"These guys are absolutely awesome! We had a cracked heat exchanger and it was dangerous to continue heating because of carbon monoxide leaking. The original duct work was all done incorrectly and caused the furnace (and A/C} to overwork. We had their representative, Danny come to our house one afternoon to give us a bid for heating, duct replacement, and air conditioning. Well, by the next morning we had we had a whole team of guys here and ready to start work on the job. I still don't know how they managed to pull it all together so fast! They had the new furnace, duct work and air conditioner all here and ready to be installed! These guys were all awesome. They worked so hard, and they went the extra mile to make sure we were happy with what they were doing. We would DEFINITELY recommend using Total Comfort and their great team! Thanks Adam C., Adam P., Dylan, Joe, and Tad!"

D & T Appliance was founded in January 2002 . We started our company with the intentions of providing a professional service experience to the customer; this “professional service” starts with the individual who takes the original incoming call from the customer, answering the call promptly, setting up the service call in a timely manner and then servicing the product when we said we would be there. It seems that this type of service experience was missing from our marketplace as we have since grown to 25 employees. Our company is also the only Nationally Certified Service Center in Minnesota. We specialize in the premium appliances as well as standard appliances. We strive to make sure that every customer is happy and that they want to tell their friends and family about our services.

"came quickly and were very friendly and professional just unable to help me repair anything."

We serve Minneapolis & St Paul as well as the surrounding suburbs. We manage Pronto from a local office & we are committed to providing friendly, hassle-free service and employing only the best technicians. You may recognize us from another local air conditioning company. The Sedgwick family sold its business in 1999 to a national manufacturer and Wade and Greg stayed on to run the business from 1999 through March 2008. We opened Pronto because we felt we could provide a personalized experience and exceptional customer service by managing our entire business from a local office. We are committed to providing friendly, hassle-free service and employing only the best technicians. Pronto is proud to have won the Bryant 2009 Dealer of the Year award. The award is given each year to Bryant’s best dealer out of more than 4,000 dealers in North America.

"Great, Travis and Teagan were very informative and honest about the state of our system and laid out our options clearly."

"We had a great experience with Omega Force and their technician, Nate, for our refrigerator repair. Nate went above and beyond to troubleshoot the issue and explore cost-saving options for us. Ultimately, we needed an expensive part, but the team made the process smooth and stress-free. They quickly ordered the part, repaired the refrigerator."

He asked about and listened carefully to me about how everything has been working (Standard installed our boiler and maintains it also). As usual, the technician completed his work efficiently and professionally. He explained everything before leaving and left the work areas neat. Standard is so reliable we joined its maintenance program years ago and will continue to call Standard for all our heating and air conditioning needs."

Since 1883 McQuillan Home Services has been Minnesota’s Original plumbing, heating, and cooling company. At McQuillan we’ve always remained true to our mission of providing solid, honest work to all our customers. Join the McQuillan Home Services family as we continue to raise the bar and provide generations of happy customers with quality plumbing, heating, AC, electrical, and drains service.

