The bottom line on my business card reads: "specializing in unique and creative projects". This was definitely one of them. We did have to use ingenuity, patience, and flexibility to get the fine end-product that these clients wanted (and we wanted to provide for them). I also want to extend the same compliment to these clients, as they needed these three traits to help us address the issues and get their garage to the point it is as well. We make a good team! Thank you for pointing out these traits as well as the 'typical' five categories and more common traits. I appreciate this review!Service Provider Response
Thank you for the glowing compliments and high marks in this review. Thank you for mentioning my estimating process and appreciating it. Estimating time and costs is one of the hardest parts of this work, and I am historically rather accurate at it, as this client points out. Thanks again for the review!Service Provider Response
This client first called us to finish a deck remodel that a different contractor had started (namely, put on the handrails). After that, she asked us to finish insulating, drywall, and put up peg-boards in the garage. Our third project for her was to resurface her basement areas w/ vinyl planking and then trim it out; we also hung a barn-door. Our final project included putting on new treads and risers for the entry way steps (up and down of a split-entry house). Somewhere in there, we also moved a large desk. We have two more small projects 'on the books' for this winter and next spring. We do take care in our work and care for our clients/their properties. We strive to offer high-quality work and do so w/ integrity and communication. Thank you for recognizing and complimenting us on this. I am glad that we keep getting called back and that this client has also recommended us to her neighbor. Thank you for posting this positive review.Service Provider Response
We have done a wide variety of things for this client, and she has kept calling us back and recommending us to family and her own clients. For this connection and the work that it provides, we are very grateful. This client is also very knowledgeable about houses, codes, construction processes, and much more - making her a valuable resource for me as well. Thank you for this very positive review and for continuing to have us work for you.Service Provider Response
On the list of things that we have done for these clients, I think the main thing that is missing is the deck sanding and staining (and we repaired an upper deck before doing the rest). We also replaced a retaining wall, but - as I get older - I am less interested in doing that large of a heavy project :-). The last project we did for them was the lower retaining wall, planter, and paver patio. The homeowner was out of town when we did these, so I sent them pictures of the progress...they couldn't wait to get home to see it in person! I appreciate working for these clients and am glad they appreciate us working for them. Thanks for the review, especially posting that we bring these qualities each and every time we come!Service Provider Response
I believe this review is posted by a friend of the Angi member for whom I have worked after the member recommended me and Scott to them. One of the great things about Angi is the networking that happens...that is also a great thing about most of my clients as they recommend me to their friends, neighbors, and family members. I do little advertising (just the minimum here); I used to hand out flyers, but have not needed to do that lately either, as we are able to stay busy with work ahead of us. I like the old phrase: "If you don't like what we do, tell us. If you like what we do, tell others." Fortunately, we have very few who tell us something they don't like and many who tell others what they do! In addition to the items mentioned by this client, we have reset a paver patio, built a new mailbox stand/roof, put in a shower door, swapped out some sink faucets, and painted the interior of their garage. Thank you for posting this review.Service Provider Response
We pride ourselves on our communication in addition to the quality of our work. We work by the hour, but give estimates for time and material ahead of time - and are historically rather accurate. This review highlights that...thank you. We have installed new flooring throughout the common areas of this house, refinished two decks, and painted the exterior of the house and garage for this client. All three projects were multiple day jobs (3.5 for the floor, 2.5 for the decks, and 9 for the ext painting); the first two came in under the estimates and the last was just over. Of course, we kept the homeowner up-to-date on the progress of each. I'm so glad that they are pleased not only with the cost and communication, but [Member Information Removed]/ the end-product as well. Thank you for offering this review.Service Provider Response
We have worked for these clients at the previous house they owned as well as their current one (and looked at a third one when they were considering purchasing it before the one they chose in the end). Sounds like they may be looking to move again - so I will get to work on another one :-). As such, we have done a variety of projects for them. They like things in their house to be a particular way, and we can meet that desire of theirs. I am also willing to state when I can't do what they would like, so they are able to find a different contractor who can. I am glad that they find our services satisfactory and posted this very positive review. Thank you! Look forward to working for you again!Service Provider Response
Besides cleaning gutters for these clients annually, we have installed a roof-heating cable system, drawer pull-outs, and a tile floor in their entry/kitchen/dining room. We also brushed-out a corner of their lot and installed sod. Each time, we are grateful for the work and to work for them. They appear to be grateful for our services, too...thank you for this review!Service Provider Response
