Jacobsen Remodeling IncDwight Jacobsen evaluated a crumbling cement footing in our garage. It is an important footing as the main support beam for the master bedroom above the garage rests on it. We had a couple companies quote a repair for us. Jacobsen's quote was much lower than the competition though he was honest that his strategy for the cosmetic portion of the repair might not last as long as a more expensive process. He was able to fix the structural problem, then patch the cosmetic issues adequately. It's only been a few months but it continues to look good. The final cost was almost double the original quote, however this was still by far the cheapest option I looked into. Overall we were satisfied.- Nicholas K.

Jacobsen Remodeling IncWhen the service is so good - the comments are simple. We are home-fixing novices. Frankly, we have very, very little home "repair" skills. Dwight listened to exactly what we wanted, and made all of the right suggestions to help us get from start to finish. He was always on-time, professional, kind, and supportive (a home renovation project can be so stressful!) I think I was most impressed by his follow-up. When the job was done, he still checked back a few days later to see how we were feeling about the work. About a week after the floor was in - we noticed a gap in one of the floor caps (those plastic things between your kitchen cabinets and floors). We called. He was at our house within the hour. Within 24 hours, it was fixed. That's how I would describe Jacobsen Remodeling - "Problem-solvers." I truly believe that you get what you pay for and our service was worth every penny. Update: a few weeks after the job was complete - we contacted the provider regarding problems with the toe kick in our kitchen. they came out and fixed it. But the same problem emerged again - this time, no response and no solution. We have about a 1/2 inchgap where all the connections are between pieces for our toe kick. The rest of the job looks great - but it looks like this will cost us about $400 to repair through another service, and that's a bummer.- Danielle L.

Jacobsen Remodeling IncDwight walked me through all the steps and explained what was needed to prevent further damage to the first floor. The project required that he return occasionally to adjust the steel posts. He called ahead each time and arrived as planned. He was available throughout the project by text and email with any questions I had. He responded promptly. He cleaned up after the project and checked back afterward to make sure I was pleased with the work. He educated me on how to monitor for cracks in the future. He was very thorough and professional. I would definitely be pleased to work with him again in the future.- Carrie R.

Jacobsen Remodeling IncDo expect professionalism and a friendly group of experts. A structural engineer, as well as a project manager were involved in the process. Dwight and company drew up blueprints of how to proceed with a severe structural problem on our home, recently purchased on a short sale.- Diane S.

Foundation Specialist LLCI'm selling a home in Holland. The appraiser noticed a crack in the poured concrete foundation and asked for further investigation by a licensed foundation expert. Bryan Foster showed up promptly, provided a written report that confirmed no settlement, bowing or water intrusion, and charged a fair price. I didn't need or ask for an estimate, but Mr. Foster provided one free. I appreciate that the estimate was separate from the inspection report.- Thomas H.

City BasementHank and his staff were honest, friendly, and efficient. Everyone else quoted me between two and three times would hate calling me. It was because they were trying to sell me things that I did not need. Hank told me the truth from his very first assessment through the end of the project. He was prompt, timely, and communicate regularly. I would highly recommend city basement for any of your waterproofing, basement, or foundation issues.- Anna P.

Foundation Specialist LLCThey worked hard and got the job finished ahead of schedule. It was so loud, there were several men here for four days, our yard beside the house was completely destroyed but that was totally necessary to complete the job. They consulted with us about changes and progress. The only thing we were not pleased about was they left empty pop bottles in the yard but, perhaps, they meant to clean them all up on the last day. We cleaned them up each day.- Tracy A.

Foundation Specialist LLCGreat. From the project manager - Bryan Foster - to the crew chief - Shane - I don't think I could have been in better hands. Professional, knowledgeable, polite, hard working, on time, no surprises, and they left the place cleaner than it was before they came!! I highly recommend this company and the individuals I mentioned.- Marcia K.

Great Experience!! First of all, I had the service technician come out for a yearly service check on the sump pump system. Daniel Smykla did so much more. He inspected my basement. Also, he tested the waterproofing system and tightened the anchors. He was happy to give me advice on other issues that worried me. He only charged me the initial service charge on the sump pump! Daniel is warm, friendly, respectful, professional and very knowledgeable!! I will ask for Daniel for all future service!

Overall I am very pleased with the work performed by W.M.G.B! The price was very fair and the installer was on time and quick to finish the job. The only thing preventing me from giving excellent marks all around was that the installer misunderstood our project request and switched a couple vented windows but the quality of the work and the care he took to complete it were well above average so I am not worried about it!

