Gordon came out the day of my house closing to come assess and estimate work to be done. He was prompt and professional. I am a single mom of two little girls and he treated me like he would anyone else in addition to keeping me informed of all work schedules, sending me pics of the work which inspired me daily, and was respectful of my crazy schedule. Last, he went out of his way, it seemed, to save me money. Gordon did a ton but his largest task with me was blowing up a tiny kitchen and expanding it out to where the informal dining room was. I used Ikea bases/cabinets which he'd dealt with before and it went really well. He also oversaw and/or performed the installation of my new appliances, oversaw the installation the flooring and counters (from different vendors), installed three new doors including a sliding barn door, installed a new double vanity in my bathroom, installed lighting fixtures, and facilitated the electric work that was necessary for the kitchen. One of the things I most appreciated about Gordy was his presence when different vendors would come to assess/estimate work to be done. For example, when the counter sales-guy came, Gordy was front and center and seemed kind of protective of me, making sure I was getting what I wanted and letting me know when something was a good deal or not. This was the first time I've taken something like this on without my ex-husband's expertise, so I really appreciated Gordy's presence in that way. Gordy's communication was exceptional. He always let me know what he was up to that day, what to expect to be working/not-working and so forth. He texted pictures to let me know how things were progressing which was such a nice touch. I will absolutely use Gordy again and would recommend him to anyone, including my closest friends. His work stunned people who saw it and I imagine (hope) he'll be getting calls based on that. He is a perfectionist and is a genuinely nice, caring guy.

The experience was surprising, because when I got the bill, it was $500 more than what was agreed. Nothing was said about the bill, and somehow I signed up for 3 years work, and that was $800. Not everything was explained, and as far as the services, they work fine, until I downloaded the software. I then had to call them to sort it out. I am just happy that it is working. They had to haul it twice, and I didn't have any problems until I downloaded the software. I would tell people to ask questions, and I don't remember a long term contract being signed up with them. I would tell people to search around, and I don't like the bait and switch, where they tell you one thing, and then it is something else. You can buy a new computer for half the price that I paid for their software. I wasn't tickled about the whole thing. I didn't have some of the issues until I downloaded their software, and then I had to buy their software to get it fixed. I live in a moderate coverage area, and I thought this would help but there were stumbling blocks, until I had to download all their software, and then it was back to where it was. I feel like I didn't get my money's worth.  There is free software that does the same thing that they do, I just hope their software does not have a lock key, but in 3 years, I am going to dump their software, and buy a new computer.

It was perfect. They are very precise at leveling, and very careful with the back splash. These were cambria counter tops. We've used them for a number of projects because he is just so thorough. He is at the top my list.

The door looks great. We've had Gordon from Total Maintenance do many different jobs for us over the past few years and we're always happy with how they turn out. I especially value his advice about different ways to do a project. My husband wanted a different kind of door that would have been more expensive, but Gordon discussed the alternatives with us and we ended up with a better door for the space. Total Maintenance also did some roof work for us several months ago which we're also happy with. I'll definitely use them again.

I was in the hospital when Gordon installed the posts so I was not home to see the job done.  When I arrived home, he had already finished installing the posts.  If I had been home at the time he was starting the job I would have realized the posts would not be the finished size we had discussed.  I did not think he would install the posts if they were not the appropriate size for the area.  We talked about the job for a month. I told him the posts needed to be six inches square when they were completed.  I called him several times, as I was looking at the materials.  I confirmed the purchase with him before I finalized it.  When I was buying the wrap for the posts, I called Gordon to let him know the thickness of the wrap and asked him if it was too thick.  He said it was fine.  Gordon, being the contractor, should guide the customer with the proper information.  In hind site, he should have told me to purchase four inch posts rather than six inch because he knew that the posts had to be six inches finished with the wrap and the trim on the top and bottom.  Because the posts were too large he was unable to put the trim at the top of the posts as it was previously.  He also did not miter the edges of the wrap as we had discussed.  When he realized the posts were too big he should not have installed them and I could have exchanged them for the proper size.  In reviewing some of his invoices for another job he did for me, I discovered that he purchased some materials for himself on my invoice.  He acted as if it was just a mistake.  He is expensive and I felt he likes to rack up expenses.  Gordon could have avoided this problem if he had waited to install the posts.  I would not use his services again because I do not think he is honest and to trust him to do as you want, is questionable.  I do not recommend him even though he acts so friendly.

