"Best home contractor service I have ever experienced. Their service was very affordable, completed on time, and fixed a dozen squeaks and a big dip in our floor in less than a day. Truly amazing. I wish all contractors were this dependable!"

"Daniel did an incredible job matching stains and restoring the beauty of the floors in the old home. He is very responsive to communication as well (text him rather than use the app - app has issues and delays no fault of Daniel’s). His work was masterful, affordable and I will be enjoying his expert work for years to come in my home. Thank you Daniel!"

"Matt and Hard Surface Floors LLC did an oustanding job installing laminate floors in our basement. Their price was less expensive than box-store installers and Matt was able to work around his schedule to get our job completed within a week of us contacting him. Matt is also very personable and goes the extra mile to get things done the way you want it."

"We had kitchen tile floor & bathroom tile floor demo and replaced. Entire plan including cost were discussed & agreed upon before project started. We had a few bids for this project & their price was comparable. They were very prompt at answering our questions & addressing concerns. Work was done in a timely fashion as stated in the contract & went 1 day over projected timeline. We are very pleased with the final result! The floors look fantastic! Quality work at a very fair price."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Poured-in-place terrazzo flooring is more durable than tile. In fact, it’s one of the most durable types of flooring on the market. It can last anywhere from 40 to 100 years, depending on maintenance. On average, you can expect your terrazzo floor to last about 75 years, but you will have to make repairs as needed.

There are several types of flooring options available for you to choose from. Each option has its durability factor to consider, as well as maintenance components. Some flooring options for you to choose from include:

  • Hardwood

  • Tile

  • Laminate

  • Linoleum

  • Carpeting

  • Stone

  • Cork

To clean a subfloor after removing carpet, start by removing any leftover debris, such as stuck-on underlay, nails, or staples. Next, thoroughly vacuum the subfloor to eliminate dust, dirt, and loose particles. If adhesive residue remains, you can use an adhesive remover, a scraper, or a sander to gently lift it off. Finally, clean the surface by mopping or wiping it down with a damp rag and allow it to dry completely. This preparation is essential for ensuring new flooring adheres properly and to prevent bumps or wrinkles from forming.

If your floor is still sticky after mopping, chances are you used too much or too little of the cleaning solution. Using too little won’t get all of the grime off, but using too much can leave its own residue. Refer to the cleaning solution’s instructions and dilute it as directed.

As with timing, the cost to remove tile flooring varies depending on a number of factors, including size and type, adhesive type, condition of the tile and adhesive, and the method used to remove it. If you’re doing it yourself, you can expect the job to cost only the price of any tools, materials, or equipment that you don’t already have. If you’re hiring a professional, expect to pay between $2 and $7 per square foot for labor costs, along with added fees for materials.
