Customers say: Quick response

"Not only did my floors turn out far beyond what I thought was possible, I'm pretty sure, he's a floor artist. I received 4 estimates. I didn't go with the cheapest quote, I went with the one that was only slightly higher because my gut told me he was the guy that would do the best job. My gut was 100% correct. I can't even tell you how happy I am with the outcome. There is no other option of who to hire if you want your floors to look beautiful again. I'm really happy and would give 10 stars if I could."

"Larry sent Dale to restretch some carpet in my daughter's room. They were able to come out the very next day so it could be done before steam cleaning. The price Larry quoted was honored and it was 1/3 the price quoted by other companies ( who we thought were overpriced). They didn't mind such a small job, did the work in a timely manner and were very courteous. Very pleased and plan to call them when I need another bedroom stretched as well ( that room had all the furniture in it and couldn't be emptied)."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

In St Louis, the combination of humid summers and cold winters causes hardwood and laminate flooring to expand and contract, making acclimation especially important—plan for at least a week before installation. Basements are prone to moisture due to spring rains, so using a vapor barrier is essential. Scheduling flooring installation during spring or fall helps minimize issues like warping, buckling, or gaps in your new floors.

Helpful?

Upgrading flooring in St Louis can significantly enhance your home’s resale value and appeal to buyers. Hardwood floors or modern luxury vinyl in living areas are especially attractive. Replacing worn carpet, refinishing existing hardwood, or installing waterproof flooring in basements can make your home stand out in the market, offering a fresh, updated look that buyers in MO often seek.

Helpful?

Flooring projects in St Louis can be complicated by uneven subfloors in historic homes, moisture from the region’s clay soil, and intricate trim or molding details. Homes with multiple levels or finished basements may need specialized moisture barriers. Properties near the Mississippi River often require extra waterproofing, and seasonal humidity changes mean careful planning for material expansion and contraction is essential.

Helpful?

Before starting a flooring project in St Louis, inspect your subfloor for moisture and structural issues, especially in basements or older homes. Schedule any needed repairs for cracks or uneven surfaces. Order flooring materials in advance to allow for acclimation. Confirm if permits are required for your project, and communicate with your HOA to ensure your flooring choice and installation process meet local guidelines.

Helpful?

Many St Louis homeowners skip proper acclimation of flooring materials, leading to warping from humidity changes. Failing to inspect or repair subfloors, especially in older homes, is another frequent mistake. Neglecting to install moisture barriers in basements or choosing the wrong materials for damp areas can cause long-term issues. Overlooking the home’s architectural style or not thoroughly vetting contractors also creates problems.
