In response to the company: Gordon never proved that he purchased anything at Scherer Brothers. He claims he initially purchased the posts and wrap material from Scherer Brothers, but he did not provide any documentation. He did not produce the invoice from Scherer Brothers. He claims he left the invoice on the counter but, I know this is untrue because he is very conscientious with his documents. I never told him the posts looked great, in fact, I asked why he did not miter the edges of the wrap and why there was no trim at the top of the posts. His response was the posts were too wide to put trim at the top and he could not answer with a reason why he did not miter the edges. I did not think it looked good; I have already had them replaced. Gordon installed the posts even though he knew the dimensions were too wide. His labor charge was $350 and $45 for materials including 2 1/2" rim nails, painter caulk, construction adhesive, and exterior wood glue, all supplies that he had on his van from other jobs. I hired someone to remove the posts that Gordon installed and he installed new posts that look good. Removal of posts and installation of the new posts was $200 with no additional fees for supplies. I feel Gordon exploits his customer with high fees and extra charges
"I would like to be paid for my labor and materials used. ($350.00 labor and $45.00 materials.) I purchased the original materials (6x6 cedar posts and materials to wrap the bottom and top of posts) from Scherer bros lumber. As Member requested the materials be purchase from there. There were a couple small blemishes on the bottom of posts, but in the area that would be cut off. This was unacceptable and had me return said materials. I was unable to return the wrap materials as I had Scherer bros cut them. I talked to Member and gave her some leads/ideas on other types of post, composite materials she could use. I continued to tell her that I would install what ever she had delivered to job site. Member had materials delivered from Scherer bros lumber and I install the 4 posts. (6x6 Green treated post and materials to wrap the entire post as it was not cedar.) Just as I was finishing installation/cleanup, she came home and said they looked great. Asked me if I would drive her to the bank to get check for payment. Continued to tell her she could just send a check in the mail. The next day she called and said she did not like the posts and was not going to pay me. I in good faith install the materials Member supplied as she requested. With that said I have been paid $0.00 on this job to date. Gordon Oleson"
