"They quickly fixed plugged drain, and then went over my list giving pricing and recommendations for each item. We agreed on fixing the toilet which was again quickly and professionally done. I was very satisfied with their punctuality, professionalism and courtesy, transparency and quick completion of the projects. Would absolutely use the again and refer them to others."

"

McDonough's Services returned my call the same day I called them, and scheduled cleaning the pipe(s) the following day. I received another call the next day confirming someone would be out, and the technician called shortly after that to let me know he would be arriving within an hour, which he did. Chad was personable, and started the job right away.  He cleaned the pipes--to make sure they were clear--but he thought the major problem was the old cap he found lodged inside the pipe; this lodged cap prevented the water from draining properly and so the water backed up from our drain into our laundry room.  Chad said the cap was difficult to get out.  We are very grateful he found it as our laundry room flooding situation has been going on for a long time.  We were very pleased with McDonough?s Services, and would definitely hire them again.

"I had a wet basement that had been a problem in my home for years before purchase of my home. The placement of a Sump pump and floor drain tile appears to stop wet foundation walls and floor. The basement now has potential to be nice area of use and living for years ahead. The service is a expensive purchase for homeowner but it is a needed purchase for my home. The finishing job leaves the need with more work if your basement floor was rough from the years of water damage. They did stop any future water damage for my home and it is safe to spend more for more fine finishing. They completed what was contracted."

"I had roots in the drain pipe along with a crack in the pipe under my deck. First visit they cleared the pipe of roots and the second visit installed a sleeve through the pipe to prevent future problems. Both visits were very professional and when they were done they provided a camera view. This allowed me to see their finish product."

"Paul came out and was great in providing an estimate based on our needs and suggesting other improvements that he did at little or no extra cost. The problem we brought him in for was water seepage in the basement so the area in the back of the house needed to be graded. He understood our issue and re-graded around the entire house to be sure to correct any other problems. He also redesigned the back area and improved the overall look of the area. Paul and his crew were very professional and cleaned up everything when they were done. Paul also told us that if we came up with a design for the back landscape he'd do as we wished. We did have a drawing that he followed and improved upon. Great company!"

French Drains questions, answered by experts

To keep your toilet from clogging, you can use less toilet paper. You can also use a liquid toilet plunger to break up any clogs and keep the toilet drain and pipes clear. When it comes to a clogged toilet, the best route is prevention by using less toilet paper and making sure the mechanisms are all working properly.

The cost varies from $150 to $600, depending on the severity of the clog, pipe access, and required equipment.

Bleach is generally not recommended for your shower drains. Although diluted bleach can technically help clean your drain, it will not unclog your pipes. In fact, bleach can harm your plumbing system because it’s so powerful. The bleach can change the color of your sink and even corrode metal pipes and fittings.

Often, people reach for bleach because it's already in their house. But it's worth getting a plunger or a drain snake for the job instead. It'll be a lot less money to buy a new plunger than to pay a plumber to repair or replace damaged pipes.

Yes, you can use hydrogen peroxide to unclog a drain. Instead of using a baking soda and vinegar solution, you can use baking soda with hydrogen peroxide. The process to unclog a drain is the same as with vinegar, but use 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide instead.

Air gaps get clogged by a few different means. Over time, food and grime can collect in the air gap, leading to a blockage. Mineral deposits from hard water are a common problem. Mineral buildup creates a film in the air gap and tubing, which can cause flow issues, as well as attract debris. Homeowners with hard water may want to remove mineral deposits regularly to keep the air gap clean and clear.
