"My chest freezer broke down and I did not want to buy a new one since I could not afford the same size. I reached out to appliance parts pro and they were confident that what I ordered would fix my problem. $200 in parts later and I now have a broken freezer on my porch and am still paying the loan to this terrible company. They just want you to order parts and try them because they know you can't return them. I hate this company with every fiber of my being and will make sure that anyone that has a broken appliance will not use them. To top it off, their site is so screwed up that it give you an error trying to log back in. I ended up having to create THREE different accounts because every time I went to place a new order, it would not let me login and it would not send a password reset email. DON'T GET RIPPED OFF."

At BPG, we believe home inspections shouldn't end at the driveway. Our inspectors and engineers undergo thorough background checks and must meet ongoing training and performance standards -- they are a selective group of professionals. With so many inspection companies to choose from, how do you select one that fits your needs? We've earned a solid reputation for standing behind our work and providing distinct value advantages that help protect our clients.

"Deceptive on price and price gouging. Extremely poor customer service. Inspection cost was not disclosed up front, on site we were told ‘I don’t handle that aspect’. Ultimately charged almost 1,000 for an inspection. I called 3 times to inquire about it, but no manager would return my call. Months later they decided it was easier to push to collection agency than simply call me to reach an agreement. Not a company that respects or cares about customers."

"When their tech, Tom, came out the first time to see why my Viking dishwasher would not cycle all the way, he could not diagnose the problem. He said when it throws a code to let him know. I paid the $119 service call. About 6 weeks later it threw a code. I called 5 or 6 times to talk with him and was told several times he would call me. He never did call me so I ordered the part and set up another service call. When Tom arrived July 12, the first thing I said to him was if it is not the correct part, I can return it. He should have confirmed the part was correct immediately but instead he proceeded to pull the dishwasher out. It took him one hour of trying to figure out how to pull it out. It sounded as if he was demoing the kitchen. As he was trying to pull it out, he damaged the wood trim panels on both sides. Then...he looked up the part and figured it was not the correct part. He said he would come back a 3rd time but it would cost in excess of $500. So...I'm sitting here with a dishwasher that is still broken and they billed me a second time for $166. I sent them an email explaining why I wouldn't pay a second time as my dishwasher still did not work. A month later they billed my credit card the $166 which was unauthorized. Updated as of 8/15/2023 When their tech, Tom, came out the first time to see why my Viking dishwasher would not go through all cycles, he could not diagnose the problem. He really did not know how to service a Viking dishwasher which you told me he did when I made the original phone call to fix my dishwasher. He said he will not do another. So...I'm sitting here with a dishwasher that is still broken and they want to bill me again?? They billed me while unauthorized from the credit card I used to pay them the first time."

FAQs for appliance repair projects in Minneapolis, MN

If your refrigerator needs to be repaired, contact an appliance repair company to diagnose the issue and repair your refrigerator. It’s okay to leave it plugged in and running, but unplug it if it makes unusual noises.

Signs that your refrigerator may need repairs include:

  • Food items are not being held at the correct temperature (between 35 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit)

  • The fridge is using too much energy and seems to run all the time

  • Loud and/or unusual noises

Possible causes include:

  • A damaged door

  • Faulty condenser coil

  • Malfunctioning control board

Contacting an appliance repair professional as soon as possible can help save items in your fridge from spoiling. Common fridge repairs include the compressor, control board, thermostat, defrost motor, coils, and ice maker.

If you’re having problems with your dryer, contact an appliance repair professional as soon as possible to inspect and repair it. Having a faulty dryer can be a major inconvenience in the home.

Your dryer may need repairs if:

  • It isn’t turning on

  • It’s not releasing enough heat

  • The drum doesn’t spin

Common repairs include:

  • A damaged or worn-out belt or

  • Damaged or shorted electrical wiring

  • A control board malfunction

Dryers tend to overheat or become short-circuited over time, especially after heavy use. Other common dryer repairs include door switches, timers, and control boards.

If the unit is not under warranty, then you may want to call a reliable appliance repair technician to diagnose the issue and recommend a repair. Some of the most common washing machine issues are inadequate water supply to the unit, poor drainage due to clogging, leaks, and excessive vibration while washing. Like ovens, the cost to repair a washing machine will vary widely depending on which issue you’re experiencing.

The average cost to repair an appliance depends on the appliance, make, model, the part that needs repair, and how long it takes to replace or repair a part. The following are the average repair costs for the most common appliances:

  • Refrigerator: $200–$300

  • Freezer: $90–$500

  • Oven, cooktop, range: $100–$500

  • Microwave: $50–$400

  • Dishwasher: $160–$300

  • Garbage disposal: $70–$250

  • Washing machine: $50–$450

  • Dryer: $100–$400

Appliance repair contractors may charge $40 to $120 per hour for labor, and most also provide the replacement parts necessary at an additional cost.  It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays and emergency fees may apply if you need your appliance fixed immediately.

It's good to contact the manufacturer first to see if any warranties still exist, and if they have any specific repair persons they recommend. Some specialty units or smart units may require the assistance of a manufacturer-approved technician. Oven issues can be more challenging to diagnose than other appliances in the home because many of the parts are difficult to access for inspection or replacement. Some common oven repairs involve replacing damaged burners, heating coils, or electric cables. Purchasing additional parts, such as a new heating coil may also increase the total repair cost.
