On the day of install the carpenter worked quickly but took time to make sure his ladder was properly secured. He was able to the job without much issue but always checked with me if something could be done to save me money. He also took time to give some suggestions on a drainage issue which might help prevent further issues with the siding. Overall I was happy with the job.
"Thanks for calling us for the garage reroof. It's great having old customers call us back when they have new projects."
"Thanks for doing the review."
"Thanks for taking the time to do a review. We appreciate your business and the review."
"Thanks so much for taking the time to do the review. Have a great winter. (If that's even possible in Minnesota)"
Our experience is that Dan Netco Exteriors takes labor shortcuts in order to win bids and later refuses to honor their warranty on resulting problems.
We hired Dan Netko Exteriors to paint my elderly father?s house and deck. Since the house is cedar and the previous paint was peeling badly we tried to find someone who would not skimp on the extensive prep needed. We selected them to do an estimate because their website states:
?From the most intricate and detailed interior painting job to exterior painting requiring extensive surface prep, our professional painters do it all?
and also regarding their warranty:
?Our 15 year warranty on workmanship is exceptional in the contracting business?
We emphasized to the estimator that given the extensive prep work needed, we wanted to make sure that the bid fully covered all labor to ensure long-lasting results. When we asked if the deck could be completed the painter said yes, though it might require additional labor and stated that the same paint used on the house would work fine on the deck. We agreed to the bid price plus time and materials for wood replacement as needed.
The job was completed to our satisfaction in September but by May, much of the paint had peeled from the deck rails and floor. We called Dan Netco about the problem and Dan asked that we send photos of the problem. We sent photos clearly depicting the peeling paint and Dan agreed that there was a problem. His response was that decks were a problem and he should have told us it needed sanding but he was reluctant to tell homeowners that for fear of losing the bid. On further protest Dan said he would talk to the painter but he has not returned phone calls or emails since. We felt this relatively contained problem could easily have been resolved and are very disappointed. What good is a 15 year warranty that isn?t honored even 6 months after the work?
Update Dec. 27th: Unfortunately I didn't see Dan's response until now. I would like to clarify that the work was done on my father's house in Ramsey. (Not a father-in-law in Andover.) We would be very pleased if Dan would offer to correct the issues with the paint on my father's deck.

We have not done any work for this member. It sounds like she is referring to painting we did for her father in law in Andover. I did not say: "he should have told us it needed sanding but he was reluctant to tell homeowners that for fear of losing the bid. " My painting crew did a great job on painting the house and garage and the her father in law does not have any complaints on that. The fact is that the wood deck surface in some areas and some parts of the top surface of the handrails were badly weather damaged (cracked and some algae/fungus starting to grow). When my painter started to work on the deck, he should have alerted the homeowner that nothing will stick to horizontal surfaces that have been weather damaged to that degree. He should have let me know before he went ahead and painted or stained those surfaces. Then I could have talked to the homeowner and prepared him for the possible failure of the paint in those areas and I would have suggested replacing those boards that were badly compromised. I'm sorry that this didn't happen. If he wants us to replace all the bad wood on the deck surface and all the bad handrails, we could do that."

"Thanks for the review. We all appreciate the work. Have a great year."
"Thanks for the work and thanks for taking the time to do the review. Have a great summer. If you need windows or doors replaced or new siding, roofing, brick masonry work on the chimney or walls, we do it all."
"The painter that worked on your job has done good work for me in the past. Many of the excellent reviews we've gotten prior to this one were from jobs that he did. We're not using him anymore because of a couple of reviews like this one from his work. Too bad you didn't let me know right at the time we did this work for you. I could have made it right with you."
