, as it can take extra time for a potted palm to spread out its roots. If you are transferring a palm to another pot, you’ll want to move up a size or two to a larger pot. Make sure the pot has excellent drainage to keep the palm from getting waterlogged.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.
