Small jobs welcome

"They did a really good job and they stand behind their work. The prices are competitive and they take pride in their work. I had a really old front door that was not insulated and they put in a new one with plenty of insulation. They also put in a new storm door and a garage side door that meant making a new doorway that's sealed properly. They answered all my questions and were respectful of the property"

"Although I ended up paying more in parts and labor, than I planned or wanted,Al had solutions for all the problems that arose in an old kitchen. He is more than a handyman and anyone one thinking of hiring him, should not hesistate and book him immediately for all jobs.

"Nosh is a superstar in my book! Extremely professional - when he says he will call or be someplace at a certain time, he will call or be there! Extremely conscientious - takes great pride in his work, wants you to be happy with the results of his work. Great disposition - seems to truly enjoy his work and it came through in all my dealings with him. I can not recommend Nosh for masonry work enough. Use with confidence.

"Derek and his team were punctual, professional and courteous. I’ve been restoring a 1940 farmhouse for over a year and a half and have come across many handymen. These guys are some of the best. Very easy to work with. Even though this type of railing system was new to them and my un-level lowered ceiling provided some challenges, Derek and team were able to think through the problems and come up with solutions to make the barn door work beautifully. These are fine young men with smarts about them. Hard to find. They are gems. I will be hiring them again for other projects."

"They did a good job of installing the openers and explaining their features and how to set up all the proper codes. There was a small problem with the installation where one of the brackets was pinching an electrical wire and causing it to short out. But after we had an electrician out to figure out the problem, T&C agreed it was a mistake and paid the electrician's invoice. Everyone we deal with was very friendly."

"Gary was extremely helpful and efficient with his remodel project at our house.  We wanted a wall opened up to install barn doors between two rooms and he was very quick with responding to our messages and visiting for a quote.  Once we had discussed the project details he gave us a very reasonable quote on the spot.  After agreeing to the quote he was out and began work within days, staying into the evening to complete his work.  Several questions did arise as to the work he was completing (ie...hole in the subfloor) and he quickly contacted us to let us make a decision about the direction it was going.  The work was complete thoroughly and well-within the agreed upon time schedule.  The only minor issue that we had with the project was that the work space was not cleaned up (debris, materials, and dust left behind) and some of the demolition materials were left in the house.

Overall we were very pleased with the quality, cost, and efficiency of the work.  We plan to work with Gary again in the future and would recommend him to anyone looking for in-home remodel projects that they are considering.

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Whether pole barn posts should be set in concrete depends on the soil surrounding your home. If your soil is compact and digging conditions are agreeable, then setting pole barn posts in concrete is an ideal option.

The best lumber for building will be the strongest and most eco-friendly wood your budget allows. That being said, Douglas fir, pine, oak, and maple are all common building materials. Contractors will use a strong, inexpensive wood to frame a house or other structure and finer woods like mahogany for detail work.

Whether a prefab home is worth it or not will depend on your personal needs and preferences. Overall, prefab homes tend to cost less than traditional homes, although they also tend to have lower resale values. Another thing to consider is that prefab homes usually last 50 to 60 years or longer, while traditional homes last 50 to 100 years or more.

Building a tiny house is the least complicated way to build, especially if you’re tackling the project as a DIY. The smaller size means less complex plans, more straightforward utility installation, and fewer ways to make costly errors. Tiny homes still need to conform to building codes and often have other applicable regulations, so be sure to get the proper permits and confirm your build is by the book.

It can, especially with the rising popularity of treehouses that go beyond the ones designed for kids. Adults can now use them as office spaces, yoga studios, or quiet treetop retreats. That said, a treehouse can appeal to families with children or adults who might want to convert it into a space of their own. Depending on the buyer, they may be willing to pay extra for the unique feature.
