"I have had a string of not-so-pleasant home improvement experiences recently and I am so glad that All Good Egress was there to turn the dial. They were amazing to work with. Very cautious and responsive to our needs and even won over my hard-to-please (and a bit crabby) mother. She gave them donuts (HUGE compliment from her). :) I also was continuously impressed with their communication and attention to detail with the project. They could have easily went one way with the project but went another way (which was a bit more laborious) because it would look better. I cannot say enough good things about this company!!!"

"After a couple of weather related false starts, the roof was expertly replaced. Everyone at Zups was very professional in their approach, communication and follow-through. The crew was very careful around my new gutters, and willingly accommodated my rather unusual request. I am very satisfied."

"Our old house has suffered through several additions and consequently walls and floors are not level or plumb. The Rossbach team did an outstanding job of understanding what we wanted and the quality of their work is second to none! They also had no problem letting us do some of the work, like the demo and the wall finishing. We would definitely use them again!"

Egress Windows FAQs, answered by experts

There are a few ways to save money on egress window installation. First, choosing pre-fabricated windows instead of custom windows can help dramatically reduce the overall cost. In addition, skipping window extras, like customized frames or window film, can help save money on the price tag without sacrificing the window itself. You should also shop around to multiple window installers to find the best installation deal without sacrificing the quality of the window.

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.

Egress windows require regular maintenance to ensure they function correctly. This includes cleaning the glass, inspecting the frame and well for debris, and making sure the cover or well drains properly. It is also important to check that the window sills and wells are watertight and to inspect and repair any damage to the window frame or seals to prevent leaks and maintain functionality.