"Last fall as I prepared to deploy to the Middle East with the Minnesota National Guard, we decided to replace our boiler, so my wife wouldn’t have any added stress while I was gone. The opposite has occurred. After I left, the boiler and hot water system was installed in. That went fine though they left a big hole in the floor when they removed the old boiler. Shortly after the new boiler began having problems losing pressure and my wife smelled gas. When the pressure drops below a certain level the furnace shuts off, so the house gets cold and there is no hot water. McQuillan came out and looked at the system, determined that the expansion tank had failed and replaced it. They said the gas smell was just old pipes. Things worked for a bit, but then started losing pressure and shutting off again. McQuillan came out, added water and the system came back on. A week or so later, no pressure, no heat or hot water. McQuillan comes out and determines the expansion tank had failed again. It gets replaced, water added, the system is back on. They showed my wife how to add water to keep the pressure up In asking what was causing the problem, McQuillan kept telling us that its an old house, and you have leaky radiators. We looked. A couple of radiators had a little rust line from the valves, but no water and the pipes were dry when our carpenter touched them with a Kleenex to check for leaks or moisture. Through out the winter, this keeps happening with my wife having to regularly go down in the basement to add water. She keeps looking for any sign of water leaks around all the radiators and heating pipes. It is frustrating and stressful. In early March, after being gone for the weekend, she came home and the boiler was out and the house near freezing. McQuillan put in an automatic fill valve to add water whenever the pressure dropped. Still insisting that the pressure loss had to be leaky radiator valves. When I heard about this from my wife I asked if they had done a pressure test on the system to try to determine where the leak was occurring. McQuillan said no, that isn’t standard procedure. (Other boiler installers said it is the standard). We hadn’t been able to find any water leaks from any of the radiators or pipes we could see, so I didn’t want to keep pumping water in afraid that the leak might be hidden somewhere. So I had my wife turn it off unless she was going to be gone for more than a day. The pressure loss keeps happening. Also the gas smell is still there, so my wife called the gas company to come out and check. They found not one but two leaks in the gas connection creating a danger significant enough that the gas company immediately turned off our gas in the middle of the winter. At this point McQuillan had been out to the house 6-8 time and things were still not right. We tell them the systems isn’t working and they need to start over. McQuillan goes through the system again and fixes the gas leak. They determined that the expansion tank was actually too small for our system and replaced it with a bigger one. Soon again no pressure. Not being able to find any leaks throughout the house, but unable to account for the pressure loss, we start to consider replacing the valves that showed a little rust. But I wasn’t convinced that was the problem as we weren’t seeing any water. We continued to push to have them reinstall the system. After the tenth+ visit to the house, McQuillan arranged to have the local rep from the boiler manufacturer come out to look at the system. During this they finally decide to do a pressure test. When the boiler was isolated and a pressure test was done, it was discovered that there was a crack inside the boiler. This took no more than 45 minutes. The water leaking to create the pressure drop was running from the crack inside the boiler through the condensation hose to the laundry sink—which is why there was never any water on the floor. So at this point they replace the system and four radiator valves that showed some rust. We will see how this winter goes. Regardless of whether or not it is your standard protocol to pressure test at the time you install a boiler, about the second time you were called out because of a loss of pressure it would have been the prudent thing to do to determine what the actual problem was. Certainly it should have been done before installing the auto-fill device, which only masked the problem by adding more water whenever enough had leaked out somewhere. If there had been a hidden leak in the piping, all that continuous leaking could have led to significant damage. While they didn’t charge us to replace four radiator valves, because they didn’t pressure test the systems, we don’t know if the valves actually needed replacing. The value of replacing something that may or may not of needed replacing is speculative at best.  As a result of all this, my wife had to miss multiple days of work dealing with all these issues that we should never have had to deal with, and were exactly what we were trying to avoid with having McQuillian install a new boiler. Instead, a complete nightmare at a time when my family was under intense stress already. We still have a hole in the floor."

Humidifier repair services FAQs

If your refrigerator needs to be repaired, contact an appliance repair company to diagnose the issue and repair your refrigerator. It’s okay to leave it plugged in and running, but unplug it if it makes unusual noises.

Signs that your refrigerator may need repairs include:

  • Food items are not being held at the correct temperature (between 35 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit)

  • The fridge is using too much energy and seems to run all the time

  • Loud and/or unusual noises

Possible causes include:

  • A damaged door

  • Faulty condenser coil

  • Malfunctioning control board

Contacting an appliance repair professional as soon as possible can help save items in your fridge from spoiling. Common fridge repairs include the compressor, control board, thermostat, defrost motor, coils, and ice maker.

The average cost to hire an HVAC contractor is between $50 and $150 per hour if charging hourly. However, some HVAC contractors will charge a flat fee by the type of service they are performing—for example, an inspection can cost between $150 to $500. Keep in mind that emergency repairs—which are made after business hours or around major holidays—generally cost more than scheduled repairs.

Yes, most states require HVAC technicians to be certified, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed HVAC technician could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

The average cost to repair an appliance depends on the appliance, make, model, the part that needs repair, and how long it takes to replace or repair a part. The following are the average repair costs for the most common appliances:

  • Refrigerator: $200–$300

  • Freezer: $90–$500

  • Oven, cooktop, range: $100–$500

  • Microwave: $50–$400

  • Dishwasher: $160–$300

  • Garbage disposal: $70–$250

  • Washing machine: $50–$450

  • Dryer: $100–$400

Appliance repair contractors may charge $40 to $120 per hour for labor, and most also provide the replacement parts necessary at an additional cost.  It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays and emergency fees may apply if you need your appliance fixed immediately.

The average cost of HVAC repairs is around $350. However, that price can be as low as $100 or as high as $2,000 or more, depending on the repair. For example, replacing a capacitor is a relatively inexpensive repair, ranging from $100 to $500. However, a compressor repair is a more expensive repair, ranging from $750 to $2,000.
