"Got a quote from Scott Ballard. I also received competing quotes from other service providers. Home Spec was the highest bid (although all of the bids were close in price). I chose to go with HomeSpec based upon reviews from Angie's List and other online resources. My home is small so the job only took two days to complete. The crew that did the job was lead by Ryan Loop and his crew did an excellent job! They filled three cracks in the foundation walls, and installed a new perimeter drainage system using PVC drain pipe and a sump pump. Prior to the install I had some questions that were answered to my satisfaction by Scott. While the work was being done Ryan answered some more questions I had about the sump pump system as I have never lived in a home that has had a sump pump. I am very pleased with the finished work. When Ryan's crew put in new cement in the basement where the floor had been removed, they did an excellent job in finishing the cement to a level and smooth surface."

"Russ is one of the few contractors I've hired that over-delivered on what he promised. We hired his company to install carbon fiber straps on two of our basement walls that were starting to bow in a bit. We had quotes from several other companies, and we chose Precision Foundation Systems because their rates were competitive, he was incredibly knowledgeable about the process, and there was no BS nickle and diming going on like a lot of the other companies. He just quoted an all-in rate, then did a really beautiful job. They installed additional bracing where needed (and other companies did not include) and even added an additional strap at no addition charge--all to ensure he was completely resolving the issue and not leaving us with a potential problem in the future. He didn't mark up the permits at all either, which we appreciated. At the end of the day, it's all about the quality of the work, and I can't imagine anyone doing it better, cleaner, or more professionally. Thank you for exceeding our expectations Russ! I almost never get to say that to a contractor!"

"Paul was very responsive and met with me several times while we determined the best solution for a steep grade under our two-tiered deck that was eroding and causing sand to pile up on a patio that was at the end of the deck.  The grading for both was also going toward the house.  We were concerned that this would eventually cause a problem in the walkout basement.  Paul came up with a solution for a drainage system under the decks that would ensure the problem was resolved once and for all.  They also ensured that the water proofing on the house under the deck came up to the appropriate level in all spots.  There is not much space between the ground and the deck so it was a difficult job.  We had a another quote but it did not include the drainage system and I was concerned that we would ultimately end up with the same issue in a few years.  The crew was friendly and everything was cleaned up when they left after the job was complete. We have had some rain since the job was complete and have not noticed the sand pile up or an water puddles on the patio.
The crew removed our existing patio pavers and re-graded the patio so it would slope away from the house.  Because there was not a lot of room to take the pavers higher at the house, they removed some of our grass ad ensured that was sloped away so that they could maintain a proper slope on the patio.  This was also one of the reasons I chose OCR.  The other quote did not mention needing to also slope the grass.  Since they used the existing pavers, it was a tedious job to clean them.  The crew did a great job of recreating the original pattern using the existing pavers without any need for new materials.
The leaking sprinkler head had created a large hole at our property line.  We did not know the sprinkler head was leaking because the hole was in a rough landscape that was actually on our neighbor's property.  However, our grass finally did start to sink as well.  They were able to use the dirt from under our decks to fill the hole and replaced the faulty sprinkler head.  They also reseeded that area and will monitor this fall to ensure the grass is coming in and will reseed if necessary.  So far the grass is growing well with just a couple of bare spots.
OCR also replaced a rotting board on the facia of our house.  He determined that the gutter was sloping toward the corner of the house instead of toward the down spout.  They replaced the board and fixed the slope. 
For this project I chose OCR and Paul because he has both landscape and building credentials.  I think those skills provided us with the best solution.  I would recommend this company."
