"It took awhile for them to contact me but in fairness to them, i purchased right after the major flooding in December and they were very busy. Once they did contact me though, Jim was very polite and professional on the phone as he explained to me what they would do. We scheduled an appointment and the service tech (Ted) showed up right on time and got to work right away. He was very polite as he took the time to explain what he was doing and he was able to finish up the work in about an hour. We have not had enough rain lately to test the patch but hopefully all will go well.

"We had issues with our basement rear wall that had the potential to turn into structural problems, and were due to poor drainage. I wanted one company to fix both the structural and drainage at once with a holistic solution. I didn't want one company to come and dig up the backyard and then fill it in again without addressing the drainage. Atlas came and dug out the dirt behind the basement wall, then jacked up the house a miniscule amount, then straightened out the back wall. They also installed metal braces that tied the basement wall to the house joists, which puts a lot more support against it moving in the future. They then installed a french drain system at the base of the outside wall, put in a sump well and pump, then routed that to a daylight discharge in the front yard. They also connected the rear downspouts to the discharge. I was most impressed with the quality of the solution and the quickness in which it was installed. They estimated it would take a week to install, but in reality, they started on Tuesday and finished on Thursday. I received two bids on this project and Atlas was the lower one. The main issue I had was the time it took to get started. I paid my deposit on 31 Oct, but they didn't get started until 16 January. This was due to scheduling with other customers and weather pushing things back. I'm sure they had good reasons. It was also a little challenging to get updates on scheduling. I paid my deposit, then waited weeks without hearing anything. I finally had to call to get an update. As I recall, I ended up calling several times over the course of 2 months before I got a firm scheduled date. All in all, I am very happy with the job that was done. There has not been a major rainfall to put it to the test yet, but it seems like a quality solution."

"He was a nice man but I don't think he was much of an expert in waterproofing. He was prompt. I think he was a businessman who purchased the business and didn't know what to do. I just needed someone who knew what he was doing. The deal was not a good deal because he was just coming out to do basic inspection, which other companies can do for free. The whole thing was kind of bogus. When he came out, he first mentioned something about drain tiling. I asked him where he was going to put the drain tiles and he wouldn't even take another look. He came back again and said he didn't realize it was another level. He said he was going to recommend a french drain. Honestly, it was like a doctor who thought the patient wanted something to walk out of the door with and didn't know what to give him so he just wrote a prescription. It just didn't apply. I'm sure he knows what to do in standard, easy to read situations. I wouldn't recommend him. He told me he had another business which he tried to interest me in."

"Tried to rush three days of work into two days, didn't work. Still waiting for someone to return and seal the discharge pipes. Felt like they sent labor ready guys to do the job, I expected at least the foreman to be seasoned. Nevertheless the young men worked hard within their skill set. If you are thinking of outdoor gutter drains just get a landscaper to do it. Overall looking at the quality of the work, for the price I would of got the same service from a less expensive company."

"They did get the job done. Problem was 2 weeks ago it was clogged with "flushable" wipes and yesterday another wad of wipes. I literally stopped using them before ever calling the plumbers realizing they were the issue. He fixed the clog free this time but insinuated the idea that it was my fault. Unless they got stuck in the pipes on the way to the basement not my fault for the second time. Unsure about hiring again."

I am a licensed plumber in Illinois looking to start a company
The cost to install a drain pipe is $600 on average, but the total can range between $150 and $2,000. Some cost factors that influence your project price include the type of drain, the area’s accessibility, the proximity of existing drain lines, and whether you’re installing a new drain or replacing an old one. Replacing the p-trap or s-trap under a single fixture will usually cost around $150, while replacing a main drain pipe can cost well over $2,000.
Yes, most states require plumbers to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
We highly recommend leaving the work of replacing drain pipes to a professional plumber. Drain pipes are a key part of your plumbing system, and making mistakes during the installation or even using the wrong size pipes for your specific fixture can lead to an elevated risk of leaks and clogs. Additionally, drain pipes prevent harmful sewer gas from entering your home, so hiring a professional plumber is essential to keeping the risk of leaks and clogs low and avoid reducing your indoor air quality.
The average cost to unclog a drain is around $200, with prices ranging between $110 and $800, depending on the type of drain and the extent of the clog. Hiring a professional to snake the toilet or sink will usually cost between $110 and $275, a bathtub or shower typically costs around $225, and a main line clog can cost between $100 and $800 based on the severity of the clog and how far beyond the access point the clog sits. Since the labor involved varies, most plumbers will charge an hourly rate for drain cleaning.
The average cost to hire a plumber is around $100 an hour but can vary between $45 and $200 an hour depending on the plumber’s experience and the repair that you need. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays, and emergency plumber rates average $150 per hour, in addition to a flat-rate trip fee of $100 to $350.
