Issues with new window leak after they replaced siding. Took over a year from my initial notification of the new leak for them to remove siding and investigate problem. They said old leak and exterior wall damaged from leak. Not sure how their crew hung the house siding if the wall was wet like they said. They said they would give us a bid to repair and no follow up for 2 months. Left a piece of siding off my house that whole time. Do not recommend.
Response from Northland Home Exteriors Inc
"We thank you for trusting our company to do the work on your home and are sorry that you are not happy with your experience. We know that can be frustrating. The leak you are talking about is coming from an improperly installed deck. Proper flashing was not installed under the patio door to divert the water from the house. Water is getting into the wall under the patio door. Since you told us that this was a new leak, we added additional caulking around the exterior window to see if that would fix the leaking issue. After a short waiting period, it seemed to be the answer. We then replaced the wood around the interior of the window. Water was noticed again. We removed the siding and deck boards around the patio door. That's when we noticed the improper flashing for the deck. We contacted a deck installation crew who sent a bid for repair. He sent the bid again after you alerted us that you did not receive the initial bid. Again, we are sorry that you felt our services were not up to your standards. Please contact us if we can be of any further assistance. We can try to help you find a deck repairman who might do the repair for less."

They did a really good job. Oh, my God, the price was really good! I checked with a few other places and their price was pretty darn good. It was really good. They listened to what I said, they got my windows done really fast. They cleaned up everything afterward. When they did my Soffit Fascia gutters they did that really quick. It looks good.I haven't had any problems with it. I have still have to think about the fact that I'm still getting ice dams because not one company listens to me.I talked to him about, and he said this is the way things are this, is the way this should be.I'm like okay, Obviously you're not going to listen to me I'm gonna have to tear it down and do it the right way myself. They were right on time every time they were supposed to be here. They were very good. They explained to me what they were doing and how long it was going to take them. If they had to run and do something they would say okay, somebody messed up, we forgot this piece, I gotta go back and get it.It would take them about 30 minutes there, back and we'll still have it done today.

Everyone was very professional, and the work looks great. Only issue was the installer made a decision that we did not need flashing in the area we requested it, flashing was required and it took a couple of days to get the installer back and rectify it. During that time was kept up-to-date on what the progress was on getting the installer back.

They were done in a couple of hours and we love the new windows and it has helped a great deal with the heating bills this winter.

We Received a cold call to see if we would be interested in replacement windows. Our kitchen windows were BAD. (1/2and quot; gaps/cold kitchen in the winter) We decided to go for an estimate. The reps were very nice, we rolled soffSoets and facia into the deal and they were very helpful in lining up financing for the whole job. so off we go. The fellow that came out to measure the windows (they were bay windows) told me that the extention would not be as deep as the exsisting windows, I was ok with that, as the old window extended 21and quot;. While they were building the windows the soffet and fascia guy showed up to do his work. The work is beutiful! the apperance of my house is improved significantly. BUT,! while he was here, he told me at least six times that to do the job right, I should reside at the same time. I agereed that and quot;that would be the right way to do itand quot;. I answered the first time that he brought it up, that I could not afford to re-side.
But he continued on about it. I felt uncomfortable.
But wait.... there is more. When the windows showed up, they only bumped out 9and quot;. Less then 1/2 the depth that we had in the old windows. Even the guy that wrote up the original quote had a shocked look on his face when he walked into the yard. I did not dislike the windows, but the initial shock was a lot.
We negotiated an adjustment in the price, and like I side we do like the windows. What I felt about this process of settlement, was that it didn't feel like Northland really took a lead in and quot;making it rightand quot;. During the install, one of the panes was broken. No problem, it happens. It was 3 weeks ago. No one has updated me on the status, or contacted me, or RETURNED a call to update this customer on the progress...even if there is no progress, a phone call goes a long way. That is why I can't give this company a better rating.
I was raised in a family business and over 45 years ago, my father said to me every chance he had, and quot;If you're going to do it, do it rightand quot; and he defined and quot;rightand quot; as, and quot;doing something as you were going to make it, or use it for yourselfand quot; Thanks Dad!!

The company called origionally about windows! I asked, and quot;Do you do roofs?and quot; They did and I set up an appointment for an estimate.
Steve came out and gave us an estimate and we had the roof replaced.
The crew did a great job and cleaned up the area. Aside from the noise they did a fantastic job. The noise is unavoidable!!!!!!

The roofing and siding were replaced after a storm. Unfortunately the roofing was replaced four years prior due to a hail storm and Northland fixed up the shabby job the previous company did. They took pictures of the roof to show me the poor work and dealt with my insurance company for all the repairs. The work was always checked up on by supervisors and they were always communicating with me. The brick wall was to be a repair job but the guys that came out suggested going over it with stone and it turned out gorgeous. Very nice workers, worked all day and did a great job cleaning up.

It took three months from the time we agreed until they were installed. In fact I made the first payment before they were installed. Plus the installers got mud all over my carpet.

Josh, our salesman, was punctual and informative without being pushy. We made several changes along the way, and Josh helped the process along. Andrew, the foreman, was friendly and efficient; as i said, the whole project was completed over a Thursday and Friday.

I was very happy with every phase of this large job. Chris kept me informed at every step of the process. Every workman involved was proficient, communicated well, and showed pride in both their work and satisfying me. From the dumpster delivery man to the 2 man crew that did the windows and doors, the 2 man crew that did the siding, the painter and the handyman, every one was a pro. As with any job this large there were problems, from the wrong color downspouts being delivered, a tough fit on one of the entry doors, and the weather getting in the way of painting. Chris took care of all these problems in a manner which made them appear minor. I recommend this company with no reservations. I wanted a company that would minimize my worry about those horror stories that come with a project of this size. Northland Home Exteriors was just that company.
