We are a locally owned and family operated home improvement company serving the Twin Cities area since 2004. Our services include: siding, roofing, and window replacement, decks, entry and patio doors, attic insulation, additions, and interior remodeling, Financing is available.

"Issues with new window leak after they replaced siding. Took over a year from my initial notification of the new leak for them to remove siding and investigate problem. They said old leak and exterior wall damaged from leak. Not sure how their crew hung the house siding if the wall was wet like they said. They said they would give us a bid to repair and no follow up for 2 months. Left a piece of siding off my house that whole time. Do not recommend."

Full service roofing company, family owned and locally operated for over 94 years. We Supervise our Sub-contractors. We're fully insured and bonded in good standing with the BBB. Quality, experienced workmanship on Roofing, Siding, Gutters, Windows - all exteriors. Locations in both Minneapolis and St. Paul.

"Big tip #1 - if needing storm damage repair, Brigley was the only contractor that gave an independent quote, out of 6 contacted. All others would only deal directly with Insurance and not quote the job to me at all. You too may find the settlement offered by insurance exceeds the actual cost of the job - and others get to pocket the difference. Brigley is very fair and direct, and NOT a "storm chaser", never to be heard from again. Cory, our estimator, carried out a full inspection for hail damage. He noted additional house repairs that could be done, and included as separate optional line items. Quick turn around on the quote process. Full tear off replacement was done in one very long day for the crew, who did outstanding work. They corrected, without charge, some deficiencies that a prior gutter contractor had not done. Some small additional gutter work was done soon thereafter. Several of the crew, while acknowledging the job was very hard work, spoke highly of working for Brigley and would not work for any other roofer. Nice to see that the estimator (Cory) was on site helping for several hours - so he knows what the job entails. Even the city inspector noted that Brigley was a known good choice. No money up front, and no pressure for full payment - they made sure I was fully satisfied, before picking up the check (at my offer to pay!) a week later. I've dealt with many contractors for projects in the past (professionally and personally), and Brigley has by far been the best."

5 EMPLOYEES. USES SUBS FOR ELECTRIC AND PLUMBING. CHARGES AN HOURLY RATE OR BY ESTIMATE. NO TRAVEL CHARGES.

"Hired for a new bathroom install. Originally, I was quoted 27 - 30 thousand to complete the whole project. I was able to complete some of tasks myself drywall, mudding, flooring, to be exact, so I got a new quote, which after agreeing that I was completing the listed tasks was 18.5 thousand. The project started well, and things were progressing quickly, but they had "budget over runs." When I questioned what the setbacks were, I was ignored. Chris Johnson, who I believe to be the owner, stopped responding to emails. Josh Kramer, the project manager, has no answers except to contact Chris. Currently I have paid 23 thousand and I have a quote to complete the project for another 4 thousand. I did ask for additional services to be provided IE installing a water heater, that I had purchased, as well as fixing 2 sinks that started leaking. I acknowledged that these services were provided outside of the quote but at a final cost not including the purchases that I made of $27,000 they are well outside of budget. After addressing this in my last email to the owner he stopped responding and refuses to elaborate on where the additional over runs in budget were. The project manager will no longer respond to my text messages and refuses to provide a list of what's left to complete the project. I am a new homeowner and they have effectively taken advantage of me. I am left with little to no recourse as I put most of my funds into this project believing that they would help me. For what it's worth, I'm sure the work that they did was sufficient quality, but please be wary if you ever have to question where budget over runs happen, as they may stop responding to you and you too may be left with an unfinished project and minimal idea of what all is left to be done."

Family owned & operated. Dan Netko Exteriors is a licensed and GAF certified contractor that has been in operation since 1979. Our commitment today is the same as it was in the beginning - to provide the best possible workmanship with the highest quality materials. Our goal at the end of each job is to have our customer glad they hired us and eager to recommend us to their friends. We give a 15 year warranty on our workmanship. We confidently offer this because we employ skilled crews that are held accountable for the details. We believe that if we focus on doing things right the first time our customers will only need to call us to do additional work. Dan Netko always inspects every job himself to make sure the quality of workmanship is held to the highest standard. Award winning. Feel free to call us at (612) 201-1449 and (612) 418-0678.

"Dan installed a new roof and siding on our house in 2008 after a hailstorm. In July of 2019 we noticed a brown spot on the ceiling in a bedroom and determined there two leaks in the roof. After numerous unanswered calls, Dan finally agreed to come out and look at the roof and determined that there may have been an issue with the way the shingles were installed around the roof vents and he corrected that but the roof still leaked. Dan came out again and decided to caulk around the vents as he determined that was the only place the water could be coming from even though the leaks were four and nine feet away from the nearest vent. Even after caulking the vents the roof still leaked. Dan came out again and covered one of the vents with plastic to see if it was the vent itself but the roof still leaked. Dan came out yet again and replaced four vents but the roof still leaked. Dan tells me at this point that it can’t be anything he did and didn’t offer any further solutions on how to fix the problem. By now it is October and we are running out of time to get things fixed so I agreed to pay Dan’s cost for materials needed to replace the shingles on the portion of the roof that leaked but I couldn’t get him to agree to pay for the labor. I finally agree to pay for the labor too because my roof is still leaking and I need it fixed. At this point Dan asks me to determine how much of the roof should be replaced. Isn’t that his job? He even refused to come out and look at the roof while his crew removed the shingles to see if there was any way to determine what the problem was. Dan does not return phone calls on a timely basis (this was also true in 2008) and in my case he was not willing to stand behind his warranty or even offer any suggestions on how we could possibly get some relief from the shingle manufacturer. Dan claims that in doing roofs for 40 years he had never seen a problem like mine. I talked to three other roofers about my problem and they all agreed that even if they could not have determined why the roof was leaking they would have replaced the shingles at no cost to me for two reasons; one is that it would have been the right thing to do and the other was to avoid getting a bad review. Also, all of the other roofers refused to try and fix the leak as they did not want to take on the liability if the problem persisted. They would only replace the whole roof."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Skylights need periodic cleaning to remove dirt, debris, and condensation buildup. You should also inspect the seals and flashing once per year, looking for signs of wear or leaks, especially after heavy storms. Energy-efficient skylights with Low-E coatings or double glazing require less upkeep, but all skylights benefit from occasional resealing and checking for cracks to prevent drafts and moisture issues.

Fixed skylights are by far the most popular type. Because skylights can be pretty high up on your ceiling, fixed (rather than operable) skylights remove some maintenance from the equation. Plus, you don’t have to constantly worry if you shut your skylight fully the last time you opened it or if you’re going to find a leak later on during a rainy day.

Skylights last an average of 15 years before requiring repairs and upgrades. If you're experiencing multiple issues with an older skylight, it may be time for a replacement. In most cases, however, professionals will be able to repair or replace individual parts of your skylight for less, such as the glass or the flashing.

Skylights are the most likely windows to leak if installed improperly, so there are a few questions you should ask any skylight installer before you hire them:

  • Do you specialize in skylight installation or only windows in general?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty for the installation?

  • What recourse do I have if the skylight leaks shortly after installation?

  • Do you have references I can speak with?

  • How long have you been in business?

  • Are you licensed and insured?

Local window and door specialists, glaziers, and roofers should all install skylights. You can also do an internet search to find companies that specialize in skylight installation near you. Keep in mind that skylight installation is very complex and can be dangerous without the proper tools and safety precautions, so we don’t recommend this as a DIY project.

By submitting this question, I acknowledge and agree that Angi may publicly display my name, city, state, and question on the website for professionals and others to see.
