"Leo, the owner, was respectable and courteous. We desperately needed landscaping work done at my home. He walked us through what needed to be done, he provided a quote and on we went. He did everything he said he was going to do, from removing bushes and one dead small tree, to trimming the hedges. He went above and beyond. His price was very reasonable. I will definitely use his services again for my next project. Look up his company, you'll be glad you did."

"We were amazed by the service we received from A&R Tree Service and Landscaping. Armando came out to discuss options and provide an estimate the morning after we spoke on the phone. His crew was out the same afternoon to remove a huge limb that had broken off our silver maple during the storm but was still in a dangerous position. The next day of good weather they returned to do trimming on three of our trees. Armando has a good knowledge of what is healthy and not healthy for a tree and also what can be done to try to reduce risk of property damage. His crew worked like a well-oiled machine. They had two climbers who were able to get into all the areas of our maples to trim things that other companies could not reach. They were obviously very experienced in roping off the large limbs and carefully lowering them to the ground, skillfully maneuvering them around our three power and phone lines. They cleaned up well, raking the entire area when they were done trimming. We look forward to using them again for any future tree and landscaping needs."

"The entire team worked tirelessly to get the job done and make everything look great. Mr. Hill and Mr. Brook really listened to what we wanted and checked in with us to make sure the work was satisfactory. Mr. Brook was out there with his team working. Thereâ s peace of mind when we knew Mr. Hill or Mr. Brooks would always be onsite making sure everything was safe and going smoothly. Itâ s hard finding a trustworthy tree company thatâ s courteous, kind, knowledgeable and goes out of their way to make sure the jobâ s done right the first time. We will definitely be calling them again since they do more than just tree and brush work. We also will be using their services to maintain the health of our new and old trees. Also, when they talk to you they treat you like an equal and with respect. After living here for over 12 years, this is the best experience weâ ve had with a tree service. Iâ m so glad we found them through their door flier! They also do veteran discounts as well as employee veterans and all-around good hard-working guys!"

"They removed a huge oak that was looming near our house, making a surgical cut that preserved the viable part of the tree and protected neighboring trees that would have been destroyed if the oak had fallen. They also removed a smaller tree that was dying. They repaired dents in the yard and raked up all the debris. The team was efficient, courteous, and well-equipped--one of the hardest working crews we have employed."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best way is to start controlling tree height long before it grows too large, via careful pruning through the years. But that’s not always possible. If a tree has become too high or too large, use selective pruning to remove the most troublesome branches, one by one, without topping the tree. Gently shaping a tree like this can, over time, correct problems. You can also find growth inhibitors to spray on a tree to stop it from growing too rapidly, but use these sparingly if at all.

Transplanting a palm tree is a similar process except for a couple of important differences. First, their root ball doesn’t need to be as large as a “true” tree, which makes them a bit easier to dig up and move around. Second, they struggle more with taking root and staying upright in a new location, so it’s important to give them extra support when staking.

The best time to cut down a tree is during its dormant season, typically in winter or early spring, after all the leaves have fallen. Removing a tree during this period is advantageous for several reasons. Frozen ground helps secure the tree stump, protects the surrounding landscape from damage, and reduces the risk of the tree falling in an unintended direction. With the leaves gone, there is less risk of the tree's foliage getting tangled with other trees. Additionally, since this is often a slower season for tree services, you may be able to hire a professional at a lower rate. This dormant period is also the best time for tree trimming.

Not all leaning trees are dangerous, but they can be a hazard as gravity may eventually cause them to fall. A key factor is whether the lean is new or has been present for a long time. Trees that have grown with a lean for years are not typically an immediate danger, but a sudden lean is a cause for concern as it often indicates weakening roots. If a tree is leaning more than 15% from vertical, you should consider having it straightened or transplanted. To be safe, it's always best to hire a professional arborist to inspect any leaning tree to assess the risk and avoid potential accidents.

The average lifespan of an oak tree is 100 to 300 years, so long as it isn’t impacted by diseases like sudden oak death. Some species will last shorter or longer, depending on where you live.