In response to the company: Gordon never proved that he purchased anything at Scherer Brothers.  He claims he initially purchased the posts and wrap material from Scherer Brothers, but he did not  provide any documentation.  He did not produce the invoice from Scherer  Brothers.  He claims he left the invoice on the counter but, I know this is untrue because he is very conscientious with his documents.  I never told him the posts looked great, in fact, I asked why he did not miter the edges of the wrap and why there was no trim at the top of the posts. His response was the posts were too wide to put trim at the top and he could not answer with a reason why he did not miter the edges.  I did not think it looked good; I have already had them replaced.  Gordon installed the posts even though he knew the dimensions were too wide.  His labor charge was $350 and $45 for materials including 2 1/2" rim nails, painter caulk, construction adhesive, and exterior wood glue, all supplies that he had on his van from other jobs.  I hired someone to remove the posts that Gordon installed and he installed new posts that look good.  Removal of posts and installation of the new posts was $200 with no additional fees for supplies.  I feel Gordon exploits his customer with high fees and extra charges
Response from Total Maintenance Inc
"I would like to be paid for my labor and materials used. ($350.00 labor and $45.00 materials.) I purchased the original materials (6x6 cedar posts and materials to wrap the bottom and top of posts) from Scherer bros lumber. As Member requested the materials be purchase from there. There were a couple small blemishes on the bottom of posts, but in the area that would be cut off. This was unacceptable and had me return said materials. I was unable to return the wrap materials as I had Scherer bros cut them. I talked to Member and gave her some leads/ideas on other types of post, composite materials she could use. I continued to tell her that I would install what ever she had delivered to job site. Member had materials delivered from Scherer bros lumber and I install the 4 posts. (6x6 Green treated post and materials to wrap the entire post as it was not cedar.) Just as I was finishing installation/cleanup, she came home and said they looked great. Asked me if I would drive her to the bank to get check for payment. Continued to tell her she could just send a check in the mail. The next day she called and said she did not like the posts and was not going to pay me. I in good faith install the materials Member supplied as she requested. With that said I have been paid $0.00 on this job to date. Gordon Oleson"

Mike and Gordy and their crew did a fantastic job remodeling our downstairs bathroom. They were punctual, meticulous and efficient in their work. They put down tarps to protect our wood floors going through the house. Their suggestion for the tile pattern in the shower was perfect and is very attractive. They turned a 1940s bathroom into a beautiful room. We were so happy with their work on our basement that we did not get any other bids for the bathroom. We would definitely use them again for another project and we have recommended them to our children. I did reports for Angie's List after each of the projects.

The project went fairly smoothly.  We had to wait about 3-4 weeks for the cabinets to be built and during that time Gordon spent many hours searching for a replacement sink that would fit our counter top opening.  The actual work in our home was completed in 6 work days with the demo occurring before a weekend so we had a chance to clean and paint the kitchen before the new install

As always, a very good experience. Gordon is very professional and detail-oriented and the quality of his work is always excellent. This particular job (extending a hallway and adding a door) was a tricky one because the ceiling of our basement is not even. He made it look great in the end. The bathroom tiling job he did for us was several years ago but still looks terrific and we have had no problems with it over the years.

They are perfectionists! The old door tended to catch on the rug when closing, so they trimmed off the top of the door opening to lift the new door up. Now we can have a rug inside without a hassle. The doors they hang are always perfectly plumb. The locks always work smoothly. The trim is always fitted meticulously. They have now done 4 doors for us, including a patio door-window combo. Having been a professional myself, I always watch workers to make sure it's done right and that the materials they select are good. After having these guys do several projects for us, I learned that they ALWAYS use high-quality materials: durable handles and locks, good quality lumber, etc. They want their handiwork to operate well and last a long time, which is exactly what the customers want too. Their clean-up is thorough. I trust them in my house when I'm at work. And they're just plain nice guys to have around!

Gordon, his crew and subs did an excellent job. He communicated with us every step of the way. There were no surprises and additional surprise costs. Options were discussed and good advice provided. We were pleased with the value for the price, the quality of the work and the overall experience. I highly recommend Total Maintenance, Inc. and Gordon Oleson.

They worked for us on several different jobs and projects for several years. I was satisfied with the quality and promptness, courtesy etc. although they seemed somewhat expensive. However our last experience has soured us on this company. I've been trying to get an accounting of how much money we have left from our $8,000 deposit for previous work they've done. The owner keeps telling me he'll get back to me with how much he owes us and I've been waiting to get that figure for over a year. I've called several times but I never hear back from him. I'm fed up and annoyed. He says it is only a few hundred dollars and he may be correct but now I guess I have to try to figure it out myself and insist he reimburse me.

Their work was okay, but I didn’t have a great experience with them. The guy doing the work had many things going on in his mind, so he wasn’t necessarily the most personal of all guys. However, he was nice and answered my questions and things like that. He was working in our only bathroom, so some of the things that were going on were a little bit inconvenient for us. He had different guys working for him, and he had contracted them from different places. Their schedules were bizarre and our house was pretty much in a constant state of dust. They weren’t very efficient or clean. Some of the details that we had mentioned to them weren’t taken care of. They did an okay kind of a job.

They were very efficient and timely. The work was done very well. We quibbled about one point. The contract we had stated that he would install a shower door and that that door would be what was standard and available. I want to stress that he performed exactly as the contract stated. However this door had a bar about head high and it was easy to crack your head on it. It seemed to me that it would have made more sense to special order a door that wouldn't have presented that problem. I had to contact another contractor later and have a different door installed. This company had a very high rating but I would probably check the list for a different contractor in the future.
