"My experience with Performance Floor Coverings was excellent from the first contact to the completion of the work. I needed my 6 year-old carpeting stretched out. It had developed ripples and bulges that were unsightly and potentially dangerous to elderly walkers. Rob and Joe came on a Friday, gave me a very fair estimate and returned the next Tuesday to do the work. They were right on time! They treated my home with care and treated me with respect and humor. The bill was the same as his estimate and the carpet looks terrific. They even cleaned up after their work and vacuumed as well - with their own vacuum. I highly recommend this company for any and all things flooring related."

Customers say: Super punctual

"JB did excellent work refinishing hardwood floors in our 1913 home. We hired them in the past were also pleased with the quality of work and cost. The owner was responsive and scheduled a consult with us soon after we called. He provided detailed information on options, costs, and materials and was motivated to address concerns. We chose a water based product for environmental and health/safety reasons and asked to have a finish that would be less slippery and were pleased with the result. The team was experienced, professional, and timely in arriving for work and finishing the project. We were given information on how to best care for the floors and a floor cleaning product and furniture pads to keep the floors in top shape. We are looking forward to another floor project next year and will happily hire JB again."

The new flooring looks amazing and made a big difference in our home. We had them install a product from Home Depot."

"Josh is a very hard worker. He got the job done on time and he had to be very creative with my floor since it was engineered hardwood and had already been sanded once before. He didn’t get the floor as light as we wanted, but that was due to the floor not due to his work and in the end his work turned out to look amazing."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Most projects take 1-3 days, depending on space size and complexity.

Carpet tiles come with a preexisting adhesive backing, which means installing them is as simple as peeling off the paper and sticking them down where they need to go. In other words, no. You won’t need to purchase any separate glue to get your carpet squares situated. It’s already built into the carpet tile itself.

It’s possible to reuse household materials to cover floors, but they won’t provide the same level of protection as dedicated materials. They’re also more difficult to tape down and more prone to slipping and bunching up—and any dirt or debris on them could scratch or stain your floors. That being said, extra materials like these can be useful for protecting the sides of furniture and placing in areas that could use added protection.

Porcelain and ceramic tile are two of the longest-lasting kitchen flooring materials. However, while these materials can withstand a good amount of daily wear and tear, they’re likely to crack if you drop something heavy on them, and they’re pricier than many other options. On average, installing a ceramic tile kitchen floor costs between $1,240 and $11,250. Other durable kitchen flooring options include natural stone and concrete.

You may be wondering, how long does carpet last? It depends on the type. For your Berber carpet, it should last 10 to 15 years with regular cleaning and maintenance. For the longest lifespan possible, you should call in a carpet cleaner for a deep cleaning at least once a year.

Also, you can opt for higher-quality Berber carpet and underlayment which will last longer. And if you have pets, make sure to house-train them and use extra rugs in areas you expect high foot traffic.