Such hacks! They will hillbilly it up real good for ya, but if you want it done right the first time or at all look elsewhere! I was initially impressed with the owner David Brown who came out to give me an estimate. He was very respectful and didn’t try to up-sell me, but it was all down hill after that. I decided to have my existing sump pump replaced and have a battery backup pump installed with a “pump spy” smart outlet. Pam said the installer would show up at 9am and have no problem being done by the time I had to leave for work at noon. I asked Pam if they would clean out my sump pit that had probably never been cleaned before installing the new pumps or if that was something I needed to do. I was assured that the installer would bring a shop vac and do that for me. On 03/01/21 an installer that I thought was “Perry” since that was the name on the side of his truck, showed up. Turns out he was just driving Perry’s old truck. Anyway, their installer showed up and started taking things apart, but then had to leave for I think a check valve. He returned and assembled everything, but it wouldn’t fit in my pit, so he had to take it back apart and re-assemble everything. Turns out my old discharge pipe was plugged up with rusty crud. The installer said he would get some “Iron Out” for me. At this point I asked again if my pit would be cleaned since I didn’t want all that crud going through my new pumps etc. He said he would, but in the end he never did. He ended up telling me that the pit was fine and anything in there was hard and couldn’t be cleaned off, which was totally not true. I also never saw any “Iron Out” that he said he would leave for me and that I could use periodically. Since the installer unplugged the pipe the new pump moved water out the discharge a lot better and it was splashing back outside where it went into my buried line. I attached a hose so that it discharged out into the yard instead of splashing back near the house. The installer told me he would just stick a pipe farther down into the opening. I questioned how the water would escape if it needed to and was assured it would be fine. Well after I checked what he did I saw that now the water was spraying back against the house. I headed downstairs to tell him and he said, that he realized this too once water started running down my basement wall behind my electric box, which fried the “pump spy” smart outlet he had installed. He had to call and have someone bring him out a new smart outlet. He didn’t offer to help set up the app or smart outlet, but I eventually had to call “pump spy” to have the first smart outlet I set up removed from the app, which the company said contacting them was the only way to do that. Since things are such a giant mess I called my work and was able to use a personal day. I told the installer that I had taken the day off work now and that there was no rush, so he could take his time and do the job right. Spoiler, he didn’t do it right. When he said he was finished I had to ask him to secure the discharge pipe somehow between the pumps and where it went through the wall, which he did with some metal banding. This is also when I was told the pit didn’t need to be cleaned. Later once the water had a chance to settle I noticed tons of sludge, slime and chunks of debris still in the pit and the walls of the pit hadn’t even been attempted to be cleaned. I knew the brown on the pit just wiped off because I had already wiped off what I could reach. Also somewhere around the check valve was leaking and dripping down the pipe. The battery backups and all the cords and wires were left in a giant tangled pile. Zero effort was put into making anything look decent. Since it was after 6pm or something I ended up getting Stay Dry’s main number and they said it wasn’t an emergency and they would leave a message for Lansing Stay Dry. So at noon the next day I hadn’t heard anything, so I had to call them. They said they would send someone out with a shop vac this time to clean the pit and fix the leak, but it wouldn’t be until Thursday. On 03/04/21 at 10am someone shows up. As I’m putting my mask on I try to nicely say something like “Are we supposed to wear masks?” to which I am told “I don’t wear masks”. So the person they sent to redeem themselves after the circus on day 1 is someone who refuses to wear a mask in customer homes during a pandemic. Got it. This guy does take some Iron out and after I give him a brush (since he didn’t bring one or any rags or anything) scrubs the pit a little bit, sucks a little bit out with the shop vac and tightens up some connections around the check valve. The pit does look better and he leaves the rest of the Iron Out. He tells me the check valve area is leaking because the pipe is crooked and that he’s going to take the battery’s that I spent lots of time tidying up and move them against the pipe to steady it. I told him that’s how the installer on day 1 left the pipe, and that I had to ask him to even secure it with the metal banding. I went and got a cement block out of the garage to place against the pipe to steady it instead of moving everything I had cleaned up already. I also laid down cardboard and plastic on the floor, since none of these guys wear boot covers or clean up the water and mess and I was sick of cleaning up. He says there was an option for a new pit and cover that would secure the pipe. I was never offered or told about these options until now. Guess what? The next day I see the check valve is STILL LEAKING! I contact Pam and she says they will send out “Perry”, the real Perry who “manages the crews”. I’m confused thinking they’re sending the same guy from day 1. When the real Perry comes out on 03/10/21 he explains about someone else driving his old truck. I think he said his name was “John?”. Anyway, Perry, puts on boot covers and a mask which is nice. He looks at the check valve and says “This isn’t even one of our check valves” and seems to insinuate that something fishy was maybe up. I told him “That is the check valve your guy installed.” Maybe he just ran to the hardware store to get on when he realized he didn’t have one on his truck or something? Perry replaces the check valve and the pipe is crooked again, but not as crooked as the first installer (John?) left it. I say how the no-mask installer said if it’s crooked it will leak and Perry says that’s not true, and I guess he was right. It is no longer leaking. So finally after 3 tries, this company was able to sort of pull off the job. It felt like they put the bare minimum of effort into trying to fix their mistakes or make me happy. Since nobody was returning my calls I tried calling the owners cell number that was on the card he left when he came for the estimate. He sent me straight to voicemail and I immediately received a call from Pam. I would never use this company again and wanted to share my experience with them. There was so much they did wrong that I’m sure I’ve left some things out.

