"I do not recommend this company due to poor quality of product. - Jan 2023 bought 2 patio doors, 3 slider windows. Product that was installed in May included 2 cracked slider windows and all products had wrong color on interior. All needed to be replaced. - May 2023 bought additional 19 windows. After install in Oct 2023, 13 of the 19 had noted manufacturing defects requiring replacement in January 2024. After install of these replacements in January 2024, additional 7 had noted manufacturing defects requiring replacement in April 2024. At install of these latest replacements, 5 more had noted manufacturing defects requirement replacement (which has not yet happened) - June 2024 during rainstorm noted two of the window sets had significant water leaks. Company was advised with documentation on 6.4.2024; as of today 6.8.2024 company has yet to acknowledge my request for refund so I can re-replace the windows with a different company. Additionally several of the caulk lines were obviously done by a new employee, as I had to have the contractor installing new siding re-do those lines."

Bay windows and garden windows differ in both size and window angle. Garden windows are smaller than bay windows and extend from the house at 90-degree angles, creating a box-like shape. Bay windows, often much larger than garden windows, consist of three windows set at 25- to 45-degree angles to jut out from your home.

Having a professional caulk your windows will cost you around $50 to $70 per window (or $1.25 to $4 per linear foot), including labor. However, caulking is one of the easiest DIYs there is, and you’ll save a lot of money by getting the supplies and doing it yourself. You’ll only pay $0.05 to $0.20 per linear foot if you DIY this one. Finally, different types of caulk don’t vary too much in price, with most tubes costing no more than $15 apiece (but typically only $3 to $10) at the most. 

Shatter-resistant glass will ensure that even with a high impact, the glass of your window panes is less likely to break. If you’re looking for a more low-cost way to prevent vandalism, the most traditional answer would be to board up windows with a strong plywood sheet. Adding security cameras is also a surefire way to ward off potential vandalism. 

Look for stickers at the top or inside of the frame, like in the tracks when the window is open. Some brands also stamp their name onto the frame itself or place it between the panes of glass, although this is less common. If you can’t find the info on the window itself, consider asking your neighbors or HOA.

The material around a window is simply called the window frame, but the individual pieces also have different names. The top portion of the frame is called the head, the side pieces are called jambs, and the bottom portion is called the sill. If you have multiple windows next to each other, you’ll also have a mullion, which is the frame piece that separates the individual windows. Windows stacked on top of each other are separated by a horizontal frame piece, which is called a transom.