Thank you for including pictures of the garage in your review. The garage turned out great and definitely meets your needs. These clients worked on analyzing their garage needs, finding the appropriate design/kit, and - working with me - made the adaptations necessary for their particular application (lot lines, variances, product swap-out, etc). Since I am currently not a licensed general contractor (working on that!), they pulled the permit and worked w/ the City inspectors...I was their subcontractor while they were the general contractor as the home-owner. They also coordinated the site prep and concrete as well as the electrician/power company folks. They did this admirably, too! They also worked w/ my son and me on the job itself...they sorted, hauled, cut, helped hold, nail, seal (caulk) and paint throughout the project. The homeowner even got to learn how to run some new power tools! I enjoy empowering and educating homeowners - both in general and with the specific goal of lessening costs. Doing this almost always works out marvelously...as it did in this case (the garage). In the past, the homeowners also helped w/ the exterior painting of their house and did the staining of their deck themselves. I have also 'guided' them in some landscaping/grading issues around their house and other various maintenance projects over the years. Thank you for posting this review and allowing these specific aspects of my services to be noted.Service Provider Response
This particular project for these clients (we have done much for them over the last five years or so...you can see other reviews from this owner on other things we have done) was worked on during the first full winter of the COVID pandemic (2021)...before vaccinations were available but while we no longer could just 'wait' for things to blow over. They haven't blown over completely yet, but at least we have vaccinations and learned more about how to work around the virus. At the time, they and we decided that the best course of action was for their household (homeowners, adult child, and three cats) to move out. This kept both their family and my family safe from accidental viral transmissions. It also allowed us to truly 'tear into' the project, which included plaster and drywall repair throughout the house. We simply moved and covered furniture after they boxed and stored personal items. Then we worked throughout the house, making the messes, cleaning them up, and painting w/o interference of folks 'living' in the space. We accommodate a family's or individual's presence while working at their house, adjusting to their schedule and particular needs. We do this w/o an issue...YET, having them accommodate us in this 'severe' manner was sure appreciated. Doing so also saved them money b/c it took us less time working in this way. We were able to do this 'whole-house-makeover' in a couple of weeks, which was a nice, interior, winter project. As the homeowner stated: it went well and turned out well. The plaster cracks have yet to reappear, too! Thank you for posting this review! We love working for you!Service Provider Response
We have been able to work on both this client'[Member Information Removed] house and rental property over the last three years...he keeps calling us back! The storm window was a special project as it required repairing and painting of his 100 year old storm windows. They had been worked on previously, including having the lead-based paint removed (so we were able to do the work...we can't work on wood that has lead-based paint on it since we are not certified by the State to do such work). We rebuilt some of the sides, patched other places, replaced some panes, re-glazed as necessary, trimmed for easier installation if necessary, primed and painted, and washed the windows. I'm very glad that the client was as pleased w/ the outcome as he was on the windows and the other projects we have done for him. Thank you for posting this review.Service Provider Response
I believe that not too often are the traits on a job-site much different than the person who possesses them...nonetheless, I am thankful that this client finds me to be such a great person. Thank you!! We have done much to this family's 'forever home' over the ten years or so since they bought it. We were able to do much to ready the house for their move-in. Since then, we have done other updates, rearrangements, and maintenance, as well as advised this very handy homeowner on some projects that he wanted to tackle himself. I love going to this home and working for these people. Thank you for continuing to call on me to provide my services. Thank you for posting this wonderful review.Service Provider Response
As this client has noted, we have done a variety of jobs for them over the years. This ground-level deck and walkway allow them an additional 'room' to their house which they use frequently for eating and entertaining, meditating and reading (it is in a peaceful backyard that has a nice blend of mottled sunshine and shade). What I appreciate in this review is that it demonstrates how consistent we are in providing quality services with integrity, communication, professionalism, personality, and efficiencies. We aren't hit-and-miss! Thank you for posting this review.Service Provider Response
This is an awesome review - thank you for posting it. I am glad that I was able to meet your needs on a variety of projects (we also installed a garbage disposal for him) in such a praise-worthy way. Communication is one of my priorities, so I am glad that you appreciate it. I look forward to being able to do some more work for you in the future (we have talked about a flooring project).Service Provider Response
WOW! That is a glowing review :-). Thanks for posting it. We had the opportunity to finish some trim work in this client's entry, kitchen, dining room, and living room. We also painted that which we installed, what they had initially installed, and some other window/door and accessory trim. We discussed a few things that the clients could do themselves (teaching them some things, debating about tools to use, and finding the best way to accommodate the unusual situations); the main thing was about adding a 'floating' shelf to their tiled, kitchen wall. We also discussed some future projects, one of which is on the docket for this winter and two or three others for down the road. I look forward to working for these clients again.Service Provider Response
