"The people arrived on time and cleaned everything, except the windows, in the house. I had another service do the windows. The house was empty since we had sold the home, so there was easy access for the people doing the cleaning. The wood floors were cleaned, all the carpeted areas vacuumed well, all doors were wiped down, and they cleaned all the bathrooms and the kitchen very well. They cleaned the wood blinds, but do not clean vinyl blinds"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

New carpet installation offers warmth, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. It can improve indoor air quality by trapping dust particles and provides a sound-dampening effect, which is beneficial for creating quiet environments.

Installing carpet tile takes a pro a few hours per room, while experienced DIYers may take a little longer. However, that does not factor in the time needed to remove the old carpet. Also, if there are issues with the subfloor, fixing it will add to the overall time it takes to complete the installation.

When choosing whether to install carpet in your home, consider the pros and cons of this change:

Pros

  • More affordable than laminate flooring

  • Gives the room a warmer feel

  • Softer on feet

  • Wide variety of textures and colors

  • Hides dirt easily

  • Faster and easier to install

Cons

  • Shows wear and tear more quickly than laminate flooring

  • Shows stains

  • Soaks up liquids

  • May not work well in some areas, such as a bathroom

  • Less durable than laminate flooring

  • Susceptible to water damage, mold, and mildew

Carpet installation typically starts with removing the old flooring, preparing the subfloor, laying underpadding for cushioning, and securing the new carpet with tack strips, making precise cuts to fit room dimensions.

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet
