Dr. Flue, Inc.I could not have been more satisfied or grateful to Kevon at Dr. Flue. We had an ongoing fireplace issue with freezing outside air rushing into our living room through the fireplace over the past couple years. During the polar vortex we woke up to a fireplace, hearth and stone surround covered in a 1/4 inch of ice. This resulted in cracking all the marble around the fireplace and other damage. Our insurance company had 2 different fireplace/chimney contractors out and we had another. All three had no idea what the source of the problem might be or any real plan to resolve it. We found Kevon after he had worked on a complicated issue at a friends house. He came to the first appt and all others at the scheduled time. He looked over our system from top of chimney, into the fireplace and all the way to the basement. He knew exactly what the problems were and there were many. Starting with our chimney not being built correctly or having the proper cap. That allowed water in through the chimney chase around and behind the fireplace. Existing fireplace was wood burning and we decided to replace with a sealed gas fireplace. Our job was complicated, needed to be completed in phases and logistically difficult. Kevon provided detailed reports with photos from initial inspection to completion of all work to us and our insurance adjuster. We needed a cherry picker to re-build the top of the chimney and install the new cap/vents due to the steepness of our roof and height of the chimney. They took great care with our lawn bringing it in and out. Work was done in a highly efficient and competent manner. The fireplace and flue were torn out and area behind repaired due to water damage. Gas line was run and inspected. Final phase was returning to install new sealed gas fireplace. Every phase went flawlessly due to their hard work and planning. They were even present for the final inspection. It is the wild west out there looking for a competent, experienced fireplace/chimney professional. We considered ourselves lucky to find Dr. Flue. We can't recommend them more highly. They can handle any problems and will do a great job.- John N.

Stan's Fireplace & Chimney ServiceGreat. Stan was prompt, courteous and was able to acquire replacement set in same day. He did a thorough cleaning of the chimney and He put down his drop cloths and the house remained as neat and clean after he was finished. Stan's Fireplace & Chimney ServiceThe initial appointment was September 15th. He actually called us and could come earlier than planned which worked out great for us. He initially inspected our gas fireplaces and determined that that were not ready for maintenance for another two years. He determined the model of remote that we would need and ordered it, and told us he would call to schedule a time that would work for us, to install it. He would not charge us for the service call since the fireplaces did not need any maintenance. My husband insisted he charge us something for his time and the trip out to our home. Stan suggested we just pay a deposit for the remote and that would take care of the service call. My husband paid him that day for total cost of the remote. Stan called the following week, and scheduled the install for the following day. The remote was installed quickly and worked great. We were not charged any additional fee for the labor and second trip to our home. Stan and his staff are friendly and courteous, and we could not be happier with their work! We will call him again when our fireplaces are due for inspection and maintenance.- Susan S.

Doctor Flue, inc.Initially Kevon, who told me he was the owner, set up our 2 gas fireplaces and the 1 wood burning. He was easy to work with and responsive & professional. Fast forward 3 1/2 years or so. I called for service on the gas fireplaces to have the logs cleaned and everything inspected and replaced. Within 1 1/2 to 2 months of the service, there was a loud crash & we run into the great room to find the logs have fallen out of the fireplace onto the hearth and the wood floor. The crash was the logs banging into the metal gates that protect & screen the fireplace. I called for service & let the person answering the phone know what happened & told him that it could have been a disaster since my 4 & 1 year-old grandsons were in the house and playing. He then tells me that they are going to charge me another $180 service call because "it has been a few months and we can't determine if the logs have been moved." I told him we NEVER touch the logs.....that is why I hired them. He insists that they can't be sure....in other words, I'm not telling the truth. No offer to discount the call, just inferring we are lying and give me another $180. When the guy who deals with the phones and scheduling called back, I told him it didn't appreciate basically being called a liar & that we would be severing our business relationship with them. Especially since I found another company who came out for less, found big issues with the placement of the base logs and they specialize in gas. The conversation with this person went downhill from there and since he refused to just have Kevon (which he snottily, like a high school bratty girl, told me I was mispronuncing) just call me. I finally had to hang up on him. Although the installers were fine, the guy on the phone sealed the deal for me. I can never trust a company that has such a unprofessional person working as their first contact for the company.- Jade W.

In September, 2028, the company owner came to our house and after looking down the chimney told us our fireplace chimney was separated and could not be used. After having a highly reputable company take the job, we found that Stan's had lied to us. We watched the camera go up the chimney and all seams on the flue were intact. We were also told that our chimney was clean. One look at what came out of the chimney revealed yet another lie. The chimney was very dirty. We are senior citizens and could be targets for unnecessary repairs. In the long and short reasons, Stan's could have been trying to sell us more than we needed. He also told us he would need to put a hole in our brand new roof or sidewall to the fireplace. None of this needed. Call Doctor Chimney for a fair and responsible resolution to Fireplace issues.

We booked this company because we did not know what was wrong with our fireplace. A "gas log tune up" was the closest option from the available choices, which included "free estimates". I made it clear upon confirmation of the appointment that we were unsure of what was wrong. They advertise "free estimates". Be warned, they do not honor "free estimates"; instead when they come to see the job, they charge an $89 - $99 "assessment fee" as a "service call" (later claiming that "free estimates" do not apply). Eventually, they completed the job to my satisfaction. However, they do not honor schedules, nor answer/return phone calls to update where in the process their services stand. Moreover, they will "flag" your account for calling. Overall, terrible customer service. Mr. Scheller (the owner) did not treat my wife with respect, leaving her frustrated and in tears from the way he spoke to her. Moreover, he made nothing but excuses for the way he treated her.