The space really did turn out wonderful! Thank you for sharing the pictures, too. Working with these clients was a joy...and we had a lot to work on together (they did the painting after we prepped for it, appliance and fixture planning/deciding/purchasing, floor-plan decisions, and final touches like hooks and shelving). I am SO thankful that you appreciate the space so much and that you posted this review.Service Provider Response
These clients are one of my 'regulars'...not only in calling me back for a variety of projects over the years (as stated), including a paver front walk-way, storm door installation, new bathroom sink, drywall repair, interior door and trim install, roof vent pipe extending, gutter protectors, and exterior siding staining among other things), but also in that I come each fall to clean leaves/sticks off and check on the protectors. I enjoy seeing them yearly and - presumably - they enjoy seeing me yearly as well. Thank you for highlighting my 'soft skills' in this review.Service Provider Response
Thanks for posting this review. I truly do consider my services to be a 'service'...I am serving you as people who have needs for your house which I can help meet. I work on establishing a relationship in which I work for you (hence the name of the business). I take pride in my work and in having a healthy, holistic approach to my work - which is more than just a job. Over the last number of years, I have been able to help these folks out w/ their window sills/frames (refinishing), a roof flashing issue, replacing their deck boards and railing (and staining), installing a screen-porch, moving some heavy exercise equipment around, among other things. I appreciate them, their stories, and being able to help them w/ their maintenance needs.Service Provider Response
This was a unique project... The split-level house had its main entry a half-story up, accessed by a smallish, wooden stairway and stoop. The front door was in the middle of the front of the house, but away from the stairs that connected that main level on which it entered to the levels above or below that main level. Simply put: it was goofy. So, we wanted to put the entry door near the stairs (left side of the front of the house), which meant reconfiguring the steps as well as swapping the door w/ the large, picture window. The steps were further complicated by the tree, as the client has mentioned. Together we were able to find a design that met all the needs and made the flow into and within the house SO much better, gave them an outdoor space that they use regularly (a 10x18 deck) that allows easier access to the driveway and the yard, and looks so much better ascetically. The process was complicated, and we are thankful that we were able to 'smooth it out' as much as we were. I very much appreciate the great kudos that are written in this review...thank you!! We really do strive to have all our jobs - large or small - result in such positive feelings and results.Service Provider Response
I'm so glad you are pleased with the work. Thanks for posting this review.Service Provider Response
I think we have worked for this client for nearly 10 years. In that time, we have attended to numerous small jobs...I am not sure if any save repairing the siding on a shed ever were a full-day. I am totally OK doing small jobs...sometimes as short as 15 minutes even. Most of the times, we are there for an hour to four. We have fixed the apron to the garage, the seal on the bottom of the garage door, the seal and locks on the access doors to the garage, and the garage door opener. We have done a few different small landscaping projects (moving some perennials, addressing groundhog holes/digging under the porch, bird feeder repair, tree alignment/staking). We have also assembled a desk. On her yard shed, we have fixed the doors, repaired the siding, replaced the facia, and cleaned the roof. Finally, we have patched her chimney, applied heat-cables, and cleaned the roof to her house. I appreciate this client and the ability to work for her. Thank you for posting this review.Service Provider Response
We appreciate working for this client and that they have posted such glowing reviews. This particular project described was a very unique one. We like such projects (and actually specialize in them) as they give us the opportunity to apply our previous knowledge and skills in new ways while we analyze a situation, determine the best course of action, and then put it into place. Yes, sometimes, we have to change course mid-way as we discover new things, but that is part of the process sometimes. When done, having figured out the 'problem' and the 'solution', and the solution works well and looks even better, we are so satisfied. As are the clients. As in this case. Thanks so much for posting this review, as it gives another aspect of our work to future clients.Service Provider Response
Yes, we have done a wide variety of projects for this client and her parents...one of our 'traits' is that a client can call one company (us) for a range of needs...they do not have to find and 'learn' a large number of servicers. True, sometimes, our prices are bit more than what 'average' might be for a particular service while other times we are less expensive than 'average' (we keep the same hourly rate for all of our work). One can see looking at the other reviews, most of our clients are very accepting of our rates (and some say they are getting much more for the cost). Regardless of the loss of a star on our rate, one can see this client is very happy w/ our services and gladly hires us over and over. Then, we try to accommodate the need as soon as we can (no matter what, I respond within 24 hrs to every contact). Thank you for posting this review and allowing me to address the 'concerns'.Service Provider Response
For this client, we have also installed a drop ceiling in and painted their basement, added insulation in their attic, helped make closet doors operate more smoothly, swapped out a faucet, repaired and painted some exterior and interior trim, did some weather sealing, and performed the partial bathroom remodel described above. We have also helped make their house more 'accessible' w/ grab-bars and safety features. I'm thankful that they have mentioned integrity and communication...they are the two aspects of my work which I value the most. The quality work that we provide is actually the third highest priority. Of course, I aim for high-quality as well. Thank you for taking the time to post this review.ASK FOR DETAILS
