"Great craftsmanship, horrible communication. Since I work near here, I went to them with a personal project need at my home. I was told that my project as less than their current minimum threshold but that they'd make an exception. I had told them I had that my project was somewhat time sensitive and after their initial emailed proposal, I replied with some questions/edits. I didn't hear anything back for a couple days, so I emailed back and had no reply. So then I called them and was told that I'd have a reply to my email by the next day. Near the end of the next day, I still had no reply to my email, so I walked down to their office and inquired in person; I was told that the person handling my project, the owner Katie, was not even in that day but that I'd get a reply the next day. Well, no big surprise - still no reply the next day! I guess some people just do not want business and don't have the common courtesy to communicate with their customers, especially when it is made clear that there are time constraints. I had much higher hopes for this project and using their services but I will be bringing my business elsewhere."

Our company has provided complete general contracting services for residential remodeling projects since 1978. Employees. Use only Licensed & Insured Sub-Contractors with long-term relationships. MN Lic. # BC-2562. Serving The Twin Cities Since 1978. EPA RRP Certified
"Overall, the project went very well, We are happy with the quality of the work and the result. The plans were creative, and we were happy with the design selections and guidance. There were a few unexpected changes to layout due to structural constraints, which resulted in a less efficient flow. The cost of change orders were not clearly explained prior to execution. The contractor was very hands on and at the job site extensively, and she was easy to get a hold of. The carpenter was not available to work on the project on Fridays, which did extend the project timeline. The contractor pointed out repairs/improvements that needed to be made to bring the home up to code. This added cost, but was necessary and appreciated."

"I had an extremely disappointing experience with Two Dames and Friends. Tracey, the co-owner, was not transparent about the pricing. I had my kitchen floors redone. She sourced 2 bids but did not attend the install. When I received the estimates, she did not include her markup. When I received the final invoice it was $600 over the estimate. Sourcing 2 bids was not worth $600. She said I was paying for her "knowledge, skill and oversight". I didn't get my money's worth on all three. Also, she completely forgot to let the flooring people into my house so at the last minute I had to hide a key because I couldn't take the day off work. I was so disappointed with this service and her lack of transparency in the pricing/mark up."

Custom One Construction's motto is "exceeding expectations". We make it our priority to ensure that the job is done right, in a timely manner, and when we walk out the door, the customer is happy. The owners Jeff and Chris have combined experience of over 30 years in construction, and have amassed a wide range of knowledge in multiple fields. Most of our estimates are free. No job is too big or too small. We are neither the cheapest company nor are we the most expensive, but our work is of the highest quality. We do not have a fancy business office, drive big shiny trucks, or staff a fast-talking salesman. When we arrive at the jobsite, it is just Jeff and Chris. So we can afford to offer reasonable rates! Despite this difficult economy, Custom One Construction LLC. has grown simply by word of mouth, and we believe there is something to be said about that. We have references to help ease your mind when considering a project with us. Additional service areas: Scott, Washington & portions of Goddhue & Carver Counties

Building a custom closet costs about $2,000, on average. Because many types, sizes, and designs are available, the cost to build custom closets ranges from $250 to $6,000 or more. A reach-in closet is on the lower end of the price range from about $250 to $1,500, compared to a walk-in closet at $750 to $3,500 or a wardrobe at the high end between $1,500 and $6,000 or more.
The main difference between a closet and a wardrobe is that a closet is a separate room for general storage with its own door, and a wardrobe can be either built-in or freestanding place to store clothing. A walk-in or reach-in closet connected to a bedroom often serves the same purpose as a wardrobe by primarily storing clothes and shoes. A built-in wardrobe often does not have doors and leaves clothes exposed to view, whereas a standalone wardrobe usually has doors.
You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.
Different types of closets are defined mostly by size. A few different types of closets include:
A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.
A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.
A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.
Yes, building a custom closet can definitely add value to your home. Creating a more useful and pleasing space to your home, especially a custom closet for prospective home buyers to imagine as their own, is likely to increase the value. However, avoid overdoing it with a closet that takes up too much space that’s otherwise more useful as living space, or paying extra for overly lavish materials and finishes that aren’t likely to add more value than they cost.
