"I highly recommend Domenico for any patio/brick paving work. Dave went above and beyond to explain my design options and coordinate new pavers with my existing ones. The respect he demonstrates for his crew, is greatly appreciated as a customer and is apparent in the quality of their teamwork. The crew, led by Jose, were fabulous. Everyone arrived on time and worked diligently to complete my project by the end of the day. Their expertise and input made my patio turn out even lovelier than I’d imagined! Domenico is a class A company and I feel so fortunate to have connected with them through Angi."

"I contacted The Crack Team for foundation wall crack waterproofing after finding water near our utility lines and basement corner. They arrived on time, answered all my questions, and did clean work. What impressed me most was how respectful and honest the crew was throughout the whole process. The leaking stopped completely and the area looks great now."

"Gary Lustig is the owner of Atlantic Coast Waterproofing, Inc.  When he came to our house to inspect our basement and give us a quote for the repairs, he was very thorough in educating us on the cause of the leaks in our walls. It was a problem we had been battling for the last ten years.  His approach to the problem made sense to us. He quoted us a price to do the job and did not at any time add to his original quote.  He pulled a permit with the City of Troy and his work passed all inspections the first time--both during the process and at the completion.  He was ready to start the work on the date we had agreed upon and then graciously allowed us two additional days to prepare the basement since we weren't ready before he started our job. Gary was always willing to explain to us exactly what they were doing and why and always asked if we had any questions about the project. He finished the project on time! His workmen were polite and hardworking. At our house, because there are no windows that open in the basement, only glass block windows, Gary and his workers had to hand carry up the stairs endless buckets filled with cement chunks that had been excavated along the entire perimeter of the basement of our large ranch house to make a trench so that the Aqua-Flow Floor System could be installed.  Then, once it was installed, they mixed concrete and hand carried buckets of wet cement down to the basement to fill in the trench.  The cement finisher did a perfect job of joining the new cement to the rest of the basement floor. Gary and his workers did a great job of cleaning up every day leaving as little a mess as possible. One of his workers broke a hinge on our basement door as he was removing it to allow easier access to the basement, and he personally purchased a new hinge and installed it.  We were very impressed with his honesty.  We felt we were being given a fair price when we signed the contract with Atlantic Coast, but after seeing how hard everyone worked breaking up cement and carrying buckets of cement up and down the stairs, we thought the pricing seemed like a true bargain. This was not a job that we could ever have done ourselves. The best part of this whole project though is the fact that the leaks are now contained and in the especially rainy weeks we have had since completion of the job, the floor has been perfectly dry. We no longer cringe when storms come and wonder how much water we will have to mop up. We have recommended Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to others and will continue to do so.

"Very well. Pisani was the lower (40% lower) of two estimates I received from well-rated Angie List providers (the lower pricing may have been a special case because I had a small job which perhaps fit into the early spring weather which may limit the types of jobs masons can commit to). Gregg was easy to talk to and took the time to explain what was needed to do the job right. I was pleased that they schedule the job even earlier than I thought they could when we had temporary break in the rainy colder weather. His people came on time and were very professional and efficient in doing the job. I was very satisfied with the results. Gregg came at the end of the job to make sure I was satisfied and everything had been done right and in accordance with what we had agreed. Would have no hesitation considering to use them in future masonry work."

"Project leader - Art - was great to work with. Everyone associated with the project was low pressure and lived up to their commitments. 3 man crew show up on time, got done early, and cleaned up area before leaving. Only drawback was pricing but quality of the project helped offset higher cost."

"The job was a very lengthy job due to how much was being bricked. It was an extremely hard job due to the location and getting the flow properly done from the porch which was in the front of the house, winding all the way to the back along the garage and to the patio. They did a fantastic job on everything. It looks beautiful. I even called them back for a few repairs and they were prompt to get here and to take care any problems. I would definitely recommend Austin Brick Pavers to do your job!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Modern brick homes have a brick facade over standard framing and sheathing, so the brick offers minimal added structural stability. A home with traditional brick construction is more durable than a stick-built home, as the double-layer brick walls and rebar resist higher lateral wind loads and support heavier loads up top, as well.

If you want to make your home eco-friendly, enjoy low maintenance, and love the fact that its looks will take people’s breath away (and not because they were trying to blow your house down), then a modern brick home is right for you. You can hire a mason to get the building process started for your brick home.

But if you’re not fond of the color and don’t want to deal with the process of repointing or other repairs, consider going with vinyl or wood. These materials offer a lower cost. While they tend to require more maintenance, they don’t cost nearly the same as exterior brick house repair.

In some cases, black stains on brick are caused by organic substances like algae and mold. However, it's more likely that the black spots you're noticing on your bricks come from carbon from vehicle exhaust or soot. Black stains can usually be removed by scrubbing the brick with a brush and masonry cleaner or power washing.

Limewash can be removed from brick, but the method of removal will depend on how long the limewash has been on the brick. If the limewash has fully dried—which happens after about five days—you’ll need to use a diluted muriatic acid mixture to remove it. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.

Brick and stone are durable, low-maintenance materials for siding and walls that offer excellent insulation, aesthetic appeal, and can increase property value.
