"The plumber arrived on time. Several days before he arrived, I had already removed the toilet and cleaned the remaining old wax from the bottom of the toilet. I had also removed the old, rusted and falling apart metal portion of the old closet flange, and all of the old wax rings. A portion of the old closet flange, which appeared to me to be plastic remained glued to the 3 inch I.D. black ABS drain pipe. The plumber glued a new closet flange inside and on top of the remaining portion of the existing old closet flange. He screwed the new closet flange down to the subfloor in three places. The subfloor was rotted away where the fourth screw should have gone. It appeared that two of the screws into the subfloor tightened down, but the third screw could not be tightened very much due to the condition of the subfloor. I had purchased a new wax ring and bolts at Lowes, as I had hopes of replacing the wax ring myself, but due to the rusted away closet flange, I decided I needed expert help and call the plumber. The plumber's wax rings were cold from being in the truck, so we used the wax ring I had purchased which was at room temperature. Also, the bolts that hold the toilet down, that the plumber had, did not have threads that went all the way to the head of the bold. Therefore, he used the bolts that came with the wax ring I purchased, since the threads went all the way to the head of the bolt. He installed the new wax ring and bolts and then set the toilet. He tightened the bolts, but the toilet would rock from side to side. He placed wedge shims under the toilet and between the wedge shims and tightening the bolts got the toilet secure and not rock. I wonder that since he left a part of the old closet flange on the drain pipe, and then installed the new flange on top, that maybe the closet flange was sitting too high, therefore requiring the wedge shims under the toilet. The toilet has not leaked since he installed the new flange and wax ring. I guess I'm a little disappointed that I didn't receive a bit of a reduction in the $409.00 charge since I had already removed the toilet and old wax ring, cleaned up the toilet and the remaining portion of the old flange and provided the new wax ring and bolts. I have concern that due to the poor condition of the subfloor, and that wedge shims were required, that the toilet may start rocking and/or leaking in the future."

"Needed basement/crack repair. We had water coming in the walls and from the floor of our finished basement. This company was timely in scheduling the initial inspection, prompt in e-mailing an estimate, and had the lowest estimate out of two we obtained. They showed up as scheduled, worked hard and were very professional. After the work was initially completed, we experienced a small "weeping" problem with the French drain system. They promptly came back out and made adjustments to the slope of the drain at no further cost. Six months, and several very heavy rains later, our basement remains completely dry. Highly recommend this company."

"This is a good company to deal with. James, the owner, was out within one hour to diagnose our problem. The next morning the technicians, Brian and Josh were out to take care of our drain issues. Brian made a point of showing me the camera footage of the main drain. The did a great job on the main and two other drains. They also cleaned up very well when they were done. Brian also noticed an issue with our bathtub stopper and fixed it without an extra charge. The pricing was transparent. They have a nice email notice system and called when they were on the way. "The owner of Atlas Foundations assessed my 75 year old home that had a wet basement with every rain since I purchased it in 2020. I compared his recommendation to 4 other foundation repair companies and chose to go with Atlas for their fair price, knowledge on the matter, good reviews & responsiveness. Although I could not wait to get this repair behind me so I could settle into my home completely, reduce mold exposure and not come home from work after a rainy day to shop vac water from the floor, I dreaded this week long repair. The foreman, James Watson and his crew showed up every day on time or early, patiently answered any and all of my questions, accommodated my smallest requests and made this stressful home repair go smoothly. My project included exterior excavation, exterior drain placement and carbon fiber straps inside. I admit that I am a picky clean freak and they guys did a nice job cleaning up behind themselves and were respectful of my property. I thoroughly interviewed 4 other foundation companies most of whom could get to my costly job "pretty quickly." Atlas had a 4 month wait and I am glad I waited. In my opinion, Woods Basement System, and Helitech Waterproofing are high pressure young sales people who want to "patch" a foundation issue rather than resolve it. Danneger & Son's Foundation was my next choice based on experience & reputation, but they wanted to charge TWICE what Atlas Foundations did. And the good news is, it rained for a week after Atlas Foundations did my repair & I have not had 1 drop of water in my basement. Thank you Atlas Foundations, Mike, Kim & James and crew!"

"Gary Kimberlin's team did a great job for us with a series of small projects which were too big for a handyman, but apparently too small for most contractors. Most of the general contractors we contacted through Angie's List never never got back to us, but Gary treated us as valued customers from the start. Gary himself contacted us to provide a bid, and his responsiveness was exceptional. He spent about an hour with us taking measurements and discussing what we wanted to accomplish. Maybe we could have found a cheaper bid out there somewhere, but we were pleased with the punctuality and quality of the work, so I don't regret a cent that we spent. We had a series of small tasks which Gary's team performed over a couple of days. They arrived and departed when they said they would. First, they installed roll insulation in the crawl space under our living room. Rather than stapling the insulation in place, they recommended a slightly more expensive hanging system which allows the insulation to be removed and then put back without damaging it. Since additional remodeling is always a possibility, we appreciated the foresight on this issue. Second, we had planned to install a skylight in the living room, but Gary suggested can lighting instead, and I'm glad he did. Any time you punch a hole in the roof, it could leak, no matter how well you seal the edges. Can lighting was less expensive and created no possibility of leaks. We weren't happy with the first set of can lights Gary's team installed. Without complaint, Gary's team uninstalled them and replaced them with lights that we could swivel to highlight our artwork on the wall. We appreciated the team's flexibility and good attitude about the change. Third, the most complex portion of the job was repairing a wall and floor that had been damaged with pet urine. Gary's team removed the damaged baseboard, cut away the damaged carpet and pad, repainted the wall, and installed a new baseboard. This left a hole in the carpet which we covered with a throw rug, which was the solution of our choice. The repairs to the wall are seamless -- you'd never know the work had been done. Gary didn't press us to replace the whole carpet, which we weren't ready to do because our beloved older pet was still with us. The solution worked -- the smell is gone, and we didn't spend more than we wanted to. We'll complete that remodel another day. Last but not least, Gary's team did a thorough job cleaning and repairing the gutters. Small sections of guttering had come loose, which they refastened to the roofline. The one part of the remodel that didn't go as I had hoped pertained to a roofing issue. We had a gap in the soffit panels under the eaves. We had been concerned that a squirrel could climb through the hole and nest under the roof. Gary's team assessed the roofline and said that the hole in the soffit didn't communicate through to the attic, as far as they could tell, so the squirrels couldn't use it as a gateway. Unfortunately, that conclusion turned out to be incorrect. Six months later, we had to pay a wildlife control company to get squirrels out of our attic. The animal control team determined that the entry point was the hole in the soffit and installed a sheet metal cover for it. While the squirrel removal and roof repair were expensive, I don't fault Gary's team for mis-diagnosing the issue. Two other contractors/handymen had previously looked at the same problem and reached the same conclusion as Gary did, so obviously it was tricky. (We had had squirrels under the roof in a previous home, so I was concerned about this issue.) We look forward to work with Gary Kimberlin Construction again on a future remodel."
