"The project was to power wash the exterior of my house, including, cleaning the gutters. When done, the house looked great; I was truly surprised how good it looked. But...prior to quoting the project, they asked me some questions. One of which was if the square footage of my house 1800sf...it was, I said yes. I figured they must have pulled it from Zillow. Got the quote; I said go. They got there and said the house was bigger than they thought and upped their price! To be fair, the square footage is deceiving and the house is much taller than expected. When I was asked about the square footage, I did not know what I was answering; they used that number as the basis for their quote. I did pay about 38% more than the original quote (their was a little compromise on their part), but it was still a decent value. Also, prior to the original quote, they asked if I wanted the gutters cleaned; I said Yes. Turns out, they meant the outside of the gutters, not the inside! I was surprised they did not consider the outside of the gutters as part of the siding. I still need my gutters cleaned out! So, overall, I was happy with the finish product, but there was a couple of rough spots getting there. All the people I dealt with throughout, were extremely pleasant to work with."

Pressure Washing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.

The time it takes to pressure wash your driveway is mainly based on size (but your driveway’s material and condition also play a role). Small driveways can be pressure washed within an hour, medium within two hours, and large within four hours. However, this does not consider any prep time or time that sealing your driveway would take.

Yes, you can pressure wash epoxy floors, but you must take precautions to avoid damaging the surface. While most epoxy floors can be cleaned with a mop, you might choose to pressure wash if the floor is stained, has ground-in dirt, or is covered with mold or mildew. To do so safely, first soak any stains or dirty areas with a gentle cleanser. Use a lower pressure setting with a gentle nozzle, such as a green, white, or black tip, or a 45-degree angled tip. Keep the spray nozzle at least 18 inches away from the floor to protect the surface. Using a surface cleaner attachment or a rotary scrubber can also help prevent overspray. Be cautious if using a power washer that heats the water, as the combination of heat and pressure may be too powerful and could damage the epoxy coating.

If you’ve looked at power washing before and after photos, you might be wondering if this option isn’t the better cleaning solution for a wood fence. In fact, it just might be, especially if you’re struggling with issues like mold or embedded dirt. Keep in mind that the only difference between these two methods is that power washing uses hot water and pressure washing doesn’t, but sometimes such a small distinction can have a huge impact.

You should wait until your pavers have completely dried and cured before pressure washing them. Wait at least three to five days, though some sealants may need up to an entire week. Rushing that timeline can mess with the finish, weaken the seal, or leave streaks that are tough to fix. Once the sealant has fully set, stick to a gentle approach. Keep the pressure under 1,500 PSI and hold the nozzle at least two feet from the surface. Anything stronger or closer can blast the joint sand loose or wear down the sealant you just applied.
