"Great service! They took care of everything in a clean and professional manner. They also made sure to not tear up the grass when removing a large tree and many stumps that required a stump grinder. I would recommend them to anyone who needs the help. Last but not least, the price for the work was good. They did not overcharge for the work."

"5 star service! I cannot say enough about how awesome J &D Forestry Services LLC was to work with on our home project! Jeremy reached out to me right away, came the very next day and did the job at the price he quoted. Both Jeremy and Matt were professional and hard working. They did the job efficiently and left the site flawless. If you need trees removed, bushes removed or clearing out—I would contact J&D!"

"Called on Monday and promised service Tuesday evening. Max and John showed up even earlier than originally scheduled and were out of here in a half hour; stumps ground and areas cleaned up. Since my previous tree service moved out of the area, Max, at L&M Tree Service, is my new go-to arborist. Highly recommend."

"We had two mature maple trees in our backyard close to our house that needed to come down. Randy gave us a great quote and Matt showed up with his team at 9am on a Saturday and did a fantastic job removing both trees in one day. They even removed the roots that had surfaced in the yard, and ground out the stumps. They were professional, friendly, and took the time to make sure the yard looked nice when finished. They even took a leaf blower to our patio. We would definitely hire them again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you should not use a pruning seal on trees after trimming. Applying a sealant can interfere with the tree's natural healing process, and it does not guarantee protection from pathogens. Instead of sealing the cut, the best practice is to support the tree's natural recovery by providing it with plenty of water and a dormant-style fertilizer. However, there are exceptions. Pruning seals may be recommended for very vulnerable species, like elm trees, in areas where dangerous diseases such as Dutch elm disease are prevalent. In these specific situations, the protection offered by a sealant can outweigh its downsides. For advice tailored to your situation, especially after cutting large branches, it is best to consult a local tree trimming professional.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

After a big storm, you may not be sure if a tree was struck or not. Look for the telltale long scars, like strips or gouges in the bark of the tree, running in sometimes jagged lines down the length of the trunk. These scars will often show vulnerable living wood inside the tree. It’s also common to see scorched or wilted leaves on the side or top of the tree where lightning struck.

The fastest ways to remove a tree stump are by grinding it or burning it.

Stump grinding is often the quickest method, with professionals able to chip away a stump and its roots within a single session. You have the option to hire a professional stump removal service or rent a stump grinder to do it yourself. However, it's important to note that these machines can be large, difficult to transport, and dangerous to operate without prior experience. For safety reasons, hiring a local arborist or landscape specialist is often recommended.

Burning is another fast option. Before you begin, check your local burn laws. The process involves drilling holes into the stump, filling them with vegetable oil, and waiting 24 to 48 hours. Afterward, you can add charcoal bricks to the surface and light the fire, which must be attended at all times.

For a more affordable but much slower alternative, you can use potassium nitrate pellets to accelerate the natural decomposition process. This method typically takes four to six months.

A palm tree's lifespan typically ranges from 40 to 100 years, though some species can live much longer. For example, certain types of Date Palm trees can live for over 200 years. The exact longevity of a palm tree is influenced by several factors, including its species, size, climate, and growing conditions. To maximize your palm's lifespan, provide proper care and maintenance, such as ensuring it gets enough sunlight, water, and nutrients, and protecting it from pests and diseases. For expert maintenance tips, consider consulting a professional arborist.
