It’s best to leave concrete to set for three days before exposing to foot traffic or stress. Concrete takes between 20 and 30 days to cure and reach its peak strength, so for foundations and retaining walls, plan to wait about a month before placing any load on your concrete.

Concrete walkways cost around $1,800 for 200 square feet. At an average width of 3 feet, that price will likely cover a walkway that’s around 65 feet long. This price is also for walkways that are 4 inches thick. If you need thicker concrete to support vehicle traffic, you will pay more. This price includes the cost of the concrete itself, as well as the cost for delivery and installation.

New concrete can crack within 12 hours of finishing, as it can be a common occurrence as the concrete dries and cures. Certain weather conditions and temperatures can slow or speed up the cracking.