Review of Kent Home Services as posted. Buyer beware!! Do not let this company or any employees ON YOUR PROPERTY. They are not worthy of your business. The Job Inspector/Estimator (Justin I believe) is worthless. He thinks he is the guru of concrete but shows extraordinarily little knowledge and his customer relations are horrible. The workers that completed a $3500.00 void fill job on my concrete driveway worked hard and stayed on the job. Although, I told them not to inject too much material under one section as it will raise the concrete. Guess what, they inserted too much material and caused a section of the concrete to be lifted. Prior to their work I had sealed the joint with backing rod and Nova Link self-leveling concrete caulk which is the finest professional concrete caulk on the market. I contacted the company and behold who did they send out but the Estimator. While on my property he did not come to the doo! Go figure!!??. Several days later I receive a phone call from the owner Matt who proceeds to tell me the road is uneven where it meets the concrete, so I need to contact the Township/Municipality. What? That is BS! Matt does not have any customer relation skills. I did make payments to pay the bill (Total of 3500.00 and I did sign a contract). Then the owner sends a note that he is going to small claims court to get the final $400.00!! (A threat!) DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! There are other reputable concrete companies. Do not use this company for any of your concrete needs! Second Review of Kent Home Services 17 Dec 20 DO NOT CONDUCT ANY BUSINESS WITH KENT HOME SERVICES!!! Please read my prior negative review that was posted for Kent Home Services. This company is one of the WORST I have ever dealt with. Kent Home Service is dishonest with zero integrity. I owed the company $400.00. I sent them a check for $100.00 on November 30, 2020. The check was not cashed. I received a phone call from Melissa (I believe in Accounting) and she left a voice mail on December 10, 2020. It states” “Hi David Melissa with Kent Home Services just touching base with you I received your letter with the invoice however there was not a check in there for $100. (I had written that in the letter enclosed) I wanted to make sure you sent that with your invoice so we have not received that so just touching base with you I can be reached at 616-209-3608 thanks and have a good day…” So, I write her a new check for the 100.00 and an additional check for $300 which pays the bill. Guess what…Melissa LIED as on December 16, 2020; three checks hit my checking account for a total of $500.00 which is $100.00 more than I owed. I called twice and left a voice mail for Melissa and Matt (the owner) to call me back. No return phone call. Sent an email, no return email. Employees that lie should be immediately fired and further a company that allows employees to lie should not be in business. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY REASON! December 21, 2020 Third Review of Kent Concrete Please read my prior Reviews. Be very wary of using Kent Home Services for your concrete needs. The owner, Matt did refund an overpayment of $100.00 upon completion of a very pointed discussion. (Good for him)! This is the only positive action out of an extremely poor situation. The bottom line is that Melissa (accounting) lied to me about receiving my check. She told me via a telephone call the check was not in the envelope and the envelope had not been tampered with. I sent a check to replace that one and an additional check to pay the bill due in full. Then all three checks are cashed at the same time as per my bank. I questioned Matt regarding this, but he covered for her. I want a phone call from Melissa explaining to me why she LIED. REMEMBER: a company/organization is only as good as its worst employee! An employee that lies to customers must be fired! My hunch and I do not have any proof is that Melissa was instructed to cash all three checks and then she was thrown under the bus when I called the owner about the over payment. BUYER BEWARE! Kent Home Services in my opinion is not reputable, lacks honesty and integrity. The work completed meets minimum standards!
