Customers say: Quick response

"Bought a house as a first time home buyer and needed some electrical work (inactive 80s alarm system). They came out for a free consultation. They were informative and honest. Travis came out the following week and got everything we needed done in two business days time, during a power outage effecting the state. The pricing was fair and the service was friendly."

"Very thankful Richards Electrical could get me in quickly after I noticed water in my Electrical panel. He was able to seal the suspected leak and get power back on. Very happy with service from this company."

Customers say: Quality work

"

They did a great job, and we have plans to redo a bathroom. I will totally hire those guys to do the electrical. They were just as helpful, friendly, and nice as you could ever want. It was wonderful. They're helpful, and they're willing to make sure everything is perfect. I just thought they were efficient, helpful, they were professional and they knew what they were doing.

"Hired Current Electrical to install recessed lighting in a room that had no overhead lighting. They recommended LED wafers, a smart switch and LED placement I wouldn't have thought of, but is perfect for that room. Tim quoted our larger project, and was able to get our front room scheduled in time to be before a painting project we already scheduled. Their schedule flexibility to fit us in is why we selected them. They were not the cheapest quote we received, but the quality is worth it. The electrician that did our project kept a professional demeanor and did an outstanding job. Would highly recommend Current Electrical."

"They did a great job, but there is a couple of things that were not done very good. The wire clamp holding the wire going into the electric meter wasn't attached properly and the new seal that was installed sealing the wire going into the house leaked. These were easily fixed by me."

"I hired Derek and his colleague to wire up our new hot tub. He was excellent at communicating and providing an estimate before work was started. The quality of work he provided exceeded my expectations. Everything was done neatly, to code, and did not leave a mess at my house. A sprinkler line was damaged during trenching, since we didn't know it was there, and he made the repairs with no questions asked. I would definitely hire him or recommend for electrical work. A+"

"Kenny, the electrian was very friendly and knowable. It took least than an hour so he was happy to do a few other little problems I had. I was very happy with the job and the cost! I will be calling them again for any electrical work I need done and already telling friends about them."

"Writer is a true professional and electrical guru. He arrived within the allotted time frame, got right to work and quickly identified the problem. He even welcomed me to watch him while he worked as he explained the intricacies of the electrical outlet (which was a GFCI multi-branched oulet, connected to other garage and bathroom outlets). It was clear he knew what he was doing. I would recommend him for any electrical problem or fresh installation, and plan to hire him in the future for other electrical projects I have around my house."

"I recommend TEC Electric due in large part to their attention to detail and the quality of their work. The only reason I'm not giving them consistent 5s is because of the 5-day delay in getting me a quote for the job. That said, they were quick to send someone to our home to assess the work that needed to be done. That same technician completed the work in a timely, and professional manner."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Often, simply looking at a Christmas light fuse will reveal whether it’s blown or not. Dark staining inside the glass that looks like a burn mark means the fuse has blown. If a burn mark isn’t evident, visually inspect the fuse for an intact filament inside. The fuse is no longer usable if the filament is broken or appears non-existent.

In many cases, yes, upgrading your electrical panel can lower your electric bill. Upgrading an outdated electrical panel can make your home more energy-efficient, so you consume less electricity and spend less on utility bills. However, to see these savings, you’ll need to invest quite a bit. On average, installing a new electrical panel costs $1,200 to $2,000, with most people paying around $1,600.

To power the system down, simply turn it off and cut it off from its electricity. That means removing the transformer from the wall plug and taking out the battery that usually sits within the control panel itself. That will disconnect it from power and essentially reset the entire alarm system.

It's possible to get power from an outlet for a light switch. However, you must install additional wiring to get current from the outlet to the switch and from the switch to the load it will control. Also, you must ensure that the outlet's electrical circuit can accommodate the additional demand.

Incorrectly wiring a single-pole switch results in the connected light or device not turning on or tripping the circuit breaker. Although it doesn't matter which terminal the hot wire and the load wire connect to, mixing up a circuit wire with a ground or having loose connections can prevent the switch from working.
