"He did a great job and worked very hard! He saved our roof rafters in our attic and created a new opening in the hallway ceiling. He carefully caulked all of our exterior windows and doors, washed & painted the exterior, installed a new gutter and drain pipe, just to name a few items... Very flexible in working with me on decisions as to what repairs were needed inside and outside of the house. Very relational and friendly. Really cares about his work!"

"Daren came out to give us an estimate on painting the trim on our 1930s era tudor. Due to the favorable pricing and glowing reviews, we decided to go with Daren to perform these services. We were not disappointed. Daren's crew sanded, prepped and painted all the trim around our house in a week. They also caulked the windows. They did a very professional job and the end result looks great. We are very pleased with the work of this company and will use them again for other interior jobs that we have. You can tell Daren takes great pride in his work and it shows."

"They did a nice job.  It was quick and the rooms look nice.  I don't think there was enough detail in the fine print.  They charged extra for the ceiling.  I painted the trim. This deal only covered the walls and nothing walls. They did do some very minor repairs."

"I had an older home with a galley kitchen. My kitchen dreams to remove the adjoining load baring wall between my living room and kitchen over a stairwell with all new cabinets was made true by Vlad, Dimitry and the guys from Cabinets for Everyone. They went above and beyond what was agreed upon to make sure that not only was the project completed right that I could rest assured knowing previously incorrect construction was fixed. Take for example they provided additional insulation and replaced some old trim for me outside the kitchen area to make it look more congruent. These guys are truly great and I would hire them again for a different project!"

"Overall we were satisfied with the quality of the job but we did run into some issues. Sam said it would take 2 days to complete but it ended up taking 6 full days. Unfortunately I had to use a lot more vacation to be home for this than I anticipated. We ran into some issues with the sub-contractors. One guy got nothing done the day he was there and then never showed up the next day. To Sam's credit, he called in another framer and the work was started as soon as possible. The quality was decent but we ended up having to fix some spots ourselves and add some extra framing to make the areas aesthetically pleasing. The crew members were all polite and cleaned up after themselves, which I always appreciate. Sam is very easy to work with and very professional. He takes his business seriously and has high expectations of his crew. Despite the issues we encountered we were still happy with the work and the price."

Window Shutter Repair questions, answered by experts

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.
