I am a full service contractor. Often handling all aspects of the job from start to finish. Fully licensed and insured.

"Thad explained that the companies that come around after a storm do the roof, get the money, then never come back. That’s exactly what he did to us. He left the job half done and now we can’t find anyone to finish it. He did the same thing to two of our neighbors. I’ve been trying to get ahold of him for months and he hasn’t responded. He also left a piece of fascia off and we got bats that we then had to pay 2k to get removed."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

While a hygrometer is the most accurate tool for measuring humidity levels in the home, you can gauge humidity levels using simpler methods. One way is by observing signs like condensation on windows or feeling excessively sticky or clammy indoors, indicating higher humidity. Another DIY approach involves the “hair method”—aka placing a few strands of human hair in a closed container with salt for several hours. If the hair becomes limp, it's likely due to high humidity. These methods offer rough estimations, but lack the precision of a hygrometer for accurate readings.

Yes, an inspection contingency is likely a good idea, regardless of if you’re buying a new or older home. It can give you a set number of days to respond to objections that might have been found in the inspection so you can make an informed buying decision.

Failing to open your flue can lead to serious health hazards if you start a fire because the smoke will back up into your home. Breathing fire smoke, even in relatively small quantities, is bad for human lungs, and smoke can also irritate your nasal passages and eyes. Furthermore, smoke can cause damage to your interior fixtures and furnishings, at the very least leaving an unpleasant smoky smell for a long time. In short: If your flue isn’t open (or you’re not sure if it is or not), don’t start a fire to find out!

There are no strict rules for who is responsible for covering repair costs after a home inspection, but major issues with the home often result in a renegotiation. The seller may agree to lower the price to compensate for the cost of the repairs to the buyer, or the seller may agree to fix the repairs before the sale is complete.

Solar panel inspection costs range between $150 and $350. The system's location can increase the cost, with roof-mounted panels being among the more expensive systems to inspect. Larger systems also cost more because of the time it takes to complete the inspection. Other factors affecting the price include the inverter type, objects around the system, and add-ons you purchase along with the inspection.
