"We've hired Vlad twice over the course of past year -- first for a remodel of our childrens' bathroom and then for a remodel of our master bathroom. I couldn't recommend him highly enough! From initial meetings to design the job to the execution of it, he did an excellent job. His philosophy is that it is his job to ensure that the customer is completely satisfied, and he went above and beyond with both of our remodeling jobs."

"Professional, high quality product, customer service was excellent every step of the way. Replaced windows, installed a patio door. After getting a few quotes from other companies went with Mad City for the bathroom remodel too! Worth the money, definitely recommend!"

Customers say: True professional

"The work was well planned and completed on time. Ariel is a professional contractor with a lot of experience and great at communicating. The mason on my retaining wall was an expert and meticulous. I have recommended Lifetime Construction to my friends and family."

"The glass display shelves that were hung look great. We also had wood shelves cut and wood supports installed in a bathroom linen closet. My only complaint is some of the staples/nails are exposed in a visible spot."

"Cory and his team did an amazing job with our custom project. He created an original design of cabinets, bookcases and integrated mantle to form a form a surround in a new space with a built In fireplace. From start to finish he was a professional with drawings, estimate, in person appointments when promised and incredible detailed installation. And of course the finished product was the premiere quality he promised. We couldn’t be more happy with the result."

Closets questions, answered by experts

When you are securing your DIY home office built-ins to the wall, you should start by locating the wall studs. You'll then want to use long screws to attach the cabinets, shelves, and bookcases directly to the wall studs. Your built-ins will be far too heavy to attach to the drywall alone by using anchors.

A "reach-in pantry" is a smaller, cabinet-style pantry that allows you to grab items by simply reaching inside. On the other hand, a "walk-in pantry" is like a closet or small room that offers a larger space that you can physically enter to get your food. Walk-in pantries allow for more customizable shelving. A reach-in pantry is usually around 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep, while a walk-in pantry is closer to 5 feet by 5 feet or larger.

The vertical space between closet shelves depends on what you're storing. For clothing like shirts and sweaters, 10 to 12 inches is enough. Towels and linens need 12 to 15 inches, while tall storage bins may require 18 inches or more. Overcrowding your shelves can reduce accessibility and increase clutter, so be sure to leave breathing room for your items.

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.

Clean regularly, avoid overloading shelves, and check hardware for wear to ensure longevity.
