"I had a great experience working with Mae and Malic from Elite Home Finish, LLC. They started with one contract to remove my old popcorn ceilings. They did such a fantastic job, I hired them to paint the entire interior of the house, and install new luxury vinal wood flooring. The completed project exceeded my
expectations.
I appreciated their professionalism and expertise throughout the process. They are reliable, honest, and outstanding contractors. I will hire Elite Home Finish, LLC again for any future needs. I am happy I had this opportunity to work with these good people."
"The price was great. My husband wanted to go with another contractor who had worked for us before. That person did not line up the tile correctly. Every day I look at the kitchen tile and wish we'd gone with Shawn. He was professional and asked the right questions that indicated to me he cared about doing a quality job. We'll go with him in the future."
Professionals ensure precise alignment and durability, critical for structural integrity.
You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.
There are approximately 5.33 board feet in a 2x4. You can use the board foot calculator in this article to easily find the answer. A 2x4 is 2 inches of thickness by 4 inches of width, so you need to find the length, with 8 feet being the most common. You’d use the calculator here to multiply 2 times 4 times 8, and then divide by 12, arriving at a total of 5.33 board feet.
Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.
Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.
