"Jason at Northstar Landscaing demoed our old deck and build our replacement deck. I opted for pressure treated lumber. I am giving him a 5 star review which he deserves. Old deck came out in one day. New deck was built in a timely manner even working around mid-November weather. My family and I are very happy with the new deck ! Even the city inspector called it a "good looking deck" and he inspects them daily. After the build was complete Jason did a great cleanup of the area and even reseeded some of the surrounding lawn and mulched around the perimeter ! I would hire Jason again and recommend him for any deck project !"

"Making the decision on this project was not taken lightly. We met with a variety of basement remodel companies in the area. We looked at premanufactured systems, other highly rated Angie contractors, and referrals from friends. All of them lacked the ability to collaborate on our vision, they seemed rushed and almost annoyed by having any discussion about what we wanted. Craig was different from the get-go. He came out initially and met with my wife to discuss the project. We were originally shopping bids at the time. Craig actually encouraged us to do so. He advised us to speak to everyone in the area and that if we wanted to go with him to give him a call. This is exactly what we did and I couldn't be more happy with our decision. When he came out for the second consultation he was nothing but genuine and authentic in his demeanor. He shared his catalog of exquisite work. He took his time to actually listen to us. This was super important after comparing the process with other GC's. Work done included the following: Framing Drywall - walls and Ceiling Electrical - Pot lights, outlets, etc. Plumbing -Shower -Toilet -Urinal -Sink in bathroom -Sink in kitchenette Build out of an office section to house our computers and assorted gaming gear A living/TV area Glass block Window replacement A new circuit breaker to replace fuse panel. He made it very clear that his crew is filled Artisans who care about their craft. Attention to detail can be seen in the exquisite millwork that was done around what could have been a very basic stairwell. On the topic of his crew, I wanted to highlight John, Nathan, Dan, Winston, and Kenny. He hires people that are friendly, and couldn't be more accommodating to our requests. We had some strange ones and they took it in stride. They were all super friendly and cleaned up the site after each work day. The whole project took approximately 7 weeks. We were actually sad to see them go! One specific memory was when the bathroom was being laid out. Craig had me come into the then unfinished space, and took measurements of me for the shower! It was like having a custom tailored suit. Incredible! Did I mention that we asked them to put a urinal in addition to the toilet in the bathroom? Craig said "no problem, we can do that" and they did. When inviting people over to see the finished space their jaws drop. We couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism, kindness, and prompt attention to any issues that came up during the project. I plan on using Artistic Construction and Design for any future projects. If you are looking for an authentic, original thinker who is patient and understanding of their customer's needs, than look no further. We asked Craig to build us a space that was clean, safe for our children, and modern. This is exactly what he did. He was passionate about the project and excited to help us realize our dreams. Stop your search here folks!"

"This guy Al Hobbs was so nice and great to talk to...
I Had a very old ugly faded large side door awning that prevented me from driving all the way back on the driveway into my garage if the vehicle was a very high SUV or Box truck..I thought it was heavy but it turns out that is was aluminum.... Al's Tool box was just stolen out of the back of his truck while he was at Home Depot so he didn't have the right socket to remove the lag bolts attaching the awning to the house..he was going to make a run the the nearest Hardware store to buy the correct socket....I offered my minuscule collection of ratchet sockets to use ....hopefully not offending Al....he gracefully accepted!!! I had the right socket to complete the project...It took all of 20 minutes...more or less...Next cane the dreaded Shrub Stump...I tried everything trying to cut the root ball and stump out with no success...Al bought his Sawzall and dug up some of the earth(dirt) and cut the complete Stump and Root ball out..he then re-covered the hole with the earth (dirt)
this took all of 20 minutes more or less...I paid for 2 hours of labor...but it took Al only 40-50 minutes tops...
We spent the next Hour or so just talking and enjoying each others company...I had Al look at a few more projects I'm thinking about having done next spring and he gave me some great prices on the projects and great advice for the projects that he could not do..(which were very few)
Al is a great contractor and his honesty and friendliness is so refreshing....You will not go wrong if you hire Al for ANY project needed!!!

"Derek and his team were punctual, professional and courteous. I’ve been restoring a 1940 farmhouse for over a year and a half and have come across many handymen. These guys are some of the best. Very easy to work with. Even though this type of railing system was new to them and my un-level lowered ceiling provided some challenges, Derek and team were able to think through the problems and come up with solutions to make the barn door work beautifully. These are fine young men with smarts about them. Hard to find. They are gems. I will be hiring them again for other projects."

"The garage door spring broke on at 7:30 pm on Saturday 8/31/2019. Due to the Labor Day holiday weekend, service could not be obtained until 9/3/19 from any of the Angie's list recommendations. I left a message with all of the recommended companies on 8/31/19 and Town & Country had a message on their answering machine that they would call back on Sunday 9/1/19 after 9;00 am. On Sunday at about 9:45 am, Damion called back quote a price of $99 for install and a price of $149 for a pair of replacement springs. But, due to the holiday weekend the earliest they could do the work would be on Tuesday 9/2/19. He said Brian G. would arrive from 10-12 am. Damion was thorough, friendly, professional, and efficient. Brian G. arrived as expected and quickly and efficiently removed and replace the springs in about 30 minutes. Brian did an excellent job. He was thorough, friendly, and professional. I would definitely recommend Town & Country for garage door repair."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

The timeline to build your barn will depend on the barn type and the company you hire. A pole barn may take six weeks or so, while a traditionally framed or steel-framed barn can take four months or longer. Building a barndominium takes the longest because you are essentially building a new home. You can expect barndominiums to take six months or longer to build.

The term “cottage” is subjective, so there’s no rigid definition, but it generally refers to a small home with simple and purposeful architecture that embraces nature and focuses on charm over everything else. Cottages are typically 1 or 1 1/2-stories tall, usually with gabled roofs, and are built out of natural materials that help make the structure a part of the surrounding nature rather than something that stands out from it. A big part of what makes a cottage a cottage is the decor, which includes natural materials from the nearby area.

The construction stage is almost always the longest part of building a house. Within this stage, framing often takes the most time, lasting anywhere from one week to a couple of months, depending on the home's size, the crew, and the time of year. Other parts of the construction phase include pouring the foundation and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring. The planning and design phase can also be very time-consuming, sometimes taking months or even years, especially for a custom home. The final finishing process, which includes painting and installing trim, is typically shorter than the construction or planning stages.

If you can’t repair and repurpose your shed, it might be possible to sell it, donate it, or salvage parts rather than them just ending up in a landfill. Professional junk removal services will advise you on what can and will be recycled. You may also want to keep some parts to upcycle them for other projects around your home. Turning planks from your memory-filled wooden shed into a coffee table or bed headboard is good for the environment and the soul.

You may need a local building permit and written permission from your homeowner’s association to install a shed, especially if you’re doing any substantial land clearing or installing electricity or plumbing. Permit requirements vary between municipalities, so research the local laws before starting your project. If you hire a contractor to build the shed, they can help determine which permits will be necessary.
