"Emergency sewer line repair done very quickly and without extensive front entry disruption….no digging up of the front grass or sidewalk, no removal of the porch and steps. Not an easy job, but they were able to dig underneath the porch stoop and fix a break of unknown cause. I was back in my house much sooner than expected and a very reasonable cost. Toilet handles can get stuck for a couple of reasons, but it’s commonly an issue with the chain. Remove the lid and check the chain’s connection, running from the flapper to the handle arm. Sometimes the chain gets snagged on or against another part of the tank. 

The chain might not have the right tension. For example, a chain that’s too short can make the handle feel stuck. Check that there’s some slack in the chain. Old, worn-out flappers can get stuck, too. In this case, you’ll need to see which size toilet flapper you need.

Start by pouring hot—but not boiling—water down the drain. The heat of the water may be enough to break down the clog. You can also try ½ cup of dish soap or 1 cup each of white vinegar and baking soda. If you choose a chemical unclogging product, ensure it’s appropriate for toilets to avoid damage.

Showers frequently experience leaks, most commonly originating from either the faucet or a malfunctioning shower drain. Detecting a leaky faucet is straightforward—listen for the constant sound of dripping water, even after you believe you've fully closed the faucet. In the case of a shower drain issue, it is often characterized by water seeping from the base, usually caused by a deteriorated seal between the shower wall and the shower tray.

You can and should use a hose to fill a hot tub. There shouldn’t be anything special about the hose other than it shouldn’t be damaged. Kinks or leaks could slow down the filling process. Attach the hose to the nearest spigot and get the water flowing.

Shut-off valves, like any other piece of metal hardware, can corrode, age, get worn down, and eventually break or rust into place. Occasionally spray your shut-off valve with WD-40 to stall it from rusting. If it really gets stuck, a wrench and WD-40 will usually do the trick, but you will need to call a plumber if it’s completely unmovable.
