"This company does not have a solid understanding of the Generac generators they install. I had the owner out last week to repair ours that is less than 3 years old. He left saying all was good, and on the following Saturday it failed to start for it’s weekly exercise run just as it had before he “repaired” it. Same exact error code. Ask him about Generac’s MobileLink app and he doesn’t have a clue. When I told him it failed again he said that maybe his battery tester was bad and that batteries are not included under the warranty. He said I should buy a new battery. I did, for $190, and it did not solve the problem. When I asked about their covering the cost of the battery, he asked “why should I?”. Steer clear!"

"Their work goes by hours. They did the work really slow and it took a long time for them to accomplish so little. I asked to get the stain removed on the kitchen ceiling. They recommended to repaint the whole ceiling and it took them 6 hours to do a lousy job. There were a few pops here and there after the painting. They spent 2 hours on the bathroom recaulking and didn't have time for the entry door fix. Maybe they didn't know how to do it and tried to find an excuse to get away with easy work. Their work is way overpriced for more than $80 per hour. The old owner is semi-retired and the son is taking over. However, he is covering for his buddies for the lousy work. All their good reviews are probably from the old owner and their business now is going down the drain."

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

Since the cost of installing a ceiling fan is $250 for most homeowners, it might be beneficial to replace your existing fan if you are experiencing a significant repair issue, like a broken motor. However, for less expensive repairs, like a fan blade replacement, you’ll likely spend less on the repair than a complete fan replacement. Of course, if you’re looking for an upgrade or a new style fan, replacing it altogether is always an option. 

In most parts of the country, it’s required by law that a licensed electrician be the one to connect your ceiling fan if the ceiling hasn’t already been wired to support one. We strongly recommend going with a professional if you need to install wiring into your home to power a ceiling fan.
